I've been meaning to start a thread on this show. I also love it. I've never laughed so hard as during the pilot. The female characters are so well written and well defined and the actresses are very believable in their roles. My favorites are Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman. I love the part in the 2nd episode when Marcia Cross' charcter is in with the doctor and she notices his button coming apart on his jacket, She eyes it so intently and reaches for her sewing kit. Too Funny!
Also I find it interesting that Brenda Strong, who plays deceased Mary Alice also plays deceased Julie Brown on Everwood. I wonder if that was a factor with her hiring. She's great in both roles.

It looks interesting. I caught part of the rerun over the weekend of the first episode. Anyone care to give a synopsis of what the show is about. I know a woman died and women on her street (some of them) are interested in her husband. Does the show continue in the present or does it switch back and forth before the woman dies.

Best line of tonight's episode: "Rex cries after he ejaculates."
Naj, the show takes place in the present and Mary Alice basically narrates from the dead. There is no switching back and forth so far, except for a little flashback in tonight's episode.

I'm trying to figure out just what is going on with Mary- Alice's husband and son. They seem to have some serious issues and I;m intrigued as to what is up with them.
There were so many funny parts last nite but my favorite was when Bree and Rex were at the counselor's office and Bree was so involved in the story she made up to fool everyone about how she and Rex were taking tennis lessons that she brought a tennis racket to the doctors office. Just one of many laugh out loud moments last nite on this great show.

'WIVES' IS TOO HOT
Source:http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/32154.htm
October 19, 2004 -- SEVERAL advertisers have yanked their spots from ABC's "Desperate Housewives" because of the show's racy content.
But that hasn't stopped the network from doubling the price it charges other advertisers for spots on the show.
Lowe's Home Improvement and Tyson Foods are no longer advertising on the Sunday-night hit — which is doubling ad prices because of its impressive ratings, according to Advertising Age magazine.
"We have a strict advertising policy against running in shows that contain gratuitous sex or violence, and our advertising agency uses it," a Lowe's spokesman told Ad Age. "We are no longer advertising on the show."
A spokesman for Tyson told the magazine that the show is "not consistent with our core values."
No need to worry about ABC. It has doubled the price of a 30-second ad from $156,000 to $300,000.
"Wives" is the highest-rated show on TV right now — but it is still in its first season and has a way to go to catch up with more established hits.
A 30-second ad on "Survivor," for instance, costs about $413,000, while a 30-second spot on "American Idol" goes for $658,000.
"Desperate Housewives," which follows the lives of randy suburban moms, has been averaging about 20 million viewers.

Anyone still watching this show? It just gets funnier with each episode.

I am! It's really awesome. At first Bree and her Stepfordian behaviour bugged me, but now I'm warming up to her. She and Susan are my favourite housewives.

Actor Evicted from "Housewives"
by Marcus Errico Nov 8, 2005, 2:30 PM PT
Wisteria Lane is suddenly in need of a new cellar dweller.
Page Kennedy, who played the shadowy Caleb, aka the Guy in Betty's Basement, was evicted from Desperate Housewives, ABC confirmed Tuesday.
Show spokeswoman Janet Daily said the role would be recast after Kennedy was terminated for "improper conduct." There were no details released on the nature of said misconduct, but Daily said the action was taken following a "thorough investigation" by producers at Disney's Touchstone Television.
Citing an anonymous source, the Associated Press reports Kennedy's alleged transgression did not involve another cast member.
There was no immediate comment from Kennedy (who, in an AP interview, referred to his Housewives gig as a chance of "making a name for myself") or his agent.
The 28-year-old actor joined the cast this season and has only briefly been seen as the captive locked up by neighborhood newcomer Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard). Caleb's story line has become central to this season's goings-on. Although it was initially hinted that Caleb was Betty's husband, the Oct. 23 episode suggested Caleb might be Betty's offspring. A conversation between Betty and son Matthew (Mehcad Brooks) indicated that Caleb is a fugitive from justice for the murder of a teenage girl in Chicago; it also appears Caleb has some kind of developmental disability.
Kennedy's final appearance will be on this Sunday's episode. Previews show his character escaping from his basement chains and running wild through Wisteria Lane.
Before joining Housewives, Kennedy had small roles on Six Feet Under (as a football player cum corpse) and in the movie version of S.W.A.T. (as one of the bad guys). He said he turned down roles on Showtime's Barber Shop, WB's upcoming Rebecca Romijn series, Pepper Dennis, and UPN's Love, Inc. so he could commit to Housewives.
He will also appear in the Usher film In the Mix, which opens Nov. 23--Kennedy's 29th birthday.
While he might not make a suitable sub for Caleb, Elton John has shamelessly been campaigning for a role on Housewives. The popster, who cast show star Teri Hatcher in his new video, tells Extra that Housewives is one of his fave shows ("it's so b*tchy and funny!") and he'd love to put in some face time.
Then again, Elton-as-Caleb could shake things up for the show, which has been losing viewers and critical goodwill in its second season. Backlash aside, Housewives is still the second-most watched show on TV behind CSI, averaging nearly 25 million viewers a week.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think season two is as good as season one was. Something just seems "off." I'm not really enjoying the mystery and most of the storylines have been ho hum. I'm still watching the show but am not enjoying it as much as I did. I hope it picks back up.

I totally agree, although, I think it has been much better lately. The beginning of the season was a bit slow to pick up, but it seems to be getting better.

Oh no, only 10 answers to this subject ... Must i deduce only a few people here like DH? I'm a great fan of this series, and i've seen seasons 1&2 plus 10 episodes from the third but unfortunately i can't find the following ones on the net ... Has the full third season already been broadcast in the US?

It is not because it has go worse. I'm trying to cut down the amount of shows I watch and I have no particular reason to watch DH. I'm sure they said they'd be simplifying the plots, with less characters, in season 3 but things seemed more complex than ever.
