Vera's vanishing weight

A short while ago I rented CSI Season 2 DVD's and spotted Jeremy "Vera" Ratchford as a slightly plumpish hockey player (episode 2.16). Then, last week I watched a ABC show with featured clips from failed TV pilots and who should I spot but Ratchford in a TV pilot called GENERATION-X based on the X-Men comics. This was 1992, long before the popular movies were made. You can tell because Ratchford was downright trim (and speaking with an Irish accent).

I didn't know Ratchford was Canadian. Was that how he got the hockey player part?

Jeremy was also on the last episode of Pensacola: Wings of Gold which starred Kathryn Morris in the ensemble cast. He used an irish accent in that episode too. I wonder what a little trimmer Jeremy would look like.
