In the recent past, television executives have preferred their female detectives young, single and stunning (from Jill Hennessy on NBC's "Crossing Jordan," to Kathryn Morris of the CBS series "Cold Case.") This year has wrought some subtle changes: Patricia Arquette, the star of "Medium," on NBC has a husband and three children as well as a sixth sense.
