Summary: In Obsidian Unconscious Lilly Rush was called to Silent Hill. Now a letter from Scotty's older brother beckons him to the very same place. How will the town welcome Scotty, and what's in store for both Scotty and Lilly?
Silent Hill: ..........
Prologue: Tonight’s not like most nights. There is an unsettling atmosphere here at the hospital. Will Lilly be ok? She was shot tonight during a crazy hostage situation, but the scum responsible for all of this pain is gone. I made sure of it. I wasn’t about to let some crazy scum get away with murdering an entire family, and nearly killing my boss. Nope, sorry, Scotty Valens doesn’t work that way.
I hear that Lil’s going to be alright. I believe she’ll be alright physically, but it’s her mental and emotion state I’m worried about. She just lost her mother today, and while I can’t say that her mom was deserving of any mother of the year awards, I know this has to be effecting Lilly. I wish there was something more I could do for her, but what can I do? All I can do is wait, and be there for her. The nurse comes out and tells me I should go home. Lil’s going to be staying in the hospital for awhile. No point in me waiting here all night and all day, she tells me. Reluctantly I leave, but not before looking at the door to the room for a moment.
I stop by a local store to pick up some frozen pizza. I doubt I’ll be sleeping anytime soon, and I’m starving. When I arrive at my home I notice a letter addressed to me. There’s no return address. Hesitantly I open the contents, and find a letter inside. What I read inside concerns me.
To Scotty,
Listen bro, I had to get away from Philly. There was too much going on. Too many memories. I wanted to go to a nice quiet place, and here I am in the beautiful resort town of Silent Hill, Maine. I really wanted you to come here to visit me. I know you might be busy, but I sent you a plane ticket anyways. The flight leaves tomorrow night at 9pm. I hope you can come here, and we can catch up for old time’s sake.
-Your brother.
I don’t know what to make of this letter. I haven’t heard from my brother since his testimony in court. I would like to see him, and see if he really is happy. First I need to tell Lilly, but that can wait til tomorrow morning. It looks like I’ll be going to bed after all. The pizza can wait.
*****
I’m back at the hospital, the doctors are allowing visitors to see Lilly. I sit on the chair next to her bed and watch her. She looks distressed, and also like she wants to cry. I hesitate telling her about the letter, but I figure I need to say something now. “Hey, I got a letter from my brother.”
“Hn?” Lilly asks softly and weakly. I hate seeing her like this, but I continue to talk. “He wanted to get away from this place. He’s visiting this place, and sent me plane tickets to come see him.”
“Where?” Lilly asks again. I run a hand through my hair, and answer, “Some place called Silent Hill. Never heard of the place actually.” When I look at Lilly again her normally distressed expression is now one of terror and dread. “Hey, Lil, what’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a killer.”
*********
When I heard the name of that place I froze. How can I even tell Scotty that I visited that place, Silent Hill? He would never in a million years believe me, or what I went through during that time. I don’t want him to go, but I can’t stop him. I can’t say anything, but I don’t want to lose him. Weakly I smile, and say, “Have fun.” Inside though I’m crying.

Chapter 1
I've informed my partners, and my boss that I need to visit my brother. I explained to them that he discovered he had cancer, and wanted to see me before his life completely turned hopeless. Thankfully they buy that story. Except for Lilly, but I didn't tell her that little lie. No point in upsetting her even more. I decide to make one last stop to see Lil before I leave. When I enter the room she's propped up on the bed, but she's just sitting there staring.
"Hey, Lil, I thought I'd come here before I leave." I walk up to the seat next to her bed and sit down. When she doesn't turn around I place my hand on her arm, but when she flinches away I pull away. "Is everything alright Lil"? She turns around to face me, and her expression worries me. It's so void of emotions, and the weak smile she gives doesn't reassure me.
"I'm fine." She answers. I think she's lying, but I'm not going to pry. "Is there anything you want to talk about, Lil"? I wait patiently for her answer, and receive it when she lets out a weak laugh. "No, just have a good time at that place."
I'm still worried about her, but I decide to leave it alone. "Don't worry, I will." I say as I pat her on the arm and then leave the room. I have all the belongings I need packed. All I need to do is drive to the airport.
***************************************************
I still can't believe that Scotty's going to Silent Hill. Actually I can't believe alot of things. I can't believe my mom's actually gone, and that I've been shot. It's too surreal, and I know I should be crying but I can't bring myself to do it. I continue to stare at the walls with my feelings of repressed pain inside. It's only when another doctor enters the room and the room slowly goes dark that I take notice.
"Lilly Rush, looks like you got a bad injury." the doctor tells me.
"Thanks for pointing out the obvious". I weakly snap at the doctor. I then realize that the man in the room is Kevin. "Wait, how did you get in here?" I ask.
"How did a man with a gun get into your precinct?" he asks me, "Humans are not very perceptive creatures." he tells me. I glare at him, and ask, "What brings you here?"
Kevin walks to the foot of my bed and checks out my charts. "I was sincerely hoping you would have learned your lesson, but I can see that you haven't learned anything."
This makes me upset, but there's no point in crying over it. "What do you mean I haven't learned anything"? I ask with just a touch of anger and confusion in my voice. Kevin gives a cold smile to me before he checks my blood pressure. "Your mother died. You've been shot, and now your friend and partner is leaving. You are in a great deal of pain, but you refuse to let your emotions flow."
I pause for a moment to think, "It's not good to let your emotions rule you." I finally answer. Kevin's now checking my heart rate. "Your heart rate is erratic Lilly. If you continue this path it will break soon. I shudder to think what will happen". He tells me.
I sigh and turn away from him. "I miss mom." I answer pathetically. He looks at me as if though he understands, and he pats me on the head. "Maybe you're not past hope after all". he then walks to the door and tells me, "Now excuse me I need to go wash my hands." I smile at him, and he leaves the room. Then I decide to go to sleep.
*******************************************************
Location: Silent Hill, Maine. Time: 12:24 am
After the plane landed at the airport I stopped by a car rental place and rented out a nice little car, and then drove the rest of the way to Silent Hill. I was confused when I found the town devoid of all life. There were no cars driving on the road. Business looked very dead, and even the homes appeared devoid of life. I begin to wonder if I had the right place. Perhaps Mike had sent me the wrong tickets by mistake. No, that couldn't be it. It was midnight, perhaps this was one of those towns that slept extremely early. I continued to drive along the road until I spotted a sign that read "Now re-opened under new management! Lakeview Hotel!"
The fact that this was the only place opened gave me the creeps. I parked the car inside the parking lot and debated with myself if I should get a room. Mike had forgot to mention where he was staying. After much pondering I reluctantly decided that going into the hotel was not for me. I locked the doors in the car, and proceeded to make myself as comfortable as possible before I fell into a deep sleep.

Chapter 2
Let me share with you a lesson kids, and adults. Sleeping in a car is not good. No matter how hard you try you cannot get comfortable. I had managed to fall asleep for a good three hours before a loud rapping on the windows startled me awake. I looked around before my eyes spotted a young boy, no more than 13 years old standing next to my window and peeking in. I looked at the other side and noticed a girl also of the same age. They looked like twins actually. I heard the young man rap on my window again. "Alright! Just a minute!" I snap.
I step out of the car, and give the nosy young man a look. "What's going on kid? You lose something? Where's your parents at?" the boy looks up at me, and then past me. I turn around to see what I assume to be his sister walking towards us. "Actually, Mr. we were wondering who you were"? the girl asks me.
"I'm Scotty Valens, but who are you? Don't you know that knocking on a stranger's window is dangerous?" I answer them, but ask one of my own. The boy looks crestfallen as he says, "We were told to check on you by our father. He was just concerned because you didn't come into the hotel." His sister then added, "We worked so hard to get it rebuilt too."
I cocked my eyebrow and replied, "Sorry kids, but I just didn't want to check in last night." I hope this will get them off my backs. It doesn't, and the boy says, "Maybe you can stay tonight! It's a really nice place!" he looks up at me like I'm his favorite uncle that he hasn't seen in years. I raise my eyes to Heaven and then tell them, "I came here to find my brother. His name's Mike Valens. You know anywhere he could be?"
The girl now takes a turn in getting excited, "Mike Valens? He checked in a couple of nights ago! He's been so anxious to see you!" I then feel the two young teens pull on each of my arms as they drag me to the entrance of the hotel. "Alright, alright!" I pull my arms away from them, "I can walk myself, there's no need to drag me here." The twins look at me dejected and I immediately apologize, and ask them for their names.
"My name's Alexander and this is my sister Alexia!" the boy answers happily. I smile at them and thank them for the information.

Rest of Chapter 2
Lily
It's dark in the room. The only signs of life are the machines at work to keep me comfortable and well. Occasionally a nurse walks in to check on me. I wish they would stop though, I'm fine. I don't need anything, or anyone. Someone once said that when a person is so badly hurt, and damaged for so long that they get used to it. I shudder loudly. Have I really become that type of person? I can feel a deep pain inside of my chest, and it feels like something is wanting to break free. I swallow and hold it in. Then I shut my eyes.
Least I think I shut my eyes. I don't know how to describe it, but I feel a new sensation. I'm surrounded by a blackness so dark that no light can penetrate it. I also feel nothing. No emotions, no regrets, nothing. It's the best feeling I've ever had in my entire life, and I yearn for more. Alas the feeling lasts for only a minute as I am pulled awake by the sound of coughing. I flutter my eyes open to see Kevin sitting next to me. I cock an eyebrow, "What are you doing here?"
Kevin looks at me in the eyes, and simply answers, "You called me, Lillian Rush". I glare at him, but his expression remains cold. Resigned I simply whimper, "What do you want"?
He reaches out to move a strand of hair away from my face. I can't say I didn't appreciate the effort, but the fact that afterwards he squirts Purell on his hands is a bit much for me. "Thanks." I say coldly. He looks at me with those pitch black eyes of his. "Welcome". He answers back coldly.
We sit there, and I wait for him to say something. Even if it is something cold and hurtful, but I figure I need it. The silence is broken when he says, "You can't keep your soul and emotions trapped forever in that steel fortress. One of these days they will come out. I can only hope that you, Lillian Rush, do not snap, and become one of my brother's own."
"I highly doubt I'm going to snap." I answer back. I choose to ignore the comment about his brother. I hear a resigned sigh from him, "By the eternal law passed down by my mother I must allow you to go by freewill." He stands up, and drops a chain with a medallion on it. Once he's left I examine it. I remember the design back in Silent Hill. A memo I found called it the Mark of Sandalphon. I wonder about wearing it, because I'm not in Silent Hill, and there aren't any weird demons here. I can't get rid of it though, and if I leave it on the table someone will notice it. I clutch in my hands, curl into the fetal position and fall asleep.

Chapter 3
Scotty Valens.
I followed the twins into the hotel, but before I could follow them any further they had hightailed it out of the front hallway area, and through a set of doors. My curiosity getting the better of me I followed them through the doors I had seen them going through. As I opened them and looked around it dawned on me that they were gone. I was confused, and when I’m confused I tend to get aggravated. In my aggravation I punched the wall closest to me. I then realized that I probably shouldn’t have done that when I realize I’ve left a punch mark in the wall. The right thing to do would be to pay for the damage. I check my wallet for safe measure and count the marks. Perhaps the owners will be satisfied with $150 for the damages.
I spot a map on the wall and against my inner voice I grab it. I look at the map and when I realize that the reception area is just to my right I consider tossing the map away. It’s never good to rely on things too much, because you lose your senses. I pocketed the map and walked to the reception area. I didn’t see anybody in there. “Hello? Hello, anybody here?” I yelled while ringing the bell. Nobody answered. “Great service.” I muttered sarcastically to myself. I looked around get, but nobody was coming. Were they hurt? That would be a good reason not to answer a potential customer’s constant shouting. I placed my hand on the gun inside of my hoister and went searching for anything wrong. Much to my dismay when I entered the reception booth it was completely empty save for a few belongings strewn here and there. The only other door was locked. I silently cursed under my breath. This whole thing was becoming rather dumb. I went to exit the building when a glint of light caught my eyes. There were mail boxes inside of this place, and inside one of them was a key along with an envelope. I took the key noting the numbers inscribed on them. Room 204. The envelope was marked with the name “Scotty Valens” on it. Being a detective you tend to be a bit speculative about things, and you have this drive to find out things. Here I was of course opening the contents of the envelope, and eventually reading the piece of paper found with in.
Hey Bro, I’m in room 204 at the moment. There should be a key there. Anyways might want to hurry up. - Mike Valens.
I quickly folded up the piece of paper, and proceeded to make a beeline for room 204. I had looked at the placards, but ultimately figured that room 204 had to be on the second floor. As I walked up the steps it suddenly occurred to me that this place was completely empty. There were no signs of life, and even the twins were nowhere to be found. Something inside of me told me to run away and never look back. I ignored the feeling and continued on. I made my way to room 204 and used the key to open it. What I found next shocked me.
Rather it was what I didn’t find. Mike was nowhere to be seen. “Mike? Hey Mike where ya at?” I called out. I took a look around the room somewhat concerned over the lack of anything belonging to Mike in here. “Hey! Come on Mike this isn’t funny!” I shouted. Was he playing some sort of joke on me?
Five minutes later I gave up and slumped on the bed. I became lost in my own thoughts when a knock was heard. Startled I quickly grabbed the gun from my hoister and pointed it at the intruder. I quickly put it away when I found out it was Alexander and Alexia who had knocked. “Oh hey, you guys disappeared.” I said pointedly.
“Actually, we didn’t Mr. You did.” Alexia said calmly. Her brother had taken measures to explore the room. He would occasionally straighten up a few things here and there, and at one point left a honey packet on the table.
“Alright, I don’t have time to argue. I need to know what’s going on here.” I looked at the twins sternly to show that I meant business. Alexia started to brush her hair. I rolled my eyes. “Why are you in such a rush Mr. Valens? This town’s so beautiful but you don’t even want to look around.” Alexander asked.
I remained calm, “Listen, I only came here to see my brother.” I told them this matter of factly.
“Oh, we’re sorry Mr.” Alexia said, “but he’s over at the bowling ally.” I looked at them, and rolled my eyes. Not wanting to deal with them anymore I took off, and headed to the bowling ally. As I headed out of the hotel it dawned on me that Mike hated bowling.
********************************** Lilly Rush.
I was certain that I was asleep, because the things I was seeing were the things only in my mind. I was in the middle of a forest while it was raining. I felt like I was being hunted, but in a perverted since like I was a hunter also. I looked around my surroundings cursing the darkness. It was then that I heard a familiar laugh. I quickly turned around with my gun pointed to the source.
“George.” I replied bitterly.
“Lilly, Lilly, Lilly still dreaming about me? You know I thought I told you not to flatter yourself.” I heard him say with condescending glee.
I glared at him, my gun still pointed at him. “What do you want George?” I asked him pointedly.
“Oh dear, has Lilly gone completely stupid? You are forgetting that this is just a dream, and so you Lilly brought me here.” George answered.
I lowered my gun slightly. “This is more than a dream.” I stated matter of factly. “Yep, yep, and little Lilly wasn’t attacked by the big bad man. I bet he messed little Lilly up real good.” George smiled at Lilly like a cat with a canary.
I wasn’t going to let him score against me. I raised the gun, and pulled the safety off. “Think again.” I pulled the trigger, the loud bang suddenly jolting me awake.
I gasped and looked around the room. I noticed Nick Vera in the room standing there. “Hey, Nick, what’s up?”
He shrugged, but what he said next threw me for a loop. “I came to check in on you, but this room was completely dark. The only light seemed to be on you. None of the power is out, and your machines are still working.”
“But, it was completely dark in here?” I asked.
“Yep, pretty much so.” Nick said matter of factly.
I gave out a sigh. This was probably going to be a long week or whatever. Nick excused himself from the room. I sighed, took a look around and noticed a book on the table next to me. Curiously I picked it up and noted a section where it had been ear marked. I flipped to that particular page and read the contents.
Incubus.
My blood ran cold. I was never into demonology, but I remembered something about them being demons that raped women in their sleep. I considered putting the book down, but continued to read it.
In the beginning a man offered a serpent to the sun and prayed for salvation. A woman offered a reed to the sun and asked for joy. During these times having a child was a huge deal and cause for celebration. Potential mothers to be would offer a sacrifice of burning reeds to he called Roberusu Bisu. Under the sign of joy and of Tyr, Bisu the God of fertility would protect the soon to be mother and her child. When the first settlers came influenced by some of their own beliefs they renamed the deity incubus.
It should be noted that to this group the Incubus was not a demon that raped women in their sleep, but rather the spirit of a priest, or an archangel that watched over an incubating woman in her sleep.
I cocked my eyebrows, and then muttered, “Riiii-iiiiight.” just before setting the book down on the table and falling asleep.
