Thanks for the site skonygirl here's what Kathryn said: "Cold Case" star Kathryn Morris reveals that the Hollywood writers' strike has made things "very emotional on our set. Writers on a lot of other shows on the Warner Bros. lot tried to pump out a few extra scripts to help the crews get through the holidays. Our writers chose not to do that. It hurt the crew, hurt their feelings," she says.
"The electricians, the grips, the costumers, hair and makeup people — all who do not have the luxury of receiving residuals and get paid week to week — are going to have to find work to feed their families. Some of these people will not be coming back to 'Cold Case' at all. This is bound to break up our crew," she goes on heatedly. "This is a crew that just put in over 100 episodes, that puts in 80-hour work weeks and does double episodes to make air dates. We've worked together closely for five years, and we're a tight family. Now, some of them will probably have to find work outside of TV or films."
Morris stresses, "As much as I respect and understand what the writers are doing, catching up with the technology, to see this crew getting split up is painful."
They'll be working until Friday (Nov. 16), she tells us, and then the set will be shuttered. As for Morris herself, she relates that she'll still have some post-production recording and other work ahead on the series, and then she'll possibly take on another movie assignment. She notes, "There's been more feature activity — films that have locked scripts. I'm going to be available because of the break. Even when we do go back, it's going to take awhile to get some scripts together."I hope this ends soon too

It's good to hear Kathryn's thoughts ... and yet really sad as well. There is just nothing easy about this at the moment, and its effects - if and/or when a settlement is reached - will linger for a long time. And possibly NOT for the better for some ... Thanks skonygirl and Eurache.

Thanks for the article. This is such a mess. I don't blame the writers. But thats really sad that the CC crew is going to get broken up because of it and that some of the workers have to find jobs outside of their feild. Very sad. I hope everything gets resolved quickly. And that's interesting that Kathryn said the writers didn't write extra eps to get them through the holidays like other shows.

It is so good to see someone directly affected by this issue take the stand that is not very popular. I think I'm gonna pass those quotes onto the Anti Strike movement, she's got some powerful words there.

I've been reading the back and forth comments in the Writers Strike thread from this afternoon and evening and I saw where LillyKat called Kathryn's comments here "sobering." I really can't think of a better word for them. I've been so caught up in the writers' fight that I never really stopped to consider everything that Kathryn mentions here. Perhaps it's because I respect her so much, and in turn - her opinions and thoughts on things, but her words in that article really brought this whole thing home. I still support the writers and what they're fighting for, but I respect the hell outta what Kathryn did here. She went against a very popular opinion (especially in Hollywood) and stood up for the little guy - the people that she works with on a daily basis and has good relationships with and respects for all of their hard work. She praised their work, long hours, and dedication. There really aren't very many people in Hollywood (or general society for that matter), who would do the same. HUGE kudos for Kathryn. She just earned even more of my respect.

I agree with you totally TVFan!
Very gusty for her to speak out on her opinion when it's agaisnt the grain. I can see both sides of this for the writers and for the rest of the crew.

That's rich, it takes an actress you guys love speaking out on the issue to finally make you go, "Wait a second, there are other people involved here, people who are worse off than the writers". But hey, I'm glad it at least happened. Kathryn right now has more respect from me than I've ever given to...any actress, probably any person on the face of the earth. Those anti-strike banners turned out great. Her words just seemed to fit with them.

Again, please be respectful to both views! I don't want to see any cursing or nasty responses. I would appreciate that you extend the courteous of accepting both sides/views. Thank you.

Yes, right, at the moment the strike actually hits those people most, who we seldom recognize, the people who work hard on the shows and barely are mentioned. Wonder how many actor and actresses notice them. So good to hear, an actress like KM isn't thinking just about herself. And definitly the strike hurts those people more than any of us consumers and it hits them first.
But, well, guess all those electricians, grips, costumes etc. aren't paid as well out of season, or? I mean, if they're paid week by week ... No one seems to be bothered by that, because it's normal business.
Anyway, let's hope they're going back to negotiations and settle it soon.

I don't think I can ever thank you enough.

While I respect everyone's opinion about this -- this wouldn't be happening if people were paid fairly. So, that's kinda the bottom line for me.

I have to say I support the writers' demands for more money...I should say a FAIR payment for their work. But I also feel for all the people now out of work & not knowing how long it will be before they can get back to their chosen professions. So I'm in two minds about the strike. If there were only a way of getting a fair deal for the writers without them striking? But if the studio heads won't part with the money, then what's a writer to do? Hmmm. And on a purely selfish note, I like my tv. There's no tv being made. That makes me cranky. I guess all I can say is...I hope it ends quickly, with everybody as happy as possible, and let all the workers get back to work. Yeah.
