KM on Xena on 7/17

Hello and how are you all on this wonderful evening? I hope that you are all rocking and rolling into midweek, just like me!

I got a new hit on our girl KM on my TIVO today! Woo-hoo! She will be featured in part 2 of her Xena adventures in "The Convert." It will be shown on Monday, July 17 at 7 AM (Central Time) on channel 251 (Oxygen Channel on DirecTV).

So michelle and everyone else - are you ready to see our girl KM as Najara? I sure hope so, and I hope that you all get a chance to check this out. Take care, and have a rocking end to your weeks, everyone!

Also, just a note on the time - 7 AM Central is 8 AM Eastern. Just some FYI. You can sleep in a little longer!

So, I finally got around to catching this episode (now that I'm a KM follower) ... and wow, did it bring back memories. LOL!

I have to confess I first saw this ep way back in the day, when I was a Xena watcher. And, back then, I had absolutely no idea who Kathryn Morris. BUT ... I DO remember how much this episode threw me for a loop as a Xena watcher. As in, who is this smiling chick kicking Xena's arse and sort of wanting Gabrielle to run off and be ... well, like her?!?!?! LOL! (I was more of a Gabrielle fan than a Xena fan, so I was REALLY kind of wondering what Najara's real deal was back then).

However, seeing it again this week was a trip for me ... especially now being in KM's camp ... I was cracking myself up, saying "Right, and this is when she ... and then they go ... and then Gabrielle wants to do the hospice thing ..."

I forgot about all the yelling that accompanies all the sword fighting ... as well as all of the sword fighting in general - LOL! KM was pretty darn active ... riding around on the horse, kicking sword arse, doing her Jin Yoga channeling, showing Gabrielle the light ... she definitely got around in this ep, so bungy jumping with Lucy Lawless after filming would've been a piece of cake. LOL!

It was fun to watch again ...

I may have to pull out the ole DVD on this, LillyKat. I have season 4 set of Xena! I was one of the few who loved this episode as I really didn't perceive the whole Najara/Gabrielle things as a romantic thing. I loved that Najara was kinda like Xena: Had a special name for her horse, called it the same way, had a sword, had her own sixth sense and could jump around just like Xena. I loved seeing Xena being jealous of this new woman. If I'd never seen KM before I'd probably not recognize her in this episode. I loved her outfit too! She had special duds just like Xena.

I also wanted to say KM looked very athletic and healthy in this appearance. That could be chalked up to outfit, lighting, make-up, NZ ... but I couldn't help but think she looks SO ghastly on CC nowadays - even in comparison to earlier seasons. What happened to the color in her face? And why is her hair this yellowy-over-peroxided-blonde? It's gone from being that nicely highlighted blonde to just ... well, I don't know. LOL! Anyways, was nice to sort of see her less ghastly.

I like Katherine with short hair but I do like her with long hair too. (her hair off the CC series). I know what you mean about her makeup/look for CC these days. I'd like to get my hands on the makeup department. I do not like what they've done with her makeup wise. I really don't ala Michael Jackson shade. KM is so pretty to do this to her as has been done. (IMHO)

I definitely do like her with long hair as well ... I just don't know what has gone wrong with its coloring; seemed so much frostier and less yellow in season's past. And the make-up is just so odd these days - like caked on or something. Sheesh. LOL!

It was nice to see her "look" on Xena.

ETA: I should say KM looks quite her natural beautiful fair-skinned self in non-CC related images (like when she's just out n' about ... so, am not sure why the CC make-up team thinks she looks OK as Michael Jackson on the show - LOL!)

No she didn't die. The writers left it open. I sure would have loved to see more Najara. But as we know KM was busy, busy, busy with her career. No lack of work for her.

I complained about this constantly last year on this board. I'm sure people got sick of seeing my same comment over and over. But I definitely agree with your observations of this more dire subject. ;D

I saw this one, Kathryn did a great job during those fightening scenes. After seeing her as Najara I wonder why she never guest starred on the x-files, she's good playing a villian.

Her acting was outstanding, at first Najara made you think that she was a hero but as the story started to unfold, Najara had a split personality that wasn't all sweet.

Well, I got another hit on my TiVo for our main girl KM - she will be in another Xena episode, "The Convert," on Monday, April 2 at 6 am Central Time (that's 7 am Eastern, and 4 am Pacific). This will be on the Oxygen Channel (channel 251 on DirecTV).

I tuned in for "The Convert" yesterday ... I had just as much fun re-watching this one as I did with "Crusader." Just brings back so many of my Xena memories when I watched that show (and it's been a LONG time). LOL!

I forgot Gabrielle had kind of "changed" by the time this ep rolled around (she'd gone to India, given up her violent ways, got a haircut and a make-over, etc. LOL! ). And, I completely forgot how Najara used this against Gabrielle - clever villains always work for me.

It was neat to see it all again - especially now being a follower of KM. It reminded me of why I really did like the Najara character - even if I had no idea who KM was back in the day. She was so convincing in both episodes, a conflict that truly unsettled the Xena / Gabrielle team, clearly outlining their two very different paths.

(As a side note, I completely forgot poor Najara is all beat-up in this one ( ) ... don't think I've seen KM with so many cuts and bruises - LOL! And, I also blanked on the big fight at the end. That was impressive - in the usual Xena-flying-through-the-air-doing-impossible-maneuvers kind of way. LOL!

Okay ... I am dragging this thread up from the depths of oblivion once again (LOL!) ...

I confess I broke down and actually BOUGHT the complete fourth season of Xena: Warrior Princess on DVD, which includes both of episodes Kathryn appeared in as Najara - "Crusader" and "Convert."

As some know, I seem to have this thing for old KM projects at the moment (LOL!), and I really enjoyed re-watching the episodes on DVD without all of my I-used-to-be-a-Xena fan interference. I actually was watching this go around for KM only, and I still remain really impressed with what she brought to the Najara character. Not to mention I wouldn't mind seeing athletic-sword-wielding-horse-riding-bungee-jumping-healthy-looking Kathryn again some time in the future. She definitely had a radiance and glow in these episodes.

The DVD extras include producers and writers (of both KM episodes) talking about how much Kathryn brought to the role, how impressed they were with her, etc. Basically, she wowed them (but of course ), and it was one of the reasons they wanted to bring her back for the second ep ("Convert"). It was also really interesting to hear the producers/writers talk about the creation of the Najara character, how she fit in with the entire fourth season, etc. Not to get too much into the Xenaology, but basically, Xena's sidekick Gabrielle was on this who-am-I quest for that whole season, and Xena had issues with whether she was a good influence or bad influence on ol' Gab (the whole Xena Warrior vs. Gabrielle Peacemaker thing). The introduction of Najara, who seemed to be on the same peaceful path of Gabrielle, wanted the same things, etc. played nicely into the entire season's arc and provided some excellent conflict.

Anyways, I'd definitely recommend this as a "keeper" in the KM project arena for those interested. Even if you aren't a fan of Xena, KM really delivers a nice performance in these episodes.
