By this I mean the character, not the actor.

I do. It's weird how Lilly used to go talk to him about warrants, and now she doesn't do that anymore. They don't need to bring him back - just say that he moved somewhere else, I'll be satisfied.

I always liked the character of Kite and not just when he was together with Lilly. By having a recurring character such as an ADA, a bit more credibility was given to the show because in real life, there isn't a new ADA every week. It made sense for the same one to pop up every now and again when the detectives needed his services. And by just having the character dissapear, a void was created and without proper closure for the character, the show loses that touch of reality it had created.

They should at least make some reference to him. Like, "I heard Kite accepted a new job last monh and left the area". That's all they need to do. Then show a reaction from Lily.

I think they need to mention it as well. It seems odd that Kite appeared in the season opener, but we haven't heard anything about him since George referenced him in "Mind Hunters." I would like to know what happened to him. I think it would serve the show well to have a new DA as well that shows up from time to time. Where are they getting their warrents and such from now? Are we to assume that Kite is still in office? It's confusing.

I've been gone for a bit and was scrolling down and saw this. As a genuine Kite fan, here's my two centavos:
yes, I would really like to have a mention of him...even better if he did a guest spot. basically, anything to fit a void in that part of the storyline.
I'm writing a script for a contest on CC and whaddya know? it includes an explanation of Kite's disappearance. In my script, he volunteered a rotational transfer to another department and was supposed to return to the Cold Case department.
why isn't he back??
well, I'll have to post my script some time.

Atrayuh--that sounds great! Please do post your script. What do you get out of this contest?? (wouldn't it be great if the prize were for it to be used as an actual episode--too bad that's never gonna happen ).

What's weird is that I really didn't like Kite that much until he broke up with Lilly! I thought he was only in it "for one thing"; but when he actually broke up with HER kinda gave him some depth that I didn't really expect.
Then over the summer when they played repeats of some of the Kite episodes, I grew to like him more and more. His goofyness was really just what Lilly needed in her life. He NEEDS to come back to her in season 3.

I DON'T agree. But I don't wanna sound rude, you guys, and I respect your opinions... so I won't go into my anti-Kite ranting again. Besides, I think most of my reasons for disliking Kite are personal--and that doesn't make it exactly objective . I hope he doesn't come back. Lil needs someone different. Not sure exactly how (I don't want her with a fawning, angsty guy, either) but... not like him.

I to was a fan of the character. The procedural element of solving cases is missing in this season's episodes-obtaining search warrents, knowing what is legally plausible in solving a case. I guess what I am trying to say is that by showing the setbacks, roadblocks that occur when solving a case is missing-adds a sense of realism. eg. in the episode the letter- they could not get an order to exume the body-because the case was to old,and the city did not have the money to spend on the case. The cases seem very cut and dry this season.
Regarding, the Lilly/Kite relationship I to liked it. I don't think Kite looked at it as a conquest or challenge-he was not trying to change her. He knew from the beginning that she was all about the job. When Kite broke it off with Lilly-he said he admired her for the way she was. I guess it is one thing to know something, but another to live it. After the breakup, people turned on his character and their relationship- saying he was selfish. This is a normal reaction when this happens to someone you care for- people were reacting to Lilly's hurt. Maybe he was selfish for wanting to be with her. He ended it with her because he knew that it was always going to be her professional life, and then her personal life. If for no other reason we got to see a lighter, less serious side to Lilly when Kite was around.I would have no problem if he would return. It would be interesting to see how they would work together, and be around one another knowing their past history, and relationship.

Disaster & ryebeach: thank you for the offer to post my script (entirety or just that section?) here at this site. I hope to finish and post it soon. Oh, and disaster? I'm writing in for the Scriptapalooza bi-annual contest in September. I missed the April deadline because of work (bleah)...basically, if you're selected, the work is critiqued by producers and executives and opens the doors for a potential internship...not to mention a year long stipend in becoming a creative writer.
cherzee: how your post mirrored my own thoughts when I started writing this script. Now, I'm not saying that the kite/lily issue would overshadow the case, it wouldn't...but as a secondarly storyline I hope that it can believably coincide.
the eppy title is called "Fireflies".

Sounds like a great contest, Atrayuh. Sure hope you do win (is there just one "winner", or do you have like 1st, 2nd and 3rd place?).
And of course we'd like for you to post the whole thing. I, for one, would simply devour it. But maybe you should find out first if it could harm your possibilities in the contest in any way. I know lots of these "creative writing" contests insist that your work be original and unpublished, and... well, posting it here wouldn't exactly be "publishing" it, but it IS making it available for others to read and criticize. Not that I think there's anything wrong with this, but they might. :go:

I don't miss him. I felt their relationship was strange and at times I felt Kite was spooky. But after looking at the summer reruns there were some parts of him that were okay. Like the way he slipped into Lilly's life. That's the kind of personality that would find a way to Lil as Kite wasn't too pushy.
We didn't get to see too much from them beyond the initial stages of a relationship. More likely it was Lilly's behavior that was odd. I guess that's a part that was left unrevealed. But for writing Kite out purposes his jealousy came out of nowhere which seemed uncharacteristic but they had to pull the plug on his character for his rl pursuits. I really don't think Kite would have responded that way as he would understand Lilly's job. So if he does come back would it be awkward for the show?

I'd like to see or here about Kite in season 3. After the woods episode I think it would be appropriate for him to at least get a mention or something. I'm sure even though Lilly and Kite have been over for a while he would still want to check in and make sure she'd doing ok, cos I'm sure news of the situation would have gotten around PPD and the DA's office pretty quicky. Who knows??

I totally agree Shorty. They used to go to him for warrents, and now since he's apparently not a part of Lilly's life anymore, he vanishes. What, they dont need warrents anymore? It doesnt make much sense, because they're not going to get very far without warrents. Hm. I dont necessary need to see him again, but a simple MENTION would be nice, at least.
