Got my DVD Recorder ready to go.
Let's hope it doesn't crap out on me this season, and nothing important gets lost this time.

Ever since we got the unfortunate news that there aren't going to be any DVDs in the near future, I've been frantically trying to get every ep. I was able to get most of season two (I think I'm missing three), and I plan on recording and keeping season 1 (on TNT) and season 3. Definitely need to stock-up, though! :smile21:

I've got all episodes except 3 from season 1. I tape everything I like... don't like to count on DVD releases (however, I'm drowning in tapes here in my bedroom).

Well I've managed to aquire all season 1 and 2 which I can only watch on my PC. I do have some of season 2 on video tape but quality is never as good. I will be purchasing a recordable DVD player before season 3 starts over here so I can watch the episodes again and again on a bigger screen!!

Good to know I'm not alone... and VCRs scare me once they have to be fixed, Ju. I'll pray that it'll last the whole season And Vic, I hope your DVDR won't break down. And how cool is it to have an entire collection of your fav show? I have all of Freinds episodes and Silk Stalkings with Rob and Mitzi. I threw out tapes when I bought the DVD collections. Cold Case needs to get a set, pronto!

Does everyone record in the "fast speed mode" (SP)?

Does everyone record in the "fast speed mode" (SP)? I don't; otherwise, I'd really be drowning in tapes. I'm going to try to DVR most eps this season. Just can't do it on the high-def channels or I'll run out of space.

I try to record on SLP to get a better quality. Unfortuantely some of the eps I have recorded are messed up upon reviewing and I cant figure out how to fix the tracking. Going to get a few blank tapes this week. ~Naj

Good evening everyone, Hello, this is the Byrdman coming at you tonight. I hope that everyone is rocking through their respective weeks, just like I am! I saw this, and the topic brings back memories. I used to be drowning in VCR tapes myself back in the day when all we had was a VCR. I used to tape a lot of stuf on many tapes, but thankfully I upgraded to a dvd recorder, and this was before I became acquainted with Cold Case, so it has been all good for me. I just put together collections of episodes on dvd, and those have replaced my VCR tapes. DVDs are much smaller, more long lasting and dependable, and are overall a desirable alternative, I think. Just wanted to put my two cents in here. By the way. luvthe one who's name we shall not saybrown, you might try to hang onto these Cold Case tapes. If you ever get a dvd recorder, you can transfer them there for archival purposes. Take care, and have a great night, boys and girls!

Does everyone record in the "fast speed mode" (SP)? no, otherwise I'd have 3 times more tapes than I already have. On my first VCR I taped in SLP (that was long before CC, though) but the two VCRs I had afterwards only got EP and SP, so I have to go for EP...

Yes, you get better quality with SP, but can get more episodes on tape with SLP. I always record in SLP to save money. With an 8 hr tape I can get 8 episodes of an hour long show. In SP I can get maybe 3, and on EP somewhere around 4 or 5.
I'll record CC in SLP just so I can have less tape to use in the end!

I always record on SLP. I'm just too cheap. Oh, and I've only just begun taping. I've only got one tape in my collection! This season will be the first one I can tape decently (last season I only got 6 reruns and they all look a little wobby--damn tape).

You're right byrdman. And as soon as I get some extra money I'll definitely go for the equipement to put all of my recorded stuff on dvd. Or I'll have to look for a new flat. ;D Have most of the episode on tape now. Made the mistake in first season to hope for a quick release of a dvd box. Stupid. Still hope for it some nice day (why do they have to dubb everything here in Germany, arggg), but nevertheless, I tape every episode now.
