Things we DON'T want to see in Season 3

We had a thread[/u][/url] on this last summer, and it was very interesting to see what everyone had on their list. So, what do you guys definitely NOT want to see next season?

Here are a few on my list...

1. Soapy storylines - season two delved deeper into each of the characters' personal lives while maintaining the focus on the cases. As I've said before, it was a nice balance. BUT, I wouldn't want season three to shift into the more personal, less case-focused storylines. It seemed that "Without A Trace" completely lost its focus this season because it was so consumed with Jack's divorce and Sam's intra-office love life that I can only pull out one or two memorable cases. I definitely don't want this to happen to Cold Case, since WaT went from "must see" to "well, there's nothing else on" for me. I want to know more about the CC characters, just not in large story chunks that overtake episode upon episode.

2. Less focus on Lilly - as we've discussed, Lilly had less of a focus this season. It ended up being okay, but I wouldn't want it to decrease any more than it did this past season. In fact, I would love to see more focus, but definitely not a decrease in her role and importance on the show.

3. Major changes - the first two seasons were done very well. I wouldn't want to see any major changes or disruptions of the format for next season. I have no problem with occasional breaks (like using an original score over the ending montage of Best Friends or devoting episodes to one artist's soundtrack), but the overall feel of the show should stay the same.

Having said all of this, I have total faith in Meredith Stiehm and co. In fact, it's the reason that I have such a short list. They did such a nice job with season two, and I have faith that next season will be the same.

1. A Lilly and Scotty Romance. I know this is a topic of hot debate right now, but I don't think Lilly and Scotty should happen. There is just not any romantic chemistry between them at all, and Lilly seems much older than Scotty, both personality and age wise. Plus, I'd like to see Cold Case avoid the tired cliche of having the main characters hook up.

2. Episodes where the music is all by one artist (ex: The House, Kensington). I don't like these very much.

That thread from last year of what we didn't want was quite interesting to reread!

What I don't want to see. I guess I wouldn't mind an all the same music track for one episode if it was someone I really liked as a performer. I mean, it was interesting but I don't think they need to do it again. So I'm gonna say I don't want to have any more eps with the entire soundtrack the same singer.

I also don't want them to go back to 10 or so songs per ep. They had a fair enough per ep in S2

Don't want them to stray from the fact that Lilly is the main detective because that's how the show was conceived.


Don't want to see those camera tricks like they used in Blank Generation. That's more for a music video. I found it disruptive.

First, I'd like to say that I totally agree with TV Fan's list.
I add this:

1. I don't want to see Christina, unless it's in one of the last episodes of the season. That storyline tired and drained me, I need time off from her. I want to know whether she was guilty of that fraud or not, but I don't want to see her anytime soon.

2. New regular characters - they should stick with the perfect team they already have.

3. Any kind of tension between the group, like the one that was suggested in "The Badlands". It ended up going nowhere, but it disturbed me (maybe because it was weirdly done, I don't know).

So far that's it...

Like Tati, I totally agree with TVFan's list AND saywhatknow's post. Except about the music. I don't really mind if it's all from one place or one band.

Things I wouldn't like to see:

- Another woman as a regular. I wouldn't mind seeing Frannie pop in every once in a while, but as a regular she'd disturb me and take away from Lilly.

- Lilly's mom. Don't mind hearing about her, but I don't want another character dragging her down and away from cases. Chris will probably be back at some point, and she'll take care of that.

- Lilly having a one-nighter or fling with someone in her precinct. I don't just mean Scotty. Not that I think she should NEVER have a fling, just not with those she works with. It'd disturb me.

- Kite as romantic material. He can come back as a character, though. Not that it's ever gonna happen, since he has stuff of his own to do.

- Too much Scotty drama. They already used that card this season. If they kept on it next season, they'd be overdoing it.

- Crossovers with another show.

- Someone being shot or killed off the show.

- Personal drama take over the cases. A little is good, too much is bad. TV Fan said this already but I can't stress it enough.

- Someone seriously ill.

DEFINITELY NO haircolour changes, what about the style? i quite like it, i liked the ponytail and hair-down but i think they should keep it the same for most of the episodes....

no fling- its to out-of-character and as has been demonstrated and drummed into us in Drama these past 2 terms, it RUINS the story

I'm sorry to L/S fans but i don't expect that storyline to come to pass unless its VERY gradual, maybe not even then (see above)

thats all i can think of for now- i have complete faith in the writers
