Title: Should’ve Said No
Summary: Title comes from a video on YouTube - - Loved this video, and it has given me inspiration to write a story about the Lilly/Scotty/Christina triangle. Set during season 2, period after Lilly finds out Scotty is sleeping with Chris. The fight from “Wishing” has not happened. How will the two cope? Will they ever be the same?
Rating: PG-13
Authors Note: I think this story will be a little shorter than expected, maybe 10 chapters at the most, have to see how it goes. Enjoy and reviews are very much appreciated. *************************************************************************************
It had been a rough weak for Lilly, finding out her sister was sleeping with her partner. She sat at her desk, staring at a file, but not reading it. She felt a wave of jealousy drifting over her. The thought of Scotty’s hands over sister’s body made her want to scream out loud. She let the file drop from her hands, looking around the room. No one was left at work, only her, still sitting at her desk while she tried to compose herself. She knew Scotty was going through hard times, but she didn’t know why he had to go as low as sleeping with his partner’s sister. She stood up slowly, placing all the files in the nearest box, sealing it, and then placing it under her desk. She gathered her things, and then went to turn around. As she turned around, her eyes stared into Scotty’s. “Leaving huh?” “Yep, see you tomorrow.” With that she pushed past him, giving his shoulder a hard budge. Scotty rolled his eyes, the ice queen act starting to get on his nerves. He quickly gathered his things, hoping to catch up with her before she reached her car. That he did, he found her opening her car door and placing her bag on the passenger seat. “Lil, can we talk?” “Sorry, I need to go home.” Lilly reached the driver door, opening it, but instead of getting in, looked over at Scotty. “Come on Lil, you can’t keep treating me like this.” “I can do whatever I want.” “It’s my love life, not yours!” Scotty’s words received a glare from Lilly, but he needed to know why it bothered her so much. “And she’s my sister, not some random woman.” “What’s so bad about me being with your sister?” “She’s messed up Scotty,” she yelled loudly, slamming the car door shut and walking over to him. “Maybe she is, but to me, she’s not!” “Fine, but uh, whoring it out with a cocktail waitress won’t bring back your dead girlfriend.” The words hit Scotty like a ton of bricks. His fists started to clench as his jaw buckled. Lilly regretted it as soon as she said it, realising Scotty knew nothing about Patrick. She knew she was taking it too far, but she couldn’t help the hurt that was filling her up. “That’s...low Lil, real low,” his eyes didn’t meet hers, yet stayed on the nearest building across the road. He saw the movement from her out of the corner of his eye, which made his eyes return to her, he watched as she got in her car and drove away. Scotty sat down in the gutter, breathing in as he felt himself on the verge of tears. He couldn’t help the tears that fell down his cheek. Cars passed, people walked by, but none of that bothered Scotty. Two hours later, he came out from his little world. He stood up slowly, as she tried to wipe the dried tears on his face. As he walked towards his car, he thought about the way Lilly had reacted. He had never seen her so angry or heated since the day he had met her. What was so bad about him being with Chris? It’s not like he had slept with Lilly and then slept with Chris. Why was she so hurt by it? He shook the thoughts away, concentrating on making it to his car. ** “Chris, I’m home.” Scotty slipped through the doors of his apartment, taking off his coat and throwing it on the couch. “Hey.” Chris came from the bedroom wearing an old shirt of Scotty’s. “Where’d you find that?” “Uh, in your drawers.” “Can I talk to you?” Scotty asked, sitting down on the couch. “Why, what’s wrong?” “I talked to Lilly today...she’s pretty mad.” “Don’t worry, she’ll get over it.” “Chris, she ain’t getting over it. I wanna know why things are so bad between you.” Chris sat down on the couch, holding onto Scotty’s hands. “It’s best you don’t know.” “Just tell me.” “Look ok, a while back, Lilly was engaged.” “Really?” “Yeah, and late one night, she was on patrol, it was just me and her fiancé, and then we had some drinks...one too many and one thing lead to another.” Scotty was positive his heart just stopped. He pulled his hand away from Chris; standing up her ran his hand through his hair. “When was this?” “9 years ago.” “God...but why is she blaming me? It’s not like I knew.” “I don’t know, I guess seeing me with someone she cares about, it reminds her of what happened.” Scotty stared down at Chris, seeing what he thought was guilt in her eyes made him pity her. “Well she’s going to have to deal with it, ‘cause you ain’t going nowhere on my account.” A smile lit up on Chris’ face as Scotty picked her up. At that time Lilly lay in bed over at her place, staring up at the ceiling. She felt angry towards Scotty, but knew there was a pinch of jealousy in there too. She tried to ignore it, hoping that everything would just fade away. Obviously this was not the case. She regretted what she had said to Scotty that night, but half of her wished he would show up on her door telling her Chris was gone and that he was sorry. Sadly, she knew very well this would not be the case. She sad up in bed, patting Olivia as she looked down at the floor. The last few nights had been horrible for her, tossing and turning, sweating and crying. She hoped tonight would be an easier night ahead, but clearly there was no sleep in sight for her. *************************************************************************************

Channelkid, this isn't a Scotty/Christina story, I really hate Chris mainly because she ruined the biggest chance for Lilly and Scotty to get together. I will always write for Lilly/Scotty, no one else ** Scotty decided from the day forward, he should leave Lilly alone for a week, hoping by then, she would have her emotions controlled. He didn’t talk to Lilly unless it was completely necessary, this left it open to Lilly to mend things with him. On afternoon during the week, Lilly grabbed her coat along with her purse and stood up. “I’m going to get some coffees, anyone want anything?” Lilly felt the pressure getting too strong. Being in the same room with Scotty made her want to walk up to him and slap him across the face. “I’ll come.” Scotty stood up, smiling over at her. Her glares came upon him, the rest of the team watching as it looked like Lilly was about it burst. Everyone was now aware of Scotty and Christina’ fond relations, all of them feeling anger towards Scotty for hurting Lilly the way he was. “I’ll have a coffee, and can you get a bagel.” Nick whispered over to Lilly, hoping to break the ice. “Anyone else?” No one said a word, making Lilly start to storm out the department. Scotty followed after her, knowing her emotions were still getting in the way or work. “You know treating me like this ain’t very professional,” the lobby sounded empty to Lilly, until those words were said, she felt like the whole room had their eyes on her. “Don’t you dare tell me what is or not professional.” Lilly was inches away from his body, the heat coming off his body, the smell of his cologne and the way his jaw twitched made her question why she was fighting with him when she could be telling him about how she was feeling. “Why not? You don’t like being told you’re doin’ the wrong thing.” Lilly felt her emotions and feelings raging. Half of her wanted to punch him, the other wanted to grab him and kiss him. She pushed away the thoughts of kissing him, acting as if she had never thought of them. “Because I can do what I want, and I don’t really care if you have a problem with it.” “Fine then, things will just stay like this, ‘cause Chris ain’t going anywhere.” “Great for you two.” Lilly started to walk again, pushing past people as she walked down the street. Scotty caught up to her, walking beside her as she fumed. “Ya know Lil, what happened between you and her, and your fiancé was 9 years ago, why can’t you just get over it?” Lilly couldn’t believe what she was hearing out of his mouth. How could the ‘Scotty’ she met, the kind Scotty who opened doors for her, the Scotty who cracked jokes and made her smile, how could that ‘Scotty’ be treating her like this. She stopped in her tracks, at the same time, Scotty stopping. She moved closer to him, Scotty not sure what she was going to do. Within seconds her hand collided with his face, making Scotty yelp in pain. She pulled her hand back, straightening her coat and continuing to walk. However, Scotty stood there, the slap leaving a red mark over his right cheek. People stared at him as they walked by, a few children giggling. Scotty slowly made his way back to Lilly, acting as if nothing had happened. The whole day went on the same, the two not saying a word to each other, nor taking gaze at each other. ** The next day was First Thursdays. Lilly tossed up the idea of going, not knowing if she could face being in the same room with Scotty. But that was not her biggest problem. She was almost positive if she found herself in the same room as alcohol, she would not be able to stop herself from drinking, and she was certain she would get drunk. “You coming to First Thursdays tonight Lil?” Lilly looked up at Will, not knowing what to say, she looked over Nick. “Uh, yeah.” “Great.” Lilly went straight home, not knowing whether to dress up to see if she could pick up a man, or to stay in her work clothes and not worry about flirting at all. She decided on staying in her work clothes, another day was another day; she would start dating when she felt something towards someone. But Lilly questioned why she didn’t want to date. Even though she had just broken up with Kite, why couldn’t she have a fling? It was definitely not her thing, but what was so bad about the idea? Was it Scotty? Before Chris came along, Lilly was sure there was a chance for something between them, and now...nothing. “Stop it,” she screamed out loud, wanting to stay professional with him, her job being the only thing important to her. She grabbed her coat and bag, and then headed out the door. When she arrived, she convinced herself that nothing would get her feeling sad, she would stay strong, and not let anyone say anything get her fuming. She walked through the doors, looking over at tables to spot her team. Her eyes widened as she spotted Scotty. Next to him sat a Blonde curly headed woman, her back to Lilly. Lilly stood there, hoping it wasn’t who she thought it was. But indeed it was, she turned around, her eyes catching with Lilly’s. Lilly couldn’t believe that Scotty had brought Chris with him to First Thursdays. Lilly took a deep breath and walked towards the table. She sat down at the table, smiling as Nick passed her a glass of water. Everyone was there, but the table was quiet. “Hey Lil.” Chris mumbled over at Lilly, receiving very intense gazes from the team, also receiving a glare from Lilly. Chris put her head down, grabbing Scotty’s hand from under the table. The night went on the same, Lilly not talking Chris nor Scotty. She did however talk to the rest of team, but ignored anything else. The night was soon to end, Chris and Scotty having a conversation that was barely above a whisper while Nick and John played darts, leaving Lilly alone with Will. Will was talking to Stillman and Vera while the engaged in their game, leaving Lilly to look around the room, saddened when she saw so many couple cuddling and kissing. “Hi there.” Lilly looked up to see a dark handsome man staring down at her. “Hi.” “What’s your name gorgeous?” “Lilly...detective Lilly Rush,” she was almost certain when she said ‘detective’ he would walk away, but he didn’t, he just stood there smiling down at her. “That’s a very pretty name, do you mind if I have a seat.” Lilly nodded her head swiftly, moving across to let him sit down next to her. “I’m Jared.” “Nice to meet you.” Lilly felt herself feeling embarrassed as Scotty stared over at Jared. “You too. I was just, sitting with some friends, and we were talking about you, how you’re gorgeous, and very attractive. And so, I thought I’d come over and introduce myself, hoping that I wouldn’t be rejected by you.” Lilly was unable to hid a smile as she looked around the tables, spotting the one he must have been referring to because a bunch man sat there gazing and winking at Lilly. “Wow, you have some very interesting looking men.” “You say...so are you single?” “You could say that.” Lilly looked over at Scotty quickly, his meeting with hers, and she was sure she saw a hint of jealousy in his eyes. “That means?” “Yes, but not really ready to start dating again.” “Oh...” Jared pulled out a card from his jacket, sliding it over to her, and then placing his hand over hers. “Well, here’s my card, if you’re ready to get back into the circle, give me call.” “Will do.” Lilly smiled cheerfully as Jared walked away, her smile making Scotty’s blood boil. “You have a few fans tonight.” Will whispered over to her, smiling over at Nick and Stillman as they looked over confusingly. *************************************************************************************

Channelkid sorry, by what you said I got the idea you thought this was a Scotty/Christina ship.
** The night came to an end quickly, Lilly leaving before anyone else, hoping she could get a good sleep. It was also the same as the previous nights that night, Lilly tossing and turning, her blankets falling to the floor as she broke out into sweat. She was awake from 3 am, till it was time for work. Lilly of course did her best to hide her drowsiness, 4 coffees before she even arrived at work. The whole week went on slowly for both Lilly and Scotty, the two not talking, just like the week before. Lilly thought on giving Jared a call, but something stopped her. She hated that she was almost admitting she was falling in love with Scotty. But she couldn’t be! He was her partner, and he was with her sister. She could never recover from something like that. Never! Lilly shook her head, standing up and heading for the fridge. Scotty used to make her feel special, now he made her feel like she was worth nothing. But she still wanted him. Was that normal? Lilly didn’t know, she didn’t want to care, but she did. She cared about how he was with Chris, how he didn’t know how much it hurt her to see Patrick with her sister, how he looked jealous when Jared flirted with her. She cared about everything. “He’s not even that good looking,” she told herself as she pulled out pieces of ham. She dropped them onto the floor, her cats heading straight to the meat. “And he’ll only use me.” She sighed as she leant against her counter thinking of Scotty. His chocolate brown eyes that she could drown in, his muscular shoulders, everything about him got her flushed. “Just stop it, STOP IT!” Lilly found herself talking to herself for the 8th time that week. She was like her own shrink, telling herself what’s right, but desperately wanting to do the opposite. She grabbed her coffee mug, throwing it at the cupboard opposite her. The cats meowed loudly as they scooted off, Lilly sliding down to the floor as she felt herself weaken. Tears filled her eyes as memories of Patrick flooded her mind. Lilly lay back on her bed as she felt her body tremble. Wanting Scotty was one thing, needing him was another. ** The next day at work, Lilly came in tired and grumpy. As soon as she saw Scotty, she knew today would not be a good day. As he looked up her, she glared down at him. “Can I talk to you?” She whispered, hoping he would say yes. “Yeah, why not?” Scotty followed Lilly as she walked to the interrogation room. He glided along the floor, almost positive Lilly was about to rip his head off. Lilly let him inside, and then slammed the door behind him. She leant against it, her arms falling to her side. “Whatever you wanna say Lil, just get it over and done with.” Scotty could barley wait, he wanted it to be over already. Lilly took in a deep breath. She didn’t know how to start, or how to finish. Before she could let anything slip out of her mouth, Scotty stepped forward, capturing her hand in his. “Lil-“ Lilly found herself falling apart as her hands found his neck. Their lips met while Scotty stood still, shocked at the sudden contact. Soon enough he found his consciousness, pushing her back against the door as his hands moved to her hips. A hint of hesitation from Lilly’s body urged Scotty to push thing further. His hands slid down her thighs, clutching onto them as he lifted her up. Struggling over to the table, he laid her down on the cold surface, slowly climbing on top of her. “Scotty...” Lilly knew it was, Scotty knew the same, yet nothing stopped the two from finishing what they were starting. Scotty hands found his way to her shirt, her coat already on the floor. “Stop,” she whispered, fearing someone may walk in on them any minute. “Can’t.” The two stopped as soon as they heard a knock on the door. “Everything okay in here?” Lilly knew Will would suspect something if they stayed in there too long. “Yeah, we’re fine.” “Boss needs us in his office.” “Okay.” Scotty did up the buttons on his shirt, watching as Lilly slipped on her coat. “Can we talk about this?” Scotty couldn’t help but ask, not knowing where this relationship was going. “No!” Lilly left the interrogation room, leaving him alone, the only thing he could hear was his thoughts. He was dating Chris, to him she was just a comforter, but he knew that Chris thought it was something more. If Scotty was being truly honest to himself, he was starting to believe she was becoming more of a girlfriend then comforter, but he couldn’t ignore the feelings he had for Lilly. Especially with their heated moment seconds ago, Scotty felt himself growing more confused. Having two sisters wanting to be with would be hard enough, but having Chris wanting him, and not knowing if Lilly wanted would be harder. Was it just a wave of jealousy? Was it to get back at Chris? Scotty didn’t know, all he knew was that he needed to sort things out with Lilly before everything got ugly. *************************************************************************************

Won't be updating fast, been really busy lately, but I'll try my best ** The meeting in Stillman’s office was about a court case coming up. It was to do with a previous case they worked on weeks ago, but Stillman thought that everyone should know. Scotty didn’t pay attention, focused on Lilly. She stood near the door, her hands folded below her chest, her eyes staring deeply at the floor. She looked confused, making Scotty want to go over and hug her tight. “That’s it, back to work.” Lilly scooted out of the office, almost running to her desk. Scotty followed quickly behind, hoping to talk with her. “Can we talk?” “No!” “You want me to pretend it didn’t happen or somethin’, ‘cause I can’t do that Lil.” “Scotty! It wasn’t supposed to happen, it was a heat of the moment thing, forget about it,” she slammed her bag down on her desk, shuffling through her items while Scotty stared at her hurt. “You really wanna pretend it didn’t happen?” “Yes.” Scotty’s hands started to clench as Lilly’s breaths increased. “Fine then, I guess I’ll go home to Chris tonight and do her instead.” Lilly’s head snapped towards him, her eyes widening at his cocky smirk. “Don’t even think you have a chance of doing me.” “Oh I do...if no one had interrupted us I would have done you in the interrogation room.” Lilly wheeled her chair closer to him, now only inches from his body. “You’ll never have me. Go home to my sister, you can have her, you two are perfect for each other, both sluts!” “Your sister ain’t a slut.” Scotty felt himself defending Christina, but only wanting to have Lilly on his side. “We all know she is. So if you know what’s good for you, you’ll forget what happened.” Scotty’s eyes dropped to her trembling hands, watching as she started to shake. “And what if I don’t?” “You can’t have both of us...” “I only want one.” Lilly’s breathed in deep, biting her lips as she breathed out. “You’ve already chosen her.” She slowly stood up, grabbing her bag and heading for the door. ** Later that night, Lilly was tempted to rush over to Scotty’s place to sort things out, but a voice in her head forced her not to. Kissing Scotty was a mistake she wished she could forget. She had wanted to do it for a long time now, but he was with her sister. He had betrayed her, and yet she still wanted him. Lilly had never been more confused in her life. She forced herself to pick up the phone, dialling Scotty’s number. After a few rings, he picked up. “Valens...” Lilly tried to speak, but somehow, the words didn’t come out. She sat there on her couch not able to compose herself. “Hello?” A few seconds later and he hung up. The phone stayed at Lilly’s ear, her heart pounding inside her. “Crap,” she whispered as she dropped the phone into her lap. She wasn’t supposed to be feeling like this. He wasn’t anything to her but her partner. And yet, something inside her cherished the kisses they shared earlier. However, Lilly was more worried about what would happen from this day forward. Would Scotty fight for her? Would he want to be with her? Or would he go back to Chris and let her use him? Lilly was starting to feel fed up with her thoughts, unable to go a minute without thinking of Scotty. She jumped up, grabbing her coat and she run to her bedroom. She went through her closer, smiling when she found her crowbar. She ran back downstairs, grabbing her keys then heading out the door. Soon she arrived at Scotty’s house, wondering if he had an alarm system on his car. Lilly wanted this over and done with quick, after getting out of her car, she ran over to Scotty’s car, looking inside the windows for a few seconds. A brief hesitation faded away as she swung the crowbar at his passenger window. No alarm went off. She smiled happily, swinging it again. She finally stopped 15 minutes later, stepping back to have a look at the car. Every window was smashed, dints in every place seen. Lilly was surprised no one had came outside to the he4ar the noise she made. Strolling over to her car, she laughed knowing this would indeed piss him off. But part of her knew what she did was wrong, regretting is straight away.

Lilly arrived at work the next morning smirking while gliding through the department. Scotty sat as his desk, his face scrunched up. “Morning,” her casual greeting received a glare from Scotty. “You think it’s funny to do that?” “Do what?” “Ruin my car...” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” As Lilly slid out of her coat, she smiled to herself knowing he was mad. “I don’t appreciate not having a ride for work,” he stood up, grabbing her arm and spinning her towards him. “Don’t touch me!” “Don’t touch my car!” “I didn’t.” Scotty let grip on her arm die down, stepping backwards as he observed her. Her Blonde hair spread across her shoulders, her red lipstick replaced with a light pink, and her eyes sparkling a shiny blue. She indeed was showing off her gorgeous face. “What?” she asked, feeling quite nervous. “You look...different.” “...and?” “It, suites you, ya know.” A brief pinch of relief slipped over Lilly as a small smile spread on her lips. “Yeah well, I didn’t touch your car.” “I know you did.” “You have no proof.” Scotty’s glares darkened as he looked over at her bag. “Why do you have to a complete b*tch? Can’t you just get over it?” Could she? Would it be that easy to just forget him? “Can’t you just get over her?” “Why? Does it matter? Or do you want me?” “You’re so full of yourself. Just do what you want, but don’t involve me.” Lilly stormed off, Scotty not bothering to follow her. He sat down at his desk, thinking of the situation he had put himself in. ** Later that night, Scotty decided to set things straight. He told Chris he needed to go down to a crime scene, but was in fact going to see Lilly. He banged on her door loudly, needing to see her. She opened the door slowly, her sleepy eyes staring into his. The cute boxer shorts she wore made him smile while his eyes travelled up and down her body. A small tank top and her hair messy made her complete. “Can we talk?” “No. I was sleeping.” “Really? This time?” “Yeah.” It has been weeks since Lilly had found a good night’s sleep, and when she returned home from work, she instantly fell asleep while watching TV. “Look Lil, I don’t know what’s going on between us.” Lilly swung open the door and turned around. Scotty stepped forward, looking around her house as he shut the door behind him. “I know I’ve ruined everything we had, but I never wanted too. I just needed someone who could help me get past what I’m going through.” Lilly stared at the floor while he talked. “Why her?” “I don’t know, I really don’t. But she came at the right time when I needed her. And thing’s just...got better for me.” “Why couldn’t you have someone else?” Lilly would have asked why not her, but she knew it would raise suspicions. “No one else would let me, pretend, that everything would be okay, she helped me with that.” Lilly nodded silently, looking for a way out of the conversation, knowing it would lead somewhere she’d rather not bring it to. “So...can we try to work this out?” Scotty gave her his most caring look, hoping she would want to try with him. “I don’t know,” she ran her hand through her hair furiously. “Is there something else, you’d like to talk about, or let me know?” “No.” Scotty stepped closer to her, reaching out for her hand as he neared her. She stared at his hand, gasping when he snatched her hand. “I think we need to talk about what we’re feeling.” “No we don’t.” Lilly pulled away, stepping back but colliding with the wall. Scotty’s hands found her shoulders, Lilly afraid of what would happen next. She squinted her eyes, hoping this was just a dream. That idea was pushed away when she felt his firm lips on hers. At first she didn’t react, taking time to savour the moment. However, a few seconds later, she raised her hands to his neck, inviting him in. One of Scotty’s hands ran through her hair while the other travelled down her side. He found the hem of her tank top, pulling on it while their kiss deepened. Soon enough, her lifted the tank top over her head, smiling at her lacy white bra. “Scotty we can’t,” she whispered, her eyes closed and her hands on his chest. Scotty ignored her, recovering her lips as he slid out of his shirt. Lilly decided at that moment she would give in. It was clear her hormones were taking over, but part of her couldn’t wait to take him to bed. She jumped into his arms, Scotty travelling up the stairs to her bedroom while they continued to kiss.

Short, I know, Im having troubles with writing anything at the moment.
** When Lilly awoke the next morning, Scotty was gone. Half of her was glad, but the other half wanted to roll over into his arms. She sat up slowly looking around the room. What about Chris? She shouldn’t be doing this to her, no matter what went on in the past. She sighed, rubbing her forehead slowly as she gathered her scattered clothes. When she was ready for work, her usual dark shirt was replaced with a light pink and white striped shirt. Her hair was down again, this time slightly curled at the end. Walking into work was hard, the likely sight of Scotty probably pushing her over the edge. When she walked to her desk, Scotty’s desk was empty. None of his things were in sight, neither was his coat. She breathed out happily, sitting down in her chair while she took off her coat. ** Scotty didn’t arrive to late that day, looking quite stressed. Lilly was out with Nick talking to a suspect while Scotty apologised to Stillman for being late. “I slept in, power went off last night, forgot to re-set my alarm.” “That’s fine, as long as you don’t make a habit of it.” Stillman knew he was lying through his teeth, however he was positive what was going on would not be something he would want to know. “I won’t.” As Scotty left Stillman’s office, he spotted Lilly as she walked with Nick. Her smile lit up the room, her eyes shining as she left out a small laugh. Scotty couldn’t help but smile to himself, but this disappeared as her eyes connected with his. Her eyes darkened as she moved over to her desk. Something about the look in her eyes told him that she was hurt. He walked over to his desk, eyeing her as Nick went through the possible motives for each suspect. “Could be, hey Lil, you wanna go for a walk?” Scotty interrupted Nick, his eyes still stuck on Lilly. “Uh, okay.” Lilly followed Scotty to the elevator, taking her time to make sure she was composed. As the doors slid shut, Scotty looked over at Lilly. “We need to talk about what happened.” Lilly didn’t return his stare, her eyes concentrating on the doors. “I think we can get past it.” “Nah Lil, it ain’t like that.” Before Lilly could answer, the doors slid open. Lilly made the first move, heading straight for the outside world. This time Scotty followed behind, watching her feet as she pushed past the people on the street. She finally stopped down a side street, no cars to be seen, no people to seen, and no way for anyone to hear what their conversation was about. “Listen Scotty-“ “No! You listen. You’re not going to tell me to forget it. I went home, and I sat down with Chris, and yeah, we had a talk.” Scotty interrupted her, hoping he could get everything out before she rejected him. Lilly’s heart stopped as she thought of the possible things the two could have talked about. “I didn’t tell her we slept together. But...I did tell her that I had feelings for you...yeah, and after a long talk, we decided that it would best if we broke up.” Lilly nodded her head slightly, trying to capture everything in her head. “So?” “Well, she’s gonna move out, and go somewhere.” “Is she staying in Philly?” “Dunno. But uh, I did that for you. ‘Cause us last night, it made me realise just how much you mean to me.” Lilly felt both angry and privileged at Scotty’s feeling for her. “I don’t know Scotty, it’s too complicated.” Before Lilly could say another word, she felt herself being backed up against the cold stone and her lips being invaded by Scotty’s. Without thinking, she reacted, pulling him closer. The kiss started to get more passionate, but this is when Lilly’s senses awakened. She pushed him backwards, wiping her lips as she stumbled backwards. “We’re not doing this okay!” “Lil,” he whispered, trying to grab a hold of her hand. “Just stop it Scotty, you’re making it so goddamn hard, just stop.” Scotty was sure he saw a hint of tears in her eyes, and when her hands moved to her eyes, this was confirmed. She started to walk off, her hair blowing in the wind as she picked up her space. “Just think about us Lil.” Scotty yelled out as she turned the corner.

**
Scotty returned home that night, to notice many things missing. Christina’s things were gone, but so were a few of his things. He shook his head as he slid down onto the couch. She had left a note. Scotty picked it up, slowly reading it. Scotty, I don’t know what you see in Lilly. She’s no better than me. Have fun, Chris. He dropped it to the floor really hoping that Lilly was worth this. Before he could lie down on the couch, his cell rang. He quickly flipped open his cell, smiling as he read Lilly’s number. “Valens.” “Hey...” “Lil?” “Yeah...um, I was wondering if you wanted to have a drink.” “Sure.” “Okay, meet me at my house.” “Now?” “Yeah.” “Alright, see you in a few.” When Scotty arrived at Lilly’s place, she was sitting on her front steps with a pack of beers. He smiled to her as he got out of the car. She handed him a beer as he sat down next to her. “It’s cold out here,” he whispered, shivering in his coat. “Mmm.” “You think it’s a better idea if we go inside?” Something in Lilly’s eyes told him that she was about to burst out into tears. “I don’t want to lose you Scotty.” The statement took Scotty by surprise, his mind racing. “I don’t wanna lose you either.” “By the way were going, we’re never gonna be the same.” “Lil listen, I can’t help how I feel about you, it may ruin things, but I’m gonna fight for you.” “Scotty...” “Lil?” Her eyes filled with tears as she rubbed her hands down her legs. “I don’t know what to do anymore.” “Talk to me, we’ll figure it out.” Her head leaned on his shoulders as he rubbed her back. “I wanna be with you...I do Scotty, but it’s too hard, and it causes way too many problems.” “How do you know that if we haven’t even tried it out?” “I just know.” Scotty smiled as his hands slipped to her sides. “And you are always right huh?” “Mmhmm.” Scotty shook his head as he lifted her up. “Let’s go inside and talk.” “No!” Lilly pulled his hand, stopping him and pulling him down the stairs. “What?” “We can’t go inside.” “Why not?’ “’Cause...I don’t know what will happen when we go inside.” “I won’t try anything on you, I promise.” Lilly hesitated for a moment, but followed him in, hoping she would control herself. As they sat down on the couch, Lilly grabbed a hold of his hand. “I need to tell you something.” “Ok, what’s up?” “You need to promise me you won’t get mad at me.” “I promise.” Her hands entangled in his as her eyes stared at the couch. “I’m pregnant.” Scotty thought he must have misheard her words, but the way she stared at him proved to him that she was being honest. A baby? His partner was having his baby. “Baby?’ “Yeah...” “Whoa, I didn’t think that um, that could happen.” “Well I was expecting it either.” Lilly felt the need to protect herself, her heart racing as Scotty looked confusedly at her. “You don’t need to worry; I’m going to give it up.” “What?” “I don’t want to move things too fast with how they already are, I really don’t know what I’m feeling, and I’m going to put the baby up for adoption when it’s born.” “No Lil, you can’t do that.” “Scotty, please, don’t try and change my mind, I considered abortion, but I can’t do that, so I’m gonna give it up.” Scotty’s fists tightened causing him to bite his lip. “You’re not giving it up.” “I’m doing what I want!” “It’s my baby too, and I’m not letting you give it up.” “Get out!” Lilly screamed, her cheeks darkening to a bright red. “Lil-“ “I said get the hell out.” Scotty stood up slowly, heading for the door. “And don’t you dare tell anyone the baby is yours.” As he left her house, Scotty regretted telling her what she was going to do, knowing that she was in a difficult position and not in a stable state. ** A while after Scotty left, Lilly found herself searching for something to eat. She had never been so hungry in her life which made her feel uncomfortable. While she browsed through the pantry, she thought of Scotty’s reaction. He obviously wanted her to keep the baby, but she couldn’t. The baby was a mistake, and she couldn’t let anyone know she slept with Scotty. Her plan was set, she had gotten drunk and slept with someone who she had no recognition off, and the team would hopefully not be suspicious of her story, and she would give it up when it was born. That was what she had come up with so far, but it was not certain. Part of her wanted to be a mother, the other half didn’t want to make a mistake like her own mother did. Lilly sighed loudly, her hands flinging food packages onto the floor. “I hate you,” she screamed out loudly. She didn’t know who it was directed at, but she felt like her life was coming to an end. *************************************************************************************
