Okay so there was this kiss last night in Hubris between the DA and Lilly. Let's do some speculating here about Lilly and maybe even the storyline. What do y'll think this means?I clearly didn't think Lilly enjoyed kissing the DA. It didn't even look like she has a crush or anything on him. sidenote: To compare her here with the Pensacola romance there is a stark contrast at what constitutes liking someone. I'm thinking Lilly didn't even understand where this all came from the guy. But didn't it sound like they had some history? I'm wondering if Lilly has some childhood issues. Was she abused by her father? Poor image of men from her mother's situation. Wasn't her mom on welfare with just her and her sister? Was she raped? Or is Lilly just a loner? What about Lilly allows her to be firm but compassionate with those involved with each case? Is her past linked to who she is now as a detective? ~Naj

I had no idea of what was going on when it happened... so I have more questions than explanations...
First of all... who is this DA guy? I didn't even get a chance to catch his name... sounds something like... Kite? Or something along that line? I don't think he's ever showed up before this episode and it wasn't very logical in my mind for me to watch someone who just popped out of nowhere kissing our favorite heroine.
Hmm. What else?
I don't think Lilly enjoyed the kiss at all. She actually seemed a bit confused, like she wasn't sure what exactly just happened. I don't think she has a crush on that guy though, anyway. She seems more like a loner, and possibly leaning on the sideline of being a workaholic.

And from what I saw the second time she and DA Kite work together somewhere within their headquarters for her to get legal permission to probably deal with those that are suspects and to get information. So he came in as someone she works with. The seond time I saw the kiss it was like she didn't refuse and at the end--it seems like she is thinking.....but I still didn't get the impression that she enjoyed the idea of the two of them together. When he asked her to get a bit to eat--she wasn't that interested in doing something like that. Also she made a remark to him that his days ends at 7 pm and she would never know what to do if she wasn't working. Is she afraid of intimacy? ~Naj

Is she afraid of intimacy? Hey Naj, (oooh... I think my Psych teacher's going to love this if she ever gets a chance to read... people discussing a kiss that happened on the small screen, and all the possiblilities/reasons behind it) I think that ties back to Lilly's past that is at this moment still a mystery to us. I think you brought up the question if she was abused as a child (she did mention that her mother was on welfare). I think that might be a possibility from what we can see so far; another thing: she could get a bit unnerving and aggressive when she interviews her suspects, but does show the capability of holding herself back. IMHO, she seems to be doing a fine job of self-healing, or at least hiding it (if child abuse does turn out to be the case, I believe that might be another reason why she could be leaning on the workaholic side, or to choose the job she is doing, covering her own wound with other people's); in most cases I've read about the issue in my Psych class so far, most victims are either completely withdrawn or just goes to the opposite end of the spectrum and be completely aggressive and force someone else to repeat their experience, especially if no assistance such as counseling is available; so there's still hope that she's actually experienced something better as a child.

I think Lilly revealed a lot about her childhood in "Fly Away". She almost broke into tears talking to Valens about how her mom didn't give her breakfast, or lunch, it looked painful.
