Does she really have one as she referenced? (Anyone remember where she referenced an ex-husband? And is it legit?  ) This is the tricky thing because I used to think Lilly gave out fake personal info when interviewing others for a case but much of it seems to be real. |

I remembered that =)...it was in the pilot of the first season when she told that lady that she had a drunk husband one time and knew that the impact of the injury on that teenage girl was not from sports.... Idk, I would guess it to be false Naj. Mainly because i think Lilly would know better...having a alcoholic mother and all.....i think she was just lying? God....why can't CBS do a character page for each of these characters? =P....CBS isn't giving Cold Case much respect =P....their tv webpage for it....has barely anything on it....

Maybe she was referring to Patrick who was almost her husband. But I have a big feeling Lilly has never been married

Lilly also said in the pilot: Todd: "You should be married." Lilly: "No one ever asked. So here I am working homicide." The thing is - we don't know. It took me till the second season to question her telling pieces of the truth about herself. I always thought she bluffed. Like in "Sherry Darlin" where she claimed to be a handwriting analyst? I didn't believe that but she must have been.  I'm kinda thinking whether I want her to have been married. It goes with my early theory that Lilly had a child.  |

Here's a theory maybe after patrick Lilly might have been married but something happened. Or she and Patrick were really married, who knows.

I don't think being married "goes" with Lilly's personality. Of course writers could take liberties with her life history--wouldn't be the 1st time. I kinda wish they'd stick to what they've done so far though. This girl... with all these issues... no way she ever trusted a man enough to think she'd share her life with him.

Oh I agree, DF. And maybe the writers had to do that because Kite's character was leaving. We don't know what they *really* had planned for Lilly had he stayed. A good question to ask InsideR sometime.  |

I think she lied about being married to a drunk in order to get the victim's mother to trust her, and therefore, open up to her. Later in the ep when the mother references the "drunk ex," Lassing has a look on his face like WTH?? indicating that Lil told a little white lie in order to build a relationship with a woman who had information that she needed. We can never say for sure though with her. |

Yea, I saw the look from Lassing. But maybe he was surprised that Lilly divulged her personal life.    I think she lied about being married to a drunk in order to get the victim's mother to trust her, and therefore, open up to her. Wondered why Justin Chambers left the show lol.....i'm sorry I really can't buy his acting in Grey's Anatomy.....back to the topic....
I was watching 2 x 05 " Who's Your Daddy" and that black guy mentioned something about why Lilly isn't married because of her "man issues"....i'm definitely thinking Lilly never got married now.....who's Patrick??? I vaguely remember....was he in any episode??

OMG....i just saw "The Red and Blue" episode clip on Youtube where Lilly accidentaly bumps into Scotty kissing a woman...the two of them talk and Lilly mentions that she "almost" got hitched in tennessee o.O.

We can never say for sure though with her. Yah, I remember that look. And I also remember thinking "busted!" To this day I'm sure that's what she was doing--just bull$hoiting to get the mom to spill. Pretending to sympathize, making her feel safe, you know, like they do by bringing them food and drink and stuff. Basically it's all just manipulation--"good cop". I'm fairly sure she was never married. The fact that she "almost" married Ray and then didn't actually reinforces my view of her. She just doesn't trust anyone enough. |

Okay so my take on it is that she's never been married but that she's come close twice and that it was patrick she was referring to when she told the interviewee lady she knew the difference... Ray she nearly got hitched to, but it never really seemed they were engaged per se. He also seems like a nice guy too, so I don't think it was him she referred to. But she and patrick were actually engaged and he slept with her sister... That doesn't a nice man make. So I think he may have hit her once or twice (so she was an optimist once, maybe she thought he'd stop... After everything her mother put her through lil still looked after her towards the end- that old optimism returning) and she just added the husband bit. About the quote to her old partner that "no one ever asked"... We know that's a lie!
So I think no, not married but that the comment may have come from some experience. At least I hope it did; I LOVE the angst!

One thing doesn't add up though. Lilly's mom is an acoholic, her father left her at age 6. She was beaten nearly beaten to death and possibly sexually assaulted at age 10. (I know it was never directly said, but during that scene in the Woods, George says "Did he touch you? In your secret place?" this is the part where Lilly starts crying. We also know that George had read her 49 report. 2+2 =?)
With these things happening I find it hard to believe that Lilly would actually throw herself into an abusive marriage. I have to agree with the adage that Lilly only said that to gain the trust of that other person.
