I agree. What we really need next season is a glimpse into her past (or, many glimpses would be better ) so that we can see what caused her to build all these walls. Something in her childhood probably triggered the way she behaves now, why she buries herself in her work and maybe why she's afraid to get into a relationship. Im not saying that it couldnt have happened naturally, im not a psycologist, but thats my guess. I that its really kite's own fault that the relationship didnt work for him. He knew going in that Lilly was uh, 'invested' in her work. If he knew that 'he didnt want to live like that' why did he even bother? Why did he go through getting Lilly to warm up to him, only to break her heart? *let's ponder, shall we? ;D*

lol I'm not a psycologist either. I'm just taking some of my own life and comparing it to hers a little bit. I can understand the way she is, and I'm sure you can have a great childhood and still be a workaholic and be afraid to have a social life I don't know lol
I'd love to know where her father is too. She hasn't mentioned him yet. Although in Maternal Instincts she did mention she would have settled for one parent looking out for her much less 2. So I have no clue. From the way she described her mother's "dating habits" maybe Lilly doesn't even know who he is? So from the sounds of it I don't think he's in the picture but it would be nice to know. I love that Lilly is so complex and I don't think they are dropping random info about her just for the sake of it. And I like the fact that it keeps us guessing but I hope they continue to let us get peeks into her personal life to find out why she is the way she is.
And I was thinking about that earlier too...if Kite "didn't want to live like that" why did he get involved with her in the first place? I mean did he just pretend that he had a clue lol It was him that made comments about her working too much wasn't it? lol I'm pretty sure it was

The whole Kite thing puzzles me as well. I think he thought (as many of us do when we enter into relationships) that he could change her. Or maybe he thought that she worked a lot, but she wouldn't if she was involved with someone. I think he found himself really attracted to her, but in the end it just wasn't enough b/c he felt that she wasn't there enough. It seems to me that there are people who can deal with only seeing their significant other for short periods of time, and then there are others who are really bad at it. My best guess is that Kite is bad at it.
I agree with everyone who has said that they hope we learn more about Lil's relationship with her mother and family. I think that many of the clues to her apparent walls lie within her upbringing.

yeah I agree I think he must just be really bad at it lol Has she said anything really about her sister? I know she made a comment like her sister takes care of their mother or something like that. I wonder if her sister "has issues" too. And she's pretty good at keeping her walls up until she comes across a case that really touches home with her. Like Fly Away, or Maternal Instincts which I watched again last night. Her referring to the "purple foot" or her going off on that guy when he was locked up. Saying she wanted everything too but was too damn proud to ask for help until it was too late. It all makes you go hmmm

melliemel - I didn't pay attention real well in the beginning, so I've been trying to pick up on the clues during the reruns this summer (curse CBS for not rerunning the pilot!! ). Anyway, from what I gather, her sister usually takes care of her mom (Sherry Darlin'), but she is sometimes "MIA" as Lilly put it in Sherry Darlin'. I hope we get more on her this season too.

I've watched all the episodes, except Gleen, and I think Lilly only mentioned her sister on Sherry Darlin'. The only related information we have is from Fly Away, where she tells Scotty that her mom had two dependents - so we know there isn't another sibling.
I think it's a bit weird she never mentions her sister. If she's around and taking care of their mom, I suppose they see each other frequently. I'm thinking maybe they don't get along very well (maybe Sis screws things up like Mom) and Lil doesn't like to talk about her.
well, as melliemel said, it all makes you go hmmm.....
