These are "deleted scenes" so KM doesn't appear in the movie but these are on the DVD in a special section. It's worth viewing because there's a feature to turn on the director's commentary about the scene. Rod Lurie gushes over KM, saying how much he loves her as an actress.

Why didn't he keep her scenes in it then???!!
I hope if/when he does another movie he asks Kathryn to be in it, I'm dying to see her in a movie.
I'm off to e-bay in a minute now to purchase the special edition!!

sonny - interestingly enough, he also cast her in The Contender and Deterrance and kept her scenes in those movies. I also remember reading somewhere that Lurie is the reason Kathryn got her role in Artificial Intellegence with Steven Spielberg. Apparently Lurie and Spielberg are friends and Lurie told him that he needed to cast Kathryn in his next movie. Spielberg liked her so much, he then put her in Minority Report. Meredith Stiehm has also said in the past that it was Kathryn's role in Lurie's The Contender that made her want Kathryn for the role of Lilly Rush. All I can say is that she must be a delight to work with because John Woo also cast her in Paycheck after working with her on that BMW film The Hire.

The Contender? That was a boring movie... I wouldn't surely watch it if I didn't wait for scenes with Kathryn... and I have almost missed her, but she was great as always and I did not regret that I watched it And now TVFan writes that it helped KM to get other roles, hm, interesting...

This does support the fact that Kathryn is a lovely person [you hearing that DF!!! :smile31: ]. Deterrence, I haven't seen her in but she was ace in everything else and I think it's awesome that these people think she is such a great actress. I mean Spielberg and John Woo are like two of the most awesom movie makers and for them to think Kathryn such a good actress. Club Jerry Bruckhiemer with them and Kathryn's done pretty well for herself, hasn't she. Good on her, I say!! I'd love to see her in more movies as well as CC though [not that I want her to be overworked or anything].

Okay, so I got the DVD in the post yesterday and watched the scene Kathryn was in. She was great and it's a shame they deleated it.
Anyways I watched it with the director's commentry and this is what Rod Lurie said:

...But this actree Kathryn Morris; you know I can't say enough about her. She was in The Contender. She was the FBI agent. She was black haired then. And she is one of the most gifted actresses I have ever met in my life.
And, she is a treasure as a human being and as an actress.
That little moment there where she touches her ear [talking about the scene] improvised, where she is asking him to speak up. What you see from her there is the quality of listening that is really one of the hidden treasures, it's great......
...Also the pinnicle here is when she tells him she's gonna come and nail his a$$ if anyone else dies [talking about scene again].
Of all the scenes I cut out I questioned this the biggest one. She is so good....

He said that the reason the scene was ultimately cut was because it decellerated the pace of the movie. Shame IMO!!
