Not a 'shipper' but.....

..I was wondering, why does everyone think Kite is/was "spooky" or "weird" ?

I've learned a hard lesson in being a shipper on a few other shows, but curiousity gets the best of me as I've read those descriptions one too many times.

Is it the way the actor looks? or the way they've written Kite??

I don't really think he's "spooky" or "weird", he's just kinda cocky and full of himself which basically makes me wanna hit him. He's not altogether a bad guy, he's just NOT for Lilly. From the beginning it was all about "changing her", like "put your hair down" and stuff. Relationships don't work unless you can be yourself.

I never found Kite spooky or weird. I liked him as a character and (I'm in the minority here) I thought he and Lilly made a good couple and I hoped they could work things out but I guess it wasn't meant to be. When Lilly was with Kite, he really brought out another side to Lilly that we haven't seen since they broke up.

I never thought he was "spooky" or "weird", but it's true, a lot of people say that.
I thought he was a regular, nice guy. For me he didn't have the intentions of changing Lil, I think he just felt she needed to be pushed to have some fun. I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear here, but sometimes Lil seems like she doesn't want to have fun, and you got to make her have fun.
For me what made him look a bit like a jerk was the way he was written out. It was unexpected (for me at least) and I never thought things would happen that horrible way.

I to didn't think Kite was spooky or weird. I agree with Ryebeach- he did bring out a different side of Lilly. I do not think he was trying to "change" her either, she is who she is. I think he wanted her to know that there was more to life then just work. Also, I think people thought he was spooky or weird- because he broke off the relationship with her. If you look back in past forums, when the show was putting them together as a couple- their opinion of Kite was favorable-but once he dumped her he was seen as a terrible guy. People who want Lilly to hook up with Scotty- are now feeling the same way about Scotty(turning to Lilly's sister,and not to Lilly for comfort), as they do about Kite.

I loved Kite! But you all knew that already. ;D

But well... maybe people didn't like him because of the way things ended with him and Lilly... I mean, it was pretty all-of-a-sudden and I think the whole relationship just sorta happened a little too fast. While I liked them together, I will admitt that they could've set up the relationship a bit better.

I liked Kite until they decided to change his character. He did push Lilly a lot, but like Tati said, sometimes Lilly needs a little push. She has this comfort zone, and it's very difficult to get her out of it. Kite was able to get her to cut loose a little bit, and show that she isn't always all work and no play.

When they decided to write Kite out (for whatever reason), his character morphed into a selfish jerk. His one appearance this season stayed true to this "new" Kite when he seemed preoccupied on hooking up with Lilly again. The way he asked her about First Thursdays came across like he still didn't want a relationship, but he'd like to spend time with her. If Kite returned to the show and realized where he went wrong, I wouldn't be completely against him and Lilly again. Like CC Fan, I liked Lilly and Kite when they were together.

Wow, I never realized I was SO outnumbered!!! Anyway, all of you have a point--you've almost got me convinced that maybe Kite wasn't the jerk I always thought he was. Maybe I always watched him with a prejudiced eye .

ahh, I see now. I'm still catching up on all the first season episodes so I didn't understand the comments.
