Am I really thaaat different? I loved this episode! Loved the claustrophobic atmosphere and the fact that the doer must have been one of the family members. I do not find the action slow, honestly, this is one of my faves ever, not only S4. Vera's got a girlfriend! Vera's got a girlfriend! 4 eps back I wouldn't think he could make a relationship with anyone and now? Woo-hoo, keep my fingers crossed for them, they look cute together. But still, Vera reminds me of my PO teacher who is slimy... I would never touch any of them, haha. muahaha! and I don't like this ep ;D so... yeah, you're different!

This episode screened here last night. Having watched "Knots Landing" all those years ago, this reminded me of an episode from that show, especially with Donna Mills guest starring. I'm a big fan of Perry King & of Donna Mills, but I have to say this episode didn't really feel like a "Cold Case" episode. I did love the side story with Nick & his neighbour. I'm so glad he's in love!!! He's so cute!!!! ;D ;D

this episode aired about 2 weeks ago ro something (yes I'm delayed) and I didn't hate it but didn't like it. The case wasn't bad but didn't interest me what so ever. Then when the whole pedophile grandma thing came up, it was just too gross. It makes me sick even thinking about it. argh

I missed this ep the first time around. It was good kinda a who done it ep. I suspected the daughter but it was interesting to see how they went about each person. Was totally surprised the grandma sexually molested her son. Although there seems to be much similarity between molestation - I'm thinking its still more traumatic whem females are the victim for obvious physical reasons. I, too, was caught by the mirror shot of Lilly. Does anyone recall the dialog being spoken? I don't think there was any the daughter was signing papers after the confession. So what does it mean? I've managed to upload the mirror scene, maybe there is some symbolism there about Lilly??

There wasn't any dialogue when Lilly was looking into the mirror, but the daughter was indeed signing papers.

Sorry to post twice, but I found the lyrics to the ending song, when it starts off with Lilly looking in the mirror . I've highlighted the some of the lyrics that could possibly explain why she is looking in the mirror.
And even though the moment passed me by I still can't turn away I saw the dreams you never thought you'd lose tossed along the way Letters that you never meant to send lost or thrown away
And now we're grown up orphans that never Knew their names Don't belong to no one that's a shame You could hide beside me maybe for a while And I won't tell no one your name I won't tell em' your name
Scars are souvenirs you never lose , the past is never far Did you lose yourself somewhere out there , did you get to be a star Don't it make you sad to know that life is more that who we are
You grew up way too fast and now there's Nothing to believe And reruns all become our history A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio And I won't tell no one your name I won't tell em' your name
I think about you all the time But I don't need the same It's lonely where you are come back down And I won't tell em your name

More about Lilly and the Mirror Any symbolic thoughts on this, I've noticed that Lilly looks into the mirror a lot during the interrogations. OMG I totally noticed that last night! I haven't really thought that hard about it before, but last night watching this ep again and her looking "through" the mirror again, it just hit me! I wonder if it's supposed to mean anything...? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyways I still really like the parts with Vera and Andre, esp at the end when Toni joined in I also LOVE it when Lilly turns the light off on the ghost of Lauren; it's awesome to watch Lilly have that "power effect" she has in her attitude

Let's face it the rooms are pretty dull, the mirror is the most interesting thing in it (except Lilly). Given the chance of looking at a bare wall and a ba... and Lilly, I know where I'd be looking Of course the cops know exactly what, and perhaps who, is behind the glass so some of what they say is sort of directed there, rather than at the "perp". It's a bit of a performance to an unseen audience.

After watching the episode (again ;D) I was thinking about these things and read what was posted here... The mirror thing is perhaps that Lilly is torn between her duty and what is right. She has to arrest Ginny for the murder of her mother, but the mother really was a nasty person, so Ginny didn't really deserve to go to jail. I still don't get it why does Lilly actually see Lauren, because Lilly actually didn't do much to defend Lauren. But as Lilly sees Lauren, Lauren is looking down in the water, I think that it's her remorsing what she had done while alive. Still as Lilly switches of the light, Lauren disappears, but Lauren was afraid of the dark, probably this is the reason she disappears. But the reflection is still there...

But the reflection is still there... pixie, to see the "victim" in the end is one of the most complicated things of Cold Case... In this case an unlikeable victim... In previous seasons It was Lilly who usually always saw the victim... And this was similar to the case in "The Plan" just than until now I saw that in "The Plan" no one actually saw the victim, He was seen(by the public) in a reflection, Lilly never saw him... I think this happened with this type of people who deserved to die

Didn't care for this episode at all. I think the Vera/Toni storyline did save the episode cause that was the best part and the beginning where Lilly and Scotty were at the pool.

This is one of my favourite episodes. I felt so sorry for Ginny (the doer)- her mother was threatening to take her son away and abuse him! No wonder Ginny snapped. I'm guessing she probably would have got a relatively short sentence.
Poor Tad. His mother's abuse seemed to really mess him up- the fact he was still blaming himself for being abused at 13 is pretty sad.
I know Stanford was a jerk but he seemed like a somewhat decent parent. I would have liked to see his reaction to what had really happened that night.
Lauren Williams was one of the most evil victims they had. She was manipulative, cruel, emotionally abusive to Ginny, abused her son, and tried to abuse her grandson.
I like that they had episodes where you ended up feeling a lot more sympathy for the doer than the victim.
In terms of symbolism- it's interesting that both Lauren and Nash Cavanagh were drowned- they were both pedophiles who destroyed lives. The only other drowning victim was that kid in Ravaged who was the victim of a pedophile.

Playing around on YouTube awhile back, I came across the ending for this case. In the comments someone noted that Cold Case had a lot of messed up moms during its run. I don't think I realized it before, but I came to realize the truth of this statement later:
Drunk mom: Churchgoing People Hysterically blind mom: Into the Woods Bipolar mom: Committed Pedophile mom: Blackout Skinhead mom: Spiders Lilly's mom and now thanks to me you can add Junkie withdrawal mom: KEEN-say in fan fiction.
This episode was another example of how Cold Case could challenge someone's preconceived notions. How many of us thought it would be the father who was the abuser at first? Another episode that will always top my list.
With this, I have reached 500.

As to the victim in this case, she was certainly one of the more evil ones they had on the show and I completely understand why Ginny did what she did. In a way I hated seeing her get arrested(you know the squad felt the same way) but it had to be done. You can't kill someone who at the time of said killing wasn't posing any threat to you. I'd certainly be in favor of giving Ginny a reduced sentence but a complete walk can't happen, something Lily knew as well.
