I just started watching The Closer with the S2 premiere last Monday night. Kyra is amazing, no doubt and I strongly believe like you, LillyKat that she'll get the Emmy nom this year, but it bugs that she gets so much recognition and Kathryn doesn't. Just to clarify, I love Kyra and I think up until The Closer, she was sorely underrated as well, but her performance on The Closer is much more flamboyant (due to the character) than Kathryn's on CC. I'm not saying that Kyra shouldn't get a nom, but I have a hard time seeing the justification for her or Patricia Arquette (who I love in Medium) getting one OVER Kathryn, which is what I know will happen. Don't get me wrong, I'll be rooting for both of them come Emmy night, but I'll also be wishing that Kathryn's name was among theirs.

I'm with you on that one, TVFan - love both Kyra and Patricia, but not at the expense of Kathryn. My wish list for the Emmys this season would be to have Kathryn, Kyra and Patricia all nominated - and obviously for Kathryn to win. But, I think if that scenario were to happen, it actually might be pretty difficult for Kathryn to pull out the win. But at least she'd have the nom - we'll take that. I'd like to see her move into that space that seems to have been occupied by Allison Janney for several years (as West Wing is done) - nominated a lot, winning some, not winning some, but all in all getting the recognition. I would guess AJ will probably get a final nom for the last season of WW, which would leave 2 spots open (assuming it's Patricia and Kyra in the other two) ... and yet, why do I think at least one of those remaining two will go to Desperate Housewives. (No offense to those who enjoy the show, but to have multiple actresses from the same show nominated in the same categories at the expense of someone like Kathryn is bothersome - to put it mildly. ) I guess it will all depend on how the Academy views Kathryn's performances in the Emmy consideration eps ... I think the strongest on the DVD are "Saving Patrick Bubley" and "A Perfect Day" (which rank as several people's favorite eps already from S3). What gets me is "Mind Hunter" was on last season's Emmy consideration DVD, and there was no nom - for the show or the actors (not even Billingsly as guest actor for the amazing George). The power of that episode, and the performance of not only Kathryn but the entire cast ... really scratching my head on that one.

The good news is, Desperate Housewives enters itself into the COMEDY categories, so it won't be going head-to-head with possible CC noms. I'm sure that one of those remaining slots will go to Edie Falco from The Sopranos and the other will probably go to either Gena Davis (although her Commander in Chief fell off dramatically after Rod Lurie "left") or Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy, which honestly (and I swear no offense to any GA fans out there), will make my blood literally boil because I'm not a fan of her performance on that show to say the least. So, I've been trying to prepare myself early.

I completely forgot about The Sopranos - I keep thinking they're done. Never have tuned into Grey's Anatomy, but you're right about potential ... Sandra Oh took home something not too long ago (Globe? SAG? something ...) Poor Kathryn and CC ... cannot catch a break on the noms. Still keep fingers crossed for her that either she (or they) will be considered this year for some pretty darn good eps.

Hey Soccerulz and sonny ... glad you like the discussion - jump in any time! This is a great idea for a thread (thanks michelle) as I really like reading about everyone's favorite eps and/or why a certain ep seems to have a certain effect, etc. There are surely a lot to choose from. I'm looking forward to seeing "Sherry Darlin'" in a couple of weeks on TNT. Many have commented on the Lilly/James dynamic, so ... I kind of have that one circled on my list.

Joseph for sure!! Very interesting, plus allowed me to see a softer, different side of Lilly. Plus i loved the guest start on that one "Kenny Johnson". I hope to see more of him. They kind of left it open for him to be a re-accuring guest and I sure hope so!

Hey lemfan!
I also enjoyed "Joseph" and I thought that Kenny Johnson was great in the part. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he returns next season as a recurring character. Over in the spoilers forum, we have a thread where InsideR answers questions about the show (he/she works for CC), and she said that the writers and producers really liked the character and would love to bring him back if the fans liked him as much.
LillyKat - "Sherry Darlin" is awesome! It's another one of those blow-you-away performances from Kathryn. Look out for the last 5-10 minutes in particular, but the entire episode is amazing. I think it might be my second fave performance from her.

Yeah, it's certainly one of those classic kiss scenes. Kathryn and Josh Hopkins had GREAT chemistry together!
