The Diary Of Anne Frank-it is so sad. Lol! So there is a book that's translated from Dutch to English! I didn't know Anne Frank's diary was also English! As you all know, Anne Frank is Dutch. And I'm Dutch too XD Anyway, Anne Frank seems to be very important here. All kinds of museums and houses are made for her. Tomorrow I've got a project at school about her. And I've made several essays about the girl. Oh, and yeah, I've read the book. And I hated it! Ofcourse it's sad and it gives a lot of information about Holland that time. But I can't stand her! All the problems about boys and toilets! I don't like the book. And I don't understand why she's so important. There are also other people who have lived the war, but oh no, Anne Frank is so young and sad. She must be honoured like a goddes. That's how some people think over here. That project tomorrow at school is gonna be so boring.. Really, if you live here, you see, hear and read to much Anne Frank. It's no good.

Actually,(not to sound like a know-it-all), she is German(and I'm Gernam, too : . But she did emigrate to Holland around 1933, when Hitler emerged. So am I. My grandma on my mom's side went to Holland a couple of years ago, around 2006, she said she saw this adorable Dutch girl around 13...she took a picture, and now that's my mental image of what you look like. LOL, I wonder if everyone on this board has a mental image of what other people look like, or if I'm just weird wierd weird. Oh, I give up. No matter how I spell it, it still looks-dare I say- weird wierd weird. ANYhoo, about those mental images? What do I look like, people? ;D

ANYhoo, about those mental images? What do I look like, people? ;D I don't know. I always connect people with their avatar. And when they change it I have to think very hard to remember who it is! I'll post a picture of me some day. Then you'll see how 'Dutch' I look like. Anyway, this is the reading thread. We'd better discuss these things in the Random thoughts thread or something.

Hmmm... That's weird, I haven't formed a mental image of anyone I don't think... But someone shld start a thread on it if they haven't already, I want to know what other people think lol!
Right... Back to the thread topic! I just finished reading shindler's list. Amazing. And I finished a samantha kincaid book by alafair burke... Can't remember what its called but its the last in the series... Well, so far, I'm hoping there's more. I just finished The Historian as well, by elizabeth kostova. Great book, but so long! Took me about a week to get through it! Now I'm going to start reading insomnia by stephen king, and the catcher in the rye. I've got a list of the top 100 books to read and I want to get through it! 45 to go, I think lol.

The Historian and The Catcher in the Rye are great books!!! I'm reading "Macbeth" by Shakespeare at the moment. I love William Shakespeare. He is definitely one of the best playwrights of all time . One of my top 10 influential writers on my list. I love reading plays because you can see how the playwright describes the stage directions, the background, the position of the actors, etc. It's really what I look to when I write my fan-fictions because I've read many sides(mini scripts that actors/actresses get for a scene) that I want to get my fanfiction close to an actual script.

I finally finished the Subtle Knife. Oh my, I'm so slow. But I was writing a lot, so reading came second. But I'm ill now so I have the time. I'm now reading the excerpt of the Amber Spyglass, which is in the back of The Subtle Knife. I'm not sure I'm going to read the third one. I'm not a huge fan of the whole 'warinheaven-thing'. Anyway, I still got loads of Terry Pratchet books in my closet, so I'm not going to be bored

I got a couple Terry Pratchett books for Christmas one year, and honestly, just the pictures creeped me out (rats) and made me not want to read them. But that was many years ago, maybe I should have another look. I know I said I don't like Shakespeare, and that's because I don't, but I just started reading Hamlet for English and I actually like it. I think it's because it's not like the other Shakespeare plays; it's got a modern aspect to it (I don't even think the language is as complex as his other works). So far I'm enjoying it, but apparently nothing happens until Act Five (I'm currently in Act Two) so we'll have to see how that pans out.

But that was many years ago, maybe I should have another look. My brother's got the one with the rats. He says it's pretty good. I haven't read much of Terry Pratchet yet. -The Monstrous Regiment -Feet of Clay Those are the only ones actually.. Mostrous Regiment was great! I've read that one twice already ;D My brothers have got almost all of the Terry Pratchet books. I now started The Hogfather. I was already busy with that one, but The Subtle Knife came between it. Now I have to read the beginning again, for I don't remember where it's about!

You read very fast! I guess I do! Finished that (amazing book... Odd, wonderful characters, meandering storyline) and now I'm onto Perfume by Patrick Suskind. Loved the movie so I'm looking forward to see how similar they are. Also hoping nothing will be lost in the translation. I've got a design book to read for my new job as well... But its not too long.

Now reading NEXT by Michael Crichton. It's kind of disturbing... I've just come to the bit with the little chimp who talks. Aww.

I'm in the middle of the Hogfather right now. I'm a slow reader. But it's English, not my first language, so I guess it doesn't mind. I really like it! I can't stop laughing about the things Terry Pratchet thinks of. I mean, an oh god of Hangovers..? The thing with Pratchet's books is always; I have to get into the book first. That normally takes a page of 100 XD. That might also just be because I don't understand everything. I do think he's a great writer! And when I finish that one.. Oh, I got tons of books I want to read! Since I started reading English like a year ago I've only read English from that day! I want to read Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. I've read the Hobbit, but not the trilogy yet. And I got 10 other Discworld novels from Terry Pratchet on my desk, from my brothers. And maybe I'm going to read the last part of His Dark Materials from Philip Pullman. But I'm not so sure about that. I've read the first 2 already. And I still have loads of Dutch books to read also! I won't be bored! ;D

Awesome thread; how in the world did I never notice it before?
I'm currently about halfway through Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens, which I'm absolutely loving the heck out of so far. I'm such a Dickens fangirl.
