So, which type of cases do you enjoy the most? Which ones make the best episodes and why?

I voted for "other" cause I like a mix of some of the options.. I like it best when the crime is brutal, or the victim is a child (I guess I get more touched by those), and also when the motive and/or the killer is kinda provocative.. I let myself get all into the cases and people and stuff.. That's what's really exciting!

I agree with sukkerspinn, a mixture of all of them is good as it keeps things interesting. I do like the child cases, as I have said before because it offers up the potential to get an insight into Lilly's own childhood like we did in both Fly Away and Revenge.

I voted for "the victim is a child". The most beautiful and touching eps are those when the child is a victim, like The Sleepover and Fly Away. I like to see it in the show.

Good evening everyone, Hello, this is the Byrdman coming at you tonight. I hope that everyone is doing well on this great Friday evening, and I hope that you are all ready to rock and roll through another great weekend as well! Although I like stories with ALL of the details included in the choices listed above (and stories that show our girl KM a lot too! ), I had to go with history here. I just love it when they go back to a disco, or to WWII, or the Great Depression. The show does an excellent job of creating an environment that resembles the time very well. It's just my favorite type of story. Thanks for your attention, take care, and have a great night and a rocking weekend, boys and girls!

I voted other because you simply can't pick a favorite on this. I love them all. Old, new, child, adult, likable, despicable. I'm usually picky but not with this show.

I agree with R2K. I love every episode that Cold Case does, regardless of time or victim.

I'm with the majority in the sense I like all cases, but I voted for "lots of suspects that keep you guessing". It's the most basic kind of mystery, but it's the most entertaining kind to me. I get a kick out of being wrong about whodunit. ;D

I agree with a2z and R2K. I love all cold case episodes. Cold Case is about the only thing i watch on tv.

For me it has to be a combination. It can be any year. It's more whether the time period has been captured, good storyline, interesting characters, interesting subject matter and then the music. So, because I don't like all the episodes is probably good because for what I don't like there is someone else out there that does.

While I like all episodes (most, anyway), I voted Other because my favorite types aren't listed.
My favorite type of Cold Case is the episode that is very fad-heavy about the time period. I understand that not all people lived fad-heavy lives, but the reason I watch Cold Case is because I like the idea of going back in time. When the episode doesn't involve many fads or time-period clues, I find myself thinking, it might just as well be set in present.
My other favorite type of Cold Case is when the killer is close-to-home, e.g. family members or close friends that I wouldn't have suspected because they were so close to the victim, and the case thus deals with the complications and twistedness of personal relationships. Examples of these types of cases would be - off the top of my head - "It's Raining Men", "Revolution", "Wishing", and a great example from last season is "Churchgoing People".

As everyone I enjoy all kinds of cases, but I voted for "cases where the victim is a child", because those are the ones that get to me the most.

I chose the whydunnit approach because I think this is what sets Cold Case apart from other shows. I like all the different types of cases because they add variety to the show, but the whydunnits seem to get me the most. Even though these eps tend to have more obvious killers, I like the psychological element that explores why someone would kill someone else, especially when the victim had a personal relationship with the killer. There are so many real life cases like this, so I find it fascinating to see it explored on television. The motivation beind the murder is actually more fascinating to me than the actual killer, and CC does an excellent job of humanizing what could be cardboard guest characters.

Yes, and they've done a great job in that aspect. But for one or two exceptions, their whydunits have been always varied and creative, pretty believable on the whole.

I like older cases that include a lot of history, so you can see what it was about the times that made the case go cold.
Of course, I like all episodes, this is just my favorite kind.

TVFan: I'm with you on the whydunnit as well. I think what most of us forget when we read about a murder in the paper is that quite a few of these people aren't really evil at all. They mostly committed their murders in the heat of passion. Lily is good at bringing that out of some of these people. She knows who feels guilty and who does not. James Hogan was a prime example. The premise of the show is that no victim should be forgotten, but Lily also knows that no killer should go on suffering the guilt. Numerous episodes displayed this element. Of course, "Lover's Lane" and "Strange Fruit" were not among them. But "Kensington" and "The Runner" were.

I'm sure we all have our favorite episodes but I said this on the Sleepover thread. This particular episode is so well done in every facet - it should be used as a model for future episodes. There aren't enough eps of this quality per season. I think if the cases were this engaging they wouldn't need any tidbits about their personal lives.
