I just can't wait. Does anyone know when season DVD's usually come out in stores? I hope sooner than later. One show that started in 1997 is only on it's 3rd season DVD! Another show from 2003 just released it's first season a month or 2 ago, so maybe this trend will continue. ;D

I concur with Falling's desire for the season one DVDs, to the ninth power! As much as I want them right away, even more would I insist on careful remastering (as befits the most creatively photographed show I watch these days). And some interesting extras. The mess made of the first seasons of "24" and "CSI" on disc should be an object lesson in how not to proceed.

Gee I wonder how long it takes for such a release. I would assume they would rerun Cold Case again during part of the summer.
If anyone can come up with the address for the show, fans could email or write in with a request.

I'm thinking that it takes atleast two seasons before they release them on DVD. I know that other Bruckheimer shows have come out and/or are coming out. CSI has a few seasons on DVD and I read somewhere that Without A Trace and CSI Miami (both of which will be finishing their second seasons) are coming out on DVD this summer. There is a Web site that tracks shows on DVD and you can vote for which shows you want to see on DVD. According to USAToday.com, the site is quite popular. Here's the link: www.tvshowsondvd.com/

My guess is we won't even get an announcement about Season 1's release till around the time the third season begins on TV and then it will be another 6-8 months after that before it will be released.
Ive been waiting for season 2 of "Malcolm in the Middle" since 2001 when the first season came out and FOX executives have said in interviews that the music clearance rights are what's holding up the release for that show and there weren't even that many songs in Malcolm so I can't imagine the headaches Warner Bros. and Cold Case producers will be going thru trying to get all of Cold Case's music cleared for DVD release.
My hope is when the rights were purchased for television broadcast they were also purchased for DVD but I have no idea if that is the case.

Awman, I really hope it doesn't come out too late. I just looked up if/when they'll be releasing it, but there's no word on when.
But I will admit, that the moment I find out when it comes out, I'll be pre-ordering it! ;D Who's with me?! [/size]

Here's some encouraging information. CSI: Miami Season 2 is set to be released on January 4, 2005. That was last season. Perhaps we'll see the Cold Case Season 1 DVD sooner than we think. I'm hoping for the Without a Trace Season 2 as well.

Hmmm. I wonder if securing the music rights for the ten or so songs per show in S1 won't make the DVD set more complex / expensive to produce. (Why Fox said "Ally McBeal" sets never appeared over here, after releases in Australia and the U.K.) We'll see. Haven't checked, but CC uses fewer songs this year, right?

Hmmm. I wonder if securing the music rights for the ten or so songs per show in S1 won't make the DVD set more complex / expensive to produce. Probably not because recent TV shows (after 2001, 2002)secure both the broadcast and DVD rights with music copyright holders when originally planning on airing an episode thus avoiding complications down the road when a DVD release is planned. I'm certain Cold Case has done this but perhaps InsideR can give the offical word on this matter next time she posts.
