Interesting inside view longisland... Anyway, i liked her better in season 1. She was edgy, tough and very "being there" detective. Yes, she's changed but i'm not convinced it was for the better. Neither am I, wetzelmirage. I just don't buy the way of the development of her character in season 3 so far. Sure, after what happened, Lilly might be more insecure to the outside and show some softer spots, but I miss this edgy side of Lilly a bit. She could be really harsh at times (just watched Sherry Darlin again, and wo-ho, was she harsh to James on the phone at the beginning). That she nearly lost it in "Patrick Bubbly" was a sign, that Lilly is probably on an emotional borderline, but I simply think there should be more critical moments like that. Even if Lilly is a very controlled person, emotional stress is hard to control. the character change happens with every show , None of the characters stay like there were in the first or second seasons . Lilly is still the same but is going through a transformation , she is realizing that she needs someone and shouldn't be alone so much . Most of all she is accepting what had happened to her and that she cannot change what happened in the past. But what happened in her past is only going to make her stronger , that is the message the writer want us to know. Yes, people change. And I agree, Lilly's past is only making her stronger in the long run. Lilly might be realizing that she better talk about some things, but actually doing it is so much harder. And if you are as used to not trusting and rely on other people but do things on your own as I think Lilly is, then it's even harder to let go. There are days you think you should do it and give it a try, and a lot of other days where you feel like you never could do it and that makes you feel only worse and very frustrated. And this frustration shows up. At least that's my experience. I just want a little more of the Lilly we saw in 1st season.

Even if Lilly is going through that kind of emotional "evolution", it's not something that happens fast, especially with someone with the kind of emotional baggage like Lilly has. And I don't think Lilly will ever be a trusting person again (if she ever was one), and leave all her past behind. Call me a pessimist, but I don't think anyone in her situation could do that. And the fact that she can't makes her, and the show more realistic and interesting for me.

Yes, but they can only input so much... I think (just going by InsideR's old words). In the end, Meredith's the Boss. Maybe KM had something to do with it... but I dunno, I think if it had been up to KM she would've done this character development different. But who knows??

I do miss s1&2 qualities of Lilly she was much better ,there is something very wrong with her this season , one fact is that she's not in every scene or sometimes she not in the ending seeing the victims

I liked her toughness, her emotional distance, her inner torment. And -- of course -- her hair.

I agree. Is it too boring of us to want the same thing over and over again. I mean whenever I've attended football games, basketball games or even formal functions don't we all have the same kind of agenda/rituals we do over and over again. I think it's the same with a series we like too. However by now since we had what we got in season three - Lilly has made changes so I think that does change the series somewhat. I'm thinking the mall scene in Rampage where Stillman lets Lilly go talk to Tina. Had we not had season three as we did, sending Lilly in would have seemed just right. But for me it seemed out of place like they were back peddling. Anyhow many liked that scene anyway. It reminded me of Lilly and James although totally different circumstances. I liked her toughness, her emotional distance, her inner torment. And -- of course -- her hair.

I didn't like that scene because it seemed forced for some reason. Like they (writers) HAD to make her go talk to Tina to keep us fans happy. Like they tried to do too many things we'd like in one episode. But it wasn't bad.
I liked everything about the early Lilly except that she was too cocky sometimes in her interrogations. That's why I liked to see her taken down a peg or two in season 2. I didn't like ANYTHING about her in season 3. Her character changed too much. I miss her not being such a girly girl as she is now. But oh well. I know characters gotta change, I just feel this one changed too fast--she's the only character on TV that used to act kinda like me, and now she doesn't--and I miss that.

Somehow I feel s3 lacked a little bit of humor on Lilly's part. Like what we got in s1 and early s2, so basically pre-George. There were these one-off quirky remarks. I miss those. We still get them, but i thought for the most part, they felt fake. (Dont ask how that works out in my head). S3 seemed to be more of a serious season for Lilly. That kinda ticked me off.

I liked the light makeup and freckles on early Lilly. She's too overdone now. Barbie doll.

I agree with you michelle. But her new look as grown on me. I think they had all of season three to mess with the makeup. some of that eyelid shade was pretty bad. It looked gunky with the yellow/gold? I liked the light makeup and freckles on early Lilly. She's too overdone now. Barbie doll.

I miss the jokes she used to make in S1. Like I think the very first ep where apparently the case file was 'nowhere on earth'. stuff like that. And she had interaction with people outside of the time (I'm not talking joseph-style interaction but she seemed to have friends; the morgue lady and the csi-type guy). she seemed a lot less of a tortured soul in S1. There was still angst there but she seemed more like a person. I prefer S1 Lilly I think... And I'm impartial to the hair. up or down. Prefer S1 makeup though. Definitely. although her new lip colour is better than in S1.
