This is an excellent idea boxman. Since I'm also a big Veronica Mars fan, I'm very familar with their brand of campaigning, and this is a tactic that they use and it has been very successful. So successful, that they are constantly raising money to buy extra DVD sets of S1 (and S2 when it comes out in August) to donate to local libraries so people who haven't seen the show will rent them and get hooked. Obviously, we don't need to do anything like this because CC gets a lot of viewers (and VM desperately needs viewers), but the point is that the DVDs definitely help hook viewers -- and that's never a bad thing!

A key element to this campaign, too, however minute this may sound is for everyone to get the word out at all the places you post that aren't major Cold Case sites. There are so many conversations going on about this show in the Off Topic or Other Show forums of other major message boards.

I started a thread on the site I go on about cc, people had never heard of it, all the people on the site are from England as the site I'm on is for a actress well known here, I told them when it was on what time and to watch it, so hopefully there will be more fans soon.
Also I got my friend hooked on it, I told her how good it is after I had seen a couple of episodes, and she is now hooked.

... everyone to get the word out at all the places you post that aren't major Cold Case sites. There are so many conversations going on about this show in the Off Topic or Other Show forums of other major message boards. Especially at the guest actor's fansites. There are dozens upon dozens of actors that have played guest roles in this show that I'm sure their fans would be interested in DVDs just to see the episode thier favorite actor is in. The whole ensemble of actors that guest-starred in "Wilkommen" is a good example of this. Also I got my friend hooked on it, I told her how good it is after I had seen a couple of episodes, and she is now hooked. Your friend needs a set of DVDs....

UPDATE
I will be releasing the site's placeholder URL later this evening so we can do some pre-publicity. People will see a "teaser" graphic there until the site goes live in a few days. I'm satisfied that any extra traffic won't interfere with setting up the site, and I think it will be a good way to spread some 'buzz' for now.
If anyone is interested in helping to Beta-test the site, feel free to PM me!

ALMOST READY!Okay, most of the major testing is finished now. Even though there's a few bugs with some of the links on the site, I'm rather satisfied with how the site is working overall, so here's the URL to get the word out: www.coldcasedvds.comThe actual site isn't live yet because it still needs to be populated with information, and some of the dummy placeholder text need to be removed. But can everyone go ahead and spread the word about our campaign to the other boards around the web?? Thanks. I think an appropriate message to tell people would be: "A few Cold Case fans from around the world have gotten together to start a postcard campaign to get the show on DVDs. Their web site will be open in a few days, and you can visit them at: www.coldcasedvds.com . Please visit them and help bring this show to home video!"

I went ahead and put a piece in today's edition of Pass the Remote since it was CC-themed today anyway. You can see what I wrote HERE (it's at the end of the season review stuff). As soon as the site launches, I will do another piece as well boxman. The site looks great!

POSTCARD CAMPAIGN IS NOW OFFICIALLY STARTED!!
Get your pens and postcards ready... On behalf of everyone who's helped to put this campaign and the web site together, I'm happy to announce that the Cold Case DVDs campaign has now 'officially' started!
Please recruit as many people as you can, both across cyberspace and in the real world. All each person needs to do is write four postcards to the executives at CBS, Bruckheimer Films, and Warner Brothers studios. Keep in mind that its not about writing a lot of postcards individually, but rather how many people we can convince to write and ask for Cold Case DVDs.
Don't forget to leave messages at actor fansites too, not just Cold Case sites. There's been dozens of actors that have appeared on this show, and their fans want to see the show on home video too!
Good luck everyone!

Again, I'm sorry to hear about "Everwood", but it seems as if the show's creator is looking on the bright side of things. Four years is still quite an acheivement!

Hey boxman, How's it going, bud? Great job on creating this website for such a noble cause! Man, you are dedicated, boxman. It shows, bud. I had to ask though - how did you get that image of Cold Case S1 dvds, with widescreen on the boxes? Was that an actual picture?

Hi boxman, The site is amazing! I like it a lot. I'm almost finishing the translation and I have a question. Meredith is handing over the show running to Veena Sud. So, is there any point to send Meredith a post card? This is InsideR's info. Click HERE{edited link}

Hey y'all, thanks for the compliments about the site! I'll pass the regards to Mickey, the site's programmer and designer. Hey boxman, How's it going, bud? Great job on creating this website for such a noble cause! Man, you are dedicated, boxman. It shows, bud. I had to ask though - how did you get that image of Cold Case S1 dvds, with widescreen on the boxes? Was that an actual picture? I hope the site is 'worthy enough' for the show?? he he he... Mickey used a program called "Strata 3D" to make that image. He says it was easy, as it was just a plain rectangular box. The program is used for mostly industrial design, and sometimes for animation. Hi boxman, The site is amazing! I like it a lot. I'm almost finishing the translation and I have a question. Meredith is handing over the show running to Veena Sud. So, is there any point to send Meredith a post card? Thank you for your help with the translations, Ju!! I'm hoping we get a good global response to this, as these translations only help to add to our numbers!! It was through InsideR's advice that Meredith Stiehm was chosen. It seems to make sense to me too, as she's the show's creator. And as she works at Warner Brothers (note her address), it will be very convenient for her to get the postcards. She can simply walk over and show the people in charge of the DVDs all the mail she's getting.....

boxman - I wanted to let you know that I thought of a great tie-in. Every Thursday this summer in my blog, I revisit "classic" episodes of CC. Last week I did "Love Conquers Al" and this week is "A Time to Hate." Anyway, at the end of the segment, I decided to remind people about the DVD campaign. I figured that people would read about the ep and maybe want to see it (if they haven't) or want to see it again, so maybe it would fire them up to write a postcard! ;D

Thanks, TVFan! This campaign still hasn't reached "critical mass" yet, so every bit of energy put into it surely helps!
