Trouble Logging in? Please read.

Problems Logging In

I login fine, but when I click a link it logs me out! Or, I cannot login at all!

Your issue should be solved by doing the following:

1. Make sure the date & time on your computer match the forum.

2. Make sure you select "forever" when you login.

3. Make sure you have cookies enabled:

For Internet Explorer 6+:

1. Click on tools on the menubar on your browser
2. Click on Internet Options on the drop menu
3. On the window that pops up, click on the privacy tab
4. Put the arrow and track so that the arrow is on low
5. Click ok


This will enable third party cookies:

1. Click on "Tools" on the menu bar on your browser
2. Click on "Internet Options" on the drop menu
3. On the window that pops up, click on the security tab
4. Click on the custom button
5. On the little window that pops up, scroll down to where it says cookies, and make sure the radio button is in the enabled position
6. Click save

To Clear cookies:

1. Click on "Tools" in your menu bar.
2. In the "General" tab, in the "browsing history" section, click "delete" to delete your browsing history, cookies, and temporary internet files.

In Firefox:

To enable cookies:

1. Click "Tools" in your menu bar.
2. Select "options".
3. Click the "Privacy" tab.
4. In the "cookies" section, make sure these two boxes have checks in them: "accept cookies from sites" and "enable third party cookies".

To clear cookies:

1. Click "Tools" in your menu bar.
2. Select "options".
3. Click the "Privacy" tab.
4. In the "history" section, click "clear now" to clear your private data.

I've been having a login problem since last week.
When I login, it often shows ' Welcome guest, please login or register', if not all the time. Can't access restricted area or post something,
but my username is shown as online user.

Is it just happening to me or has anyone ever had this kinda problem too?
I've already tried what was posted above. No improvement so far.
If someone could tell me the conceivable cause and the solution in regard to this matter, I'd appreciate.

If rabi had done everything that is suggested and she has a IE 6 browser, then my next suggestion is for a copy of this board URL be sent to her. I PMed Naj to send this board's URL to rabi to see if that will help.

I'm not computer savvy, but so far, based on my experience with problems on chatroom, I send them the URL and that seem to help. Maybe there was some adjustment on this board that we don't know about? Or when we embedded the new chat room; it did something?

So since I don't have rabi's email, I suggested to Naj to send our URL. Hope that works

There is a drop down selection. Choose "Forever"

Also, since the time has changed, no more Daylight savings, please check your time and date on your computer and make adjustments accordingly.

You gonna stay with us foreva and eva!! Muahaahah ;D j/k .. I think that when you told us that you were getting login all the time, that you would put "forever" to stay in, but since the link Naj sent you worked, then there should be no problems. You can still be invisible, but we like to see ya sometimes

Note to anyone who has problems logging in

I've been trying since last night to login and it kept saying "error you must log in or register" wouldnt' accept my handle name or password. So I tried to see if this time period meant anything I changed from 6 hours to forever! It worked, finally was able to get in now..geez..

Yep, that was the only way I could figure it out was by reading what had happened here.

Okay..I finally figure out what was wrong and I don't have to hit foreva button Apparently, I was one day ahead of everyone I had Saturday date today geez...

Dammit now I can't get in at all at times. I tried to change newsfader, but it's not showing I tried to post only to be brought back to "login" (at times this happens) Tried to get into Lilly's bedroom, same thing.. this sucks

let me try clearing out caches and temp files again Otherwise, if you don't see, can someone ask proboard if there is a problem or what I should do?

Yep when I looked in the corner of my computer it showed Saturday's date

I saw you posted on proboard..did temp turn off norton, but no.... that's not it

I just couldn't see my change newsfader and that I posted in here.. I can see what I posted, but it didn't show up when you view my handlename that i posted in here? does that make sense? I checked my profile to see if the time was correct.. this is not the only board I'm having problems now

You are not going to believe it, but now i changed to Saturday's date and I'm able to post here now Not sure what will happen if I post this and then click home page *sigh* Just what I need before I go away

So far, the only way I can post in here is to be 24 hours ahead of time So I got Sunday's date now and I still have to click on "forever"... I don't know if it's the following:

a. my battery is going?

b. could be when hubby wanted to get to his work emails from home that I had to download this program?

c. or my various firewalls and such are screwing me up

This sucks

This is what I suspected. That sounds like your own computer having a time problem. That would be unrelated to this message board.

Yep, I read what Craig said, and turned off my firewall, and Norton firewall, but nothing changed then turned off my Antivirus..nothing changed.

Most likely it's the battery on my clock computer; it's an old CPU, so it's probably time to change it. This CPU is about 5 yrs old, so it's probably time to change it.

Right now, I'm on 24 hours ahead of time, for some strange reason, I'm able to post and stay online with the boards.

I'll have to look into this when I get back from Calif. I don't have time to fool around now and fix things.. geez..
