"Whoring it up with a cocktail waitress won't bring back your dead girlfriend"
Hands down, the cruelest words ever said by one of our detectives. I ranted about this in Time to Crime, but Lilly, how dare you. Scotty's grieving, and you tell him that? That's borderline workplace harassment. I so wish Stillman or someone had said "Lil, know you're upset, but that is not okay"
I know she apologised a bit in The Woods, but too little too late. It's also out of character for Lilly, who can be incredibly sympathetic to killers and a whole range of witnesses.
This is an incredibly depressing episode. It's probably in the top five "Cold Case episodes to make you bawl like a baby" episodes.
Poor Colin. I say that a lot, but oh, Colin. You poor guy. You were good and sweet, yet so naive. Once again, Cold Case shows how harsh the world has been and can be to anyone who is different or poor.
His dad was an absolute ass.
At least Leah finally confessed and Colin's name was able to be cleared. Too late, but I was glad to see that Leah was still remorseful. (Usually fake rape accusations on tv bugs me, because they rarely happen in real life, and victims suffer enough already. But this episode made it believable)
I don't think the one who's name we shall not say wanted Colin to die. I think Nathan, young and burnt out and in way out of his head, thought she did. I felt for Nathan. He really cared for Colin and wanted the best for him, but he was too young and didn't have the help he needed. Being killed by a train seemed incredibly violent, but thinking about it a) It was instant and Colin probably didn't feel anything and b) It could be easily passed off as an accident. That ending scene, with Nathan watching and crying while the train thundered on? Chilling.
Beautiful ending song. So glad to see Colin and Mr Wilson together in the end.
