Well, last weeks "Red Glare" was hard trying to figure out the songs but with this ep, it's 1985 and these songs were playing on the radio: 80music.about.com/library/pop/bl_1985.htmThere are SO many good songs on that list. My top picks would be: "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," by Wham. "Everybody Wants To Rule The World," by Tears For Fears. (Would make a great opening song) "Take Me On," by A-ha. "St. Elmo's Fire," by John Parr. "Careless Whispers," by Wham "Don't You Forget About Me," by Simple Minds. "Shout," by Tears For Fears. edited ep title..naj

You'll have to take "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" out because it was already used in "Greed" last season. However, a Tears for Fears song was used in Maternal Instincts so "Shout" would be a good guess.
My guesses are based on the fact that many of the artist have previously had their music in a cold case episode.
Shout by Tears for Fears Walkin' on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves All I Need is a Miracle by Mike and the Mechanics Easy Lover by Phil Collins Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon Broken Wings by Mr. Mister
Final Song Possibilities I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner Voices Carry by Til Tuesday

I love when we have 80s eps b/c that means 80s music! (I know it's cheesy, but I love it ;D ). Anyway, here are my guesses/wishes: Broken Wings by Mr. Mister - I used this song as my ending song in a script I wrote in the fanfic section, so I would love to see it used in the real deal. You're the Inspiration by Chicago - Just a good song As usual, I'm sure I'm wrong.

I also love the music from the '80s. Listening to that music brings back such wonderful memories for me.
Ok, here is my list of possible songs but I don't think any will be used.
Broken Wings The Power of Love Shout Voices Carry Take On Me Don't You Forget About Me You Spin Me Around Smooth Operator Relax I Feel For You In My House Lover Boy Sea of Love All I Need Is A Miracle I Want to Know What Love Is Walking on Sunshine
Sorry for having so many songs but I can never decide on which ones.

The opening song was "Only the Young," by Journey.
Then we had "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves.
The song playing when the killer is in the gun shop is, "The Dope Show," by Marilyn Manson. The song playing when the killer pulls over Janet and Susan was "Life in a Northern Town," by Academy Dream.
The ending song was "Long, Long Way To Go," by Phil Collins.

They've cut down on the number of songs per episode this season it seems. If you look back (if they are still here) of last season, I remember 10-11 songs per ep.
Thanks for the list, Ryebeach. :thumb:

I was watching this episode again, and it's interesting to note that several flashbacks don't have any "soundtrack" music in them at all.... (they just have the creepy minimalistic background score): 1) when the ranger warns the killer in the woods about "no poaching" (1985) 2) when the woman says goodbye to her sister on the bus (2001) 3) when the father drops off his daughter to go on her cross country run in the woods (1999) Also, they start questioning George at around the 35 minute mark, and from then on, there's no soundtracks until the final montage (probably explains the paucity of songs in this eppy). One other cool thing in this episode that I liked... was that Susan mentions that "walking on sunshine" was playing on the radio when her father hit her mother... The character was "self aware" of music playing in the scene... then it becomes a clue when the killer is singing it in the store (revealing that he read it in the domestic abuse report). Then there's Janet (the mom) hitting her husband over the head with the radio... In a weird way it's a self-parody

Awesome observations irishkale! I had noticed the lack of music during the three flashbacks that you mentioned. I actually thought that the lack of music worked well as a creepy element. If I remember correctly, the latter two you mentioned didn't have any dialogue either, adding to the creepiness. It was almost as if the flashbacks were mini films taken from the minds of the people telling the stories. I loved your take on the use of "Walking on Sunshine." It didn't even occur to me that this was the first time a song was an important part of the story. Music is such an important element in Cold Case, and I liked how this episode used it (or in some cases didn't use it) to really set the mood and add to the overall creepiness of the story. The Marilyn Manson song is a perfect example. Such a creepy song! Even the final song (by Phil Collins) had a very interesting beat that worked so well for the final scenes.

It turned out much more creepy than if a song was playing in the background.

There's two songs that haven't been ID'd yet for this ep... here's audio clips of them. I haven't had any luck identifying them: 1) Background music when Lilly visits Christina at the bar. www.kmrocks.com/audio/cc_ep2-09_song1.mp32) When the woman survivor is describing her experience with the killer (they mentioned it happened in 1997). www.kmrocks.com/audio/cc_ep2-09_song2.mp3EDIT July, 2006: I actually found #1 -- it's a "stock music" song from mastersource called "Far Too Long." You can also here it in the background of ep 2.16 ("Revenge") when Stillman visits his daughter's rapist at the Bar. I guess alot of bars in Cold Case like this song

Hi Irishkale,
I have no idea what those are--hopefully someone will. Hummer hasn't been around and he has been correct so far this year. Maybe you could pm him.
