I'd love to see her father! But next season will prob start after her mother's funeral and her time in hospital so no father (if he showed) and no cristina. And no good angst of scotty by her bedside! Would love to see patrick too, betting he's tall dark and handsome!

Moving back more on topic.... Lilly's Ex-husband... Oh I have to differ on the opinion of Lilly not throwing herself into an abusive marriage. Many can't shake the family patterns. This is why I'm thinking Lilly may have been married (although briefly - 6 mo -1 year) at a very young age 17-18 to get away from alcoholic mom). Also I still feel there is more of a story there with Lilly getting touched in her secret place. As we see she doesn't seem to have any problems having sexual relations with men (no fear of that) but relationships in general - so why is that? She doesn't have any female friends that we've ever seen. Is this because she didn't develop because she was taking care of younger sis? And ran home after school. My guess this is part of it. But there's something deeper here with Lilly not having anything going on outside work and I wanna know why. One thing doesn't add up though. Lilly's mom is an acoholic, her father left her at age 6. She was beaten nearly beaten to death and possibly sexually assaulted at age 10. (I know it was never directly said, but during that scene in the Woods, George says "Did he touch you? In your secret place?" this is the part where Lilly starts crying. We also know that George had read her 49 report. 2+2 =?) With these things happening I find it hard to believe that Lilly would actually throw herself into an abusive marriage. I have to agree with the adage that Lilly only said that to gain the trust of that other person.

It's true that many can't shake the family pattern, but Lilly obviously has. Whereas Cristina hasn't--throwing herself impulsively into destructive relationships. There are always exceptions, of course, but as a general thing children growing up in a dysfunctional family can react one of two ways--either they accept the dysfunctional pattern as a normal one and tend to recreate it when they're older (abusive marriages, drug abuse, alcoholism, promiscuity, etc) though not always consciously, OR they completely rebel against it and stay as far away from it as possible. Typical example is that of kids who have seen their parents fight or go through messy divorces and afterwards choose to never marry, never have kids.
I'm guessing Lil saw her mom go through so many joes, so many so-called friends who ended up making her suffer--she's decided socializing ain't all it's cracked up to be and would rather depend on herself ONLY. Others go away and cheat on you. She doesn't.
The fact she was engaged to Patrick really doesn't fit this profile though. It's one of those many little Lilly inconsistencies I can't quite make sense of.
Oh well.

Psychologically speaking I have to wonder if Lilly's main problem is with the female gender. While it's true that it was a man that attacked her alot of her problems have been caused by her mother and sister. Her mother abandoned Lilly several times for the bottle, and was ultimately the cause of Lilly's attack at age ten. Lilly meanwhile also had to care for her sister most of the time, and what ultimately happens? Later in life Christina sleeps with Scotty.
I believe that Lilly might not have a problem with a sexual relationship because unconsciously that's what she perceives a "loving" relationship to be. After watching her mom for several years I believe that something got planted into Lilly's unconscious realm that's effecting her relationships. However it does seem that Lilly's smart enough to end a relationship if it starts getting abusive ala the possibility of her being married at one point.

Lilly talks about "her ex husband" in Look again, but we never know if this story was true. Questions remain open and we are still waiting for an answer. I wonder if it was not just a trick : Jill Shelby's mother was stubborn and she was not ready to talk about her family easily. But when she learned taht Lilly married a violent man, she opened and speaks with Lilly. Lilly is a verygood psychologist and she knows how she has to talk in order people to be relaxed. She was with Patrick but they never married because he slept with Christina
