That's ok, Eurache. If I were smart I wouldn't have looked in here. I'm just kinda annoyed because I liked the homey feeling of this series and I know they offed the husband just to have an excuse to be hooking up Annabeth with some chump... like they're trying to do with Lilly... in the end it's all a big soap opera. *Disgusted*

As Per Michael Ausiello, Entertainment reporter on TV Guide.com
Question: Is Annabeth's husband dead on Close to Home? — Staci
Ausiello: 'Fraid so. It's part of a larger revamp the show is undergoing during the hiatus. [glow=red,2,300]Spearheading the shake-up is former Law & Order exec producer Eric Overmeyer, who has been brought in as the new show runner[/glow]. I hear he's planning to introduce several new [glow=red,2,300](and, surprise, youngish!)[/glow] cast members, . Also, according to a source, there will be an attempt to get away from the small-town-type crimes. "The idea of watching the types of crimes that could happen 'next door' didn't seem to appeal to viewers," says my Eye spy. Short-story-shorter: Everything that made Close to Home unique will vanish, and now it'll become like every other crime procedural on TV. Hooray!!
And I so agree with Ausiello. Buh-bye 'Close To Home', well-come 'L&O: Indianapolis' or 'Grey's Coutroom'. (Yeah, I'm still bitter at Justin Chambers staying on that borefest instead of on CC.)

Close to Home was doing just fine. You don't have CSI like crime in Indianapolis. I live in Indiana so you have to take my word for it. And as for Justin Chambers. I've head he was sort of booted off CC. Do you know something we don't?

Do I really need to comment on this??? Does the public really want this--all this hot guy/hot girl, let's hook them up while they solve crimes, appeal to the < 18 group??? I'm so offended by this network's view of the public, I almost feel like quitting on Close to Home too.
THEY'RE RUINING ALL MY FAVORITE SHOWS. @#%@#%

LOOOOL Irishkale!!!! Yes, make her get kidnapped by aliens. Or make her get some life threatening disease so Annabeth can get her hot coworker to comfort her. Watch the fanfic spring into action!

I don't watch CTH, but I've been following the revamping saga through TVGuide.com (specifically Mike Ausiello and Matt Roush). It really is a shame that the network has decided to step in and basically redo the entire show. New cast members, new crime focus and new life for Annabeth. What a shame! I feel for all of you CTH fans. It reminds of when CBS stepped in and made CC add another female detective, and then Les Moonves decided that he didn't like the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective, so he booted her (not that I disagree with the move, but I'm not a fan of networks tinkering so much with their shows - leave that to the showrunners ).

Well said, TV. To each their own. Let the networks take care of where they stick the shows and the commercials, and leave characters and stories to the showrunners.

I'm breaking my vow of silence--I just gotta say something. Just watched the finale. It was brilliant--BRILLIANT!!! Sure I hate the idea of them having killed off Jack because I liked him and her home life, but the scene itself was wonderfully done. Very realistic, very moving--I could gush all day about Jennifer Finnigan's acting powers. They really pushed our feelings too, rubbing in the "I don't have enough time for you, let's plan vacation but oh man we never made it". It's dreadful, grueling and it ties my stomach up in knots. Cliched? Maybe. But brilliant all the same. Murphy's law in its most tragic way. All in all, a great episode. Now if ONLY they could bring Jack back from the dead after this great scene and make everything be the way it was, it would be perfect.

I figured since this show was cancelled I'd bump this one up. Hate to say, "I saw this coming." Killing off the husband after one season, changing the case dramatically, making the cases less close to home, well there you have it. And the big shocker at the end of the season of which people will never see the aftermath. Truth is I lost interest in the show until the last three episodes of the season. And let me tell you, it was unrealistic for Indianapolis. And now a show that started off good is gone before its time.

What can I say? You're absolutely right, R2K. The show lost me too, early this season. I actually got bored watching it around episode 4 or 5 and gave up altogether. What a shame. Maybe there IS such thing as too many procedurals after all. Truth is, once they took Annabeth's happy homelife away, it was just another crime show. Nothing made it original--nothing stuck out. They should have developed it in a "Medium"-like way... some crime, of course, but mostly a family show.

So how many seasons did it last?
They started showing it in prime time here last year but it only lasted a few weeks before they moved it to summer/non ratings time. From the episodes I watched it was a decent show bu obviously they decided to mes it up.

What was the big season finale cliffhanger, anyways? I stopped watching this show after like 3 eppys (3 eppys into SEASON 1, no less!) Did the baby develop a bad cough... or Shingles or something like that Although I have to say, Jennifer Finegan was pretty cute... she will for sure show up in other CBS offering in the future!

This season's last three episodes started with a cop being killed. It was discovered another detective was dirty. He was tried but found not guilty. Then, a witness that would put him away is found dead in the next ep. The finale had the black girl on the show getting killed off. Basically, a bunch of corruption in the police department was going on. It was not a pretty picture. At this point, Annabeth is the only original cast member left who has been there from the beginning. I'll be honest and say "Ghost Whisperer" was my Friday show. I simply can't sit there for so long watching shows. Probably why I stopped watching WaT too. Cold Case was great, but after that I couldn't watch. I'm all tired of CSI as well. I may still watch New York but not too much. I will tune in next season to see how Vegas turns out. And I'm not even going to start with what happened to Jericho. "Ticked off" is the only way to describe my feelings on that cancellation right now. CBS is crazy to get rid of that show. At least Cold Case and Ghost Whisperer survived. Needless to say, TV will be dominated my free time less next season.
Additional note: If any actor is smart, they'll stay away from CBS shows. With characters being killed off and shows being cancelled, they are better off somewhere else.

I still rather enjoyed this show. I actually stopped watching for a while first season, and began rewatching after Jack was killed. I thought it made it more interesting, Annabeth being a single mom. I would have liked to see more personal stuff, though.

I'm with Eurache here. I liked "Close To Home" and watched it throughout its run. It was sad and a change that they killed Jack, but I remained loyal to the series and its homely, family environment. Plus Jennifer Finnigan rocked too! I hope she comes back again in another show soon, she is a pretty girl!
