This case takes place in 1953, and it revolves around an up and coming rock singer.
Put on your guessing caps boys and girls. Here are mine.
Bill Haley - "Crazy Man Crazy"
Perry Como - "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes"
Patti Page - "The Doggy in the Window"
Tony Bennett - "Rags to Riches"

Wow, it was not easy to find some sort of chart from that year. Here's one that I found. Here are my (very random) guesses: "Stanger in Paradise" - Tony Bennett "Pretend" - Nat King Cole "I've Got the World on a String" - Frank Sinatra "Hound" - Willie Mae Thornton

I just remembered that rock music was inspired by the black music back then. Leading me to believe that the majority of the music used will be black music.

Elvis Presley didn't make it big tell 1955. He entered the studio in 1953, but didn't release his first full length until 1955.

Roy Brown - "All She Wants to Do is Rock"
Big Mama Thorton - "Hound Dog"
George Weiss, Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore - "Can't Help Falling in Love With You"
That's the three songs I was able to identify. Interesting fact: Two of these songs were later covered by Elvis Presley.

Interesting fact: Two of these songs were later covered by Elvis Presley. Cool! Now did Elvis ever cover that first song?? You know, the one that went, "How much is that doggie in the window (arf! arf!)"... ;D

Not too sure, but I do know the original was sung by Patti Page.

Hey, here are the songs I got.
"(How Much Is) That Doggie In The Window" - Patti Page "Dimples and Cherry Cheeks" - The Andrews Sisters feat. Guy Lombardo "Bloodshot Eyes" - Wynonie Harris "The Sixty-Minute Man" - The Dominoes "Hound Dog" - Big Mama Thornton "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" - Elvis Presley
. . . okay, that is curious, because if TRB is right, then that song didn't even exist in that time . . . :/

The final song was originally performed by George Weiss, Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore, but was later covered by Elvis in 1961.
