8 yrs sounds... well, suspicious. But so far an episode has NEVER been named after the personal stories--just the cases. Besides, shouldn't it be "10 years" since the Patrick/Chris mess by now?
Still... one can't help but hope. And the CC production team isn't exactly known for keeping their dates in order *evil grin*.

Did anyone catch the preview for this after Sunday's episode? It looks like this episode will air on January 8, 2006 because the preview said in three weeks. I caught a glimpse of it. It said something about four friends and one dying, although now that I think about it, it sounds similar to Bad Night. I'm so confused now. I want spoiler info so bad.

Is it a Springsteen reference (I'm not real familar with his songs.) In the preview they made a big deal about an "All Springsteen" episode.

From Zap2it: 'Cold Case' Episode Born to Run with Springsteen Wednesday, December 21, 2005 09:41 AM PT For an episode about a murder case from the 1980s, the producers of "Cold Case" could have chosen the usual New Wave mish-mash as its musical backdrop. Instead, they took a trip down E Street. The episode, titled "8 Years" and scheduled to air Sunday, Jan. 8, will have a soundtrack by Bruce Springsteen. Nine of Springsteen's songs, from four of his 1980s albums -- "The River," "Nebraska," "Born in the USA" and "Tunnel of Love" -- will be featured in the hour. "Because there are such vivid stories and characters in Bruce Springsteen's music, we decided to let the lyrics do a lot of the storytelling for us, instead of depending on dialogue," says "Cold Case" creator Meredith Stiehm, who wrote the episode. "So in this case I chose the songs first and then designed the story around them." The episode sounds a bit like a condensed version of FOX's now-cancelled "Reunion": In 1980, four friends graduate from high school and set out to pursue their dreams. Things don't quite go as planned, however, and one of the four is murdered in 1988. Detective Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris) picks up the unsolved case in the present day, unraveling what went wrong in the lives of the four friends on her way to solving the murder. Among the Springsteen songs featured in the episode are "No Surrender," "Bobby Jean," "Glory Days" and "Atlantic City."

COLD CASE Air Date: 1/8/06 (SUNDAY) Time Slot: 8:00 PM-9:00 PM EST on CBS Episode Title: (#311) "8 Years"
ORIGINAL BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN SONGS FEATURED EXCLUSIVELY THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE IN WHICH LILLY AND THE TEAM REOPEN THE 1988 CASE INVOLVING FOUR HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS WHO ARE ALL SUSPECTS WHEN ONE OF THEM IS FOUND DEAD, ON "COLD CASE," SUNDAY, JAN. 8
"8 Years" -- Lilly reopens the 1988 case involving four high school friends who are brought in for questioning when one of them is found dead, on COLD CASE, Sunday, Jan. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Mark Pellington directed the episode that was written by Executive Producer and Creator Meredith Stiehm.
Original Bruce Springsteen songs will be featured exclusively throughout the episode.
In 1980, four high school friends went off to pursue their dreams, but nothing ended up as planned and one was murdered in 1988. Now, Lilly and Danny get a tip about the murder that reveals how these friends' hopes and dreams unraveled as they faced the harsh realities of life.
The following nine original Bruce Springsteen songs from the 1980s will be heard throughout the entire episode: "No Surrender" "Bobby Jean" "Brilliant Disguise" "Glory Days" "I'm On Fire" "Drive All Night" "Stolen Car" "Atlantic City" "One Step Up"
"Because there are such vivid stories and characters in Bruce Springsteen's music, we decided to let the lyrics do a lot of the storytelling for us, instead of depending on dialogue, said Executive Producer and creator Meredith Stiehm. So in this case I chose the songs first, and then designed the story around them. 'No Surrender,' 'Bobby Jean,' 'Drive All Night' and six other songs help tell the story of four optimistic kids 'busting out of class' with big hopes and dreams, who hit harder times as the years go by. The episode also tracks the life and death of a young marriage, and what happens when 'hearts of fire grow cold.'"
"We often use music in the show to evoke a time period, she added, but Bruce Springsteen's music spans over 30 years, so we chose a specific span of time (1980-88) for this story. The '8 Years' of the episode includes music from four different albums: The River, Nebraska, Born in the USA and Tunnel of Love."

Christine Elise? I know that name.
Modified: I just looked her up. She played Emily Valentine on Beverly Hills 90210. She dated Brandon briefly then tried to kill herself by setting a float on fire with her sitting on it. She'll be good in this episode.

This is an outstanding episode. Not only are all the songs written by Bruce Springsteen, but the script was written to refer to the songs. It is directed by Mark Pellington, who directed the pilot episode "Look Again" - which this board is named after. He also directed last year's striking "Best Friends" and this year's moving "Family".
The big question is why Springsteen - who very rarely allows his songs to be used on TV shows and films - would agree. No one knows (but they're awfully glad he said, "Yes.")

Not knowing if this ep setting does tie into the Asbury Park area I can see an episode with Bruce because of the messages his songs seem to convey to the regular person. And since Cold Case is written in that like manner, I can definitely see Bruce's work for this show.
If they do go off into Asbury Park (setting) his 'Tunnel of Love' song does capture that old defunct boardwalk.
Anyone have more info about the friends and if this is a Philly setting exclusively?
