Hopefully this won't sound too much like a generic slasher, but I was thinking about a story of a large, sprawling family that decide to reconnect after years and years, maybe on Christmas Eve or similar, and find themselves trapped due to being snowed in and the phone lines down. All the detectives are crowded with work and no-one can get home. In the house, someone is murdered and cryptic clues are left around the house, pointing to a cold case. However, one of the members of the family, perhaps a young member who knows one of the detectives, contacts aforesaid detective (preferably not Lilly - I was thinking of Kat or Vera?) via a webcam or a two-way video camera (if such things are possible). The young member of the family, accompanied by only one other person who is aware of their connection to the police force, has to interrogate all of the people in turn to find out who killed the person, before they themselves are targeted.
