I said yes. Last season I felt like the show was trying to prove itself in terms of cop shows, but this season I feel like they've already proven themselves and are now focused more on producing stronger episodes. I like that we're learning more about the characters and starting to understand them better. I also like the ongoing storylines this season, with Scotty/Alissa, Scotty/Chris, Scotty/Lilly, and Lilly/Chris. Last season's only continuing storylines were Scotty/Alissa and Lilly/Kite.
While I love procedural shows, its a nice solute to the regular fans when we can watch and say "Oh yeah, I remember they were having problems..."
Overall I feel that the show has really found itself and its more put together.

I said it's still too soon to tell. I want to wait until the season finale airs before I say for sure but up until now, I think Season 1 had stronger episodes (on the whole) "The Boy in the Box," "A Time to Hate," "Sherry Darlin'," Glued," and I just haven't seen enough of those quality episodes this season. I also like learning the backstory of the detectives so long as it's all the detectives and not just Lilly and Scotty. I really think this show needs to remain a true ensemble show by not focusing on one character for too long. I liked the Scotty/Elissa storyline last season but I don't care for the Scotty/Chris storyline this season. I hope this is resolved before the end of the season. As for the music this season, I think the songs throughout the Season 2 episodes are better, albeit smaller in number, but the closing songs are not as good as Season 1. This season, the closing songs just haven't added that emotional punch that each episode needs at the end.

I agree with Ryebeach. I think it's too soon to tell and I want to wait to see the whole season before giving a final opinion, but so far, I've enjoyed much more the season 1 episodes. They were more emotional and touching than the ones from this season.

I said that I like the second season better. I agree with CC Fan's entire post. I just feel that the episodes this seaosn have been more consistantly strong. We've had "Daniela," "The House," "The Sleepover," "Wishing," and of course the brilliant "Mind Hunters" (the series best so far IMO) to name a few. Last season had some amazing episodes ("Glued," "Sherry Darlin'," "Fly Away," The Plan"), but I feel that the show has gotten more emotional and moving overall this season. We've also had a lot of character development, and not just through their backstories, but also through their various reactions to the cases. My only complaint about this season is that it isn't as Lilly-focused as last season. I liked it better when the show focused on her exclusively, but I suppose that would burn out Kathryn (which we definitely don't want to do as I'd like her to stay with the show for its entire run . Overall, it's a tough choice. The show has had amazingly strong first and second seasons. I hope the trend continues. It's nice to have a show that balances the procedural stuff with the personal character driven stuff with such perfection. :thumb:

Hey, i'm new here but I thought I'd impose my opinions on youz anyway! Now, over here we're only up to episode 16 of the second series so I can't speak for the the series as a whole BUT i think that in general the second series has been better than the first, although its a really tough choice. I agree that the music at the end of the episodes of season 1 was better than what they've used so far in season 2 but where I think the second series has excelled is in the character development aspect (although i'd appreciate a bit more focus on lily) and also, mind hunters was an excellently creepy episode (that is if its the one i'm thinking about with the creepy records clerk who'd read all the records and used them to pick his victims). Does anyone happen to know what lil's '49' is specifically? creepy guy said he'd read it and i've been wondering about it ever since

It's either made up or a very technical police term. Some of us tried doing a google search on it and came up empty handed.

i thought a '49' was a term for a complaint made to the police, you know, like if you get attacked or something. From the episode, if you take it in the context that creepy guy was reading/using assault complaints, it could be that lilys '49' was her record and that she was at some staged attacked. well, those are the lines along which i'm thinking... could be something to do with her mysterious ex and her sister...maybe he smacked her about or something like that

Good evening everyone, Hey, this is the Byrdman just coming to you with my thoughts on this question. Although I became a fan with episode 8 of season 2, I have seen several episodes from the first season. Although I may not have all of the appropriate qualifications, I can offer up my opinion on this topic. I am an optimist, and I believe that this series is getting better with each show. My first episodes were from season two, and some of the music in this season has been GREAT! "Philadelphia Freedom," "Someone Saved My Life Tonight," "Do You Believe In Magic? (a personal favorite, such a happy song!)" and so many others have just been awesome to watch. Plus we are finding more about Lilly. I know that the second season episodes seem less Lilly-centered than what I have seen of the first season so far, but that is not too bad, she is indeed still the main character of the series and always will be, I think. This great season is moving towards quite a climax. I am anxious to see our favorite heroine square off against George again. Go Lilly! Well, "Creatures of the Night" will be delayed on the east coast tonight. They were still playing golf at 5:30 tonight. I'll be sure to post some of my thoughts on that episode as well. Thanks for listening and take care, everyone!

I really liked first season, although I didn't get to watch it with as much loving attention as season 2. Also I hadn't become part of the board yet, so I had no one to discuss it with. Thus, I was much less critical.
Even so, I have to say (hard choice!) I like season 2 better. Season 1 had great cases, but season 2 had great cases AND more character development, which I've really enjoyed. Don't get me wrong--I don't want CC turned into a soap opera; the cases must be always the most important thing in each episode. And if we don't have character development in every ep, it's ok. But it's great to have a little... even if it's only crumbs.

Good evening everyone,
Hey, I'm so sorry, I goofed! Cold Case is airing at the scheduled time. I have my TIVO on pause while I was finishing what I was doing. I'm sorry, at 5:30 I tuned to CBS, and the guide said that CBS Evening news was supposed to be on, and they were golfing.
I know that CBS has done this before with sports and the Sunday schedule. I am sorry if I have thrown anyone off too much with my errant prediction. I hope you enjoy it, and I'll talk with you soon!
