Hi everyone! been lurkin for the past month or so, not a lot of time to post, but i have been watching all of the episodes and I must say i've been loving them. however, i didn't watch much last season, and although i saw the finale and i understand where she might be coming from, I just feel like Lilly is sad all the time. I feel like its worse than in any of the seasons, she's almost depressed and I find it a little hard to watch. this is a woman we're supposed to be able to identify with and all I think of when i look at her is, oh my, i hope my life turns out better  . she just seems to be at the wits end and i worry that it's taking away from the show. What do you guys think? i'm sure this has been discussed, but i feel like last episode she was about to burst out crying in every scene, and all that stuff about dying alone, even Scotty looked afraid for her. |

Hi CCFan! Well if you didn't watch last season you have quite a gap. Lilly was shot in the observation room the last episode and her mother died that morning before Lilly went to work. It would be helpful if you watched "Stalker". That was the last episode of Season 4. There are clips for each episode over in Fan Art. We have a stickied thread there for Episode clips. The continuing saga of why Lilly has no one is really a theme of the series and many fans are looking for some kind of further revelation and or resolution of that part of her life. She is quite sad. But I would be too after what she's been through this past year or two. But I do hope the writers take this depression within her to really blossom Lilly. I think this is a great oppertunity to dive right into her emotions and see more of what made Lilly this way(though we know a lot already) and how Lilly can move pass it*coughbringbackraycough* She's quite complex with a lot to move pass and I'd love to see that journey.

Totally agree with your sentiments, CC Fan. It's actually one of the things that is really bothering me about the show these days - this perpetual state of Lilly miserableness, where she's lost just about everyone in her life and continues to work herself into oblivion. I'm kind of not buying into it anymore - no matter how complex the woman is supposed to be. Even the therapy sessions we've been seeing this season - whilst good - are still not giving us anything new and/or not moving her forward by much more than two or three inches at a time. I love Lil'. I do. But I admit I'm kind of bored with this daze she's in, and I am one of those wishing they would lighten it up, get her back to some semblance of her old self where she was fun, happier and yet still completely ace homicide cop. There is an imbalance with the amount of her misery, and it's just not fun to watch anymore. And although she's been through heck and back, I feel they've defaulted to leaving her in "heck" and never getting her "back."
My local CBS station aired a late night CC re-run a couple of weeks ago of Season 1 "Hubris." It was almost painful to watch. LOL! Do we remember how fun she was back then? How she was still trying to have a life? How she had some balance? I was never a huge fan of Kite on the first go around, but I now swear allegiance to the guy. LOL! Seeing him again and how he was able to bring out some of Lilly's best personal qualities - just as a woman, as a regular human being - it just made her seem so much more relatable (as you say) than she is now, where she is perpetually existing in this funk.
We shall see where they continue to take her.

I hope they'll bring back the Lilly we know. I don't think the'll leave her so depressed for the rest of the reason.

I just hope she will eventually will open up to someone about everything. Maybe Scotty?? Cause these looks she's been giving @ the end of the eps and the way she has been talking about dying alone and being lonely are KILLING me!!  |

Yay! I'm not alone. Ray is quite yummy for sure. And he may be a bit of a rebel and some may think he's bad for her. And I see where they are coming from. But their connection is quite deep. Him making her milkshakes when they were only 10 after that man attacked her? It seems that they trust each other quite a lot with each others secrets.

Yeah that's what I was also thinkin LII2However, I think it would be awesome to see a flashback of Lilly and Ray! Just to see how sweet he was to her then, and how they both acted towards one another.  |

I don't know if Ray would be the right man for Lil, now, even if I personally like him. She needs someone who makes her smile and laugh, and Ray is not this kind of guy. Someone as Kite would be better, in my personal opinion.

Oh I think Ray is good. I liked Kite too. But ooh there is just something bout Ray. I think they both have deep feelings for each other that go back to when they were children. But with the strike it may take a while before we find out who will be there for Lilly.

oh, PLEASE, Lily confess all her problems to RAY???!!! lol, pealee...oh, and, im a Lily/Scotty shipper, too. I finally figured out what that means, lol, thanks to the 'help for lolgirlyy' board!!! Thanks guys!
