hey all, finally got around to watching this episode and thought it was amazing and sad and wonderfully done. I was a bit surprised by the initial visuals, but as scary as they were to see, I feel like this episode really pushed the limits.. in a great way. I feel like this episode was really similar to the early seasons... such a powerful episode.

I've done watched this for the 3rd time for tonight and it still kills me when Lilly says, "it's the worst thing...dying alone..." (or whatever the correct dialog is), and I just want to reach in the TV and give her a hug! It's so sad that she feels like she's so alone and has no one to talk to. I hope she starts to come out soon, about how she feels and all, especially if she started talking to Scotty!

yes yes, and I cannot STOP talking about it!! ;D Oh yeah and to add another thing I LOOOOOOVE the ending song! It fits with the ep so perfectly! Well they always do, but I super noticed this one. Especially noticed that it not only went with the case, but with what Lilly is going through as well.

Aha! I figured it out! I'm sure someone else has already posted that they knew this, but last Monday when we had the chat about this ep, no one could understand what the grandmother was talking about when she said that her grandson called her "ma-too", but it's now all clear to me after she told the story about his real mom leaving! If anyone else doesn't know yet, it's not like "ma-TOO", it's "ma-2", as in like she said, she didn't want to take that away from her daughter, (her being the boy's mom and all), so he called her "ma- 2", b/c she was like his 2nd mom! So much easier to understand now that I caught on! ;D

Lol. I always have the subtitles on my tv on . haha, yeah I do that sometimes when I truly can't figure something out. But that's usually when I can't understand what certain word they are saying. In this case, yeah it may have helped, but of course I didn't think of putting them on! ;D

This was an amazingly moving episode for me. It threw me for a shock, and it was one of the episodes that made me feel bad for the killer as well as the victims.

OMG... I LOVED this!! It was demented, deranged, gut-wrenching awful but I loved it. The change of pace was great, a much better thriller ep than they did last year. I was glued to the edge of my seat the whole time. The victims were so loveable. And the doer... poor him. I hated his guts throughout the whole episode, but in the end... cleverly done, flashing back to poor little innocent Malik, how could you NOT sympathize? It doesn't excuse his behavior of course... but he was so messed up... and there was something freakishly Michael Jackson about him (I dunno if the rest of you noticed--haven't read the other entries yet).
This case just touched my heart.
Earlier this year we had a bad fire at a children's center... all seventeen kids but one died. There were no fire escapes, no way to lead them to safety. According to the one surviving witness, soon as the fire broke out, the counselors in charge just jumped out the window and fled. By the time the firemen got there, it was too late.
I mean--sure it was a juvie detention center--and sure one of the kids had started the fire himself horsing around--but that still doesn't mean they can just let them die.
Just gotta start protecting the kids, people. ALL kids.
EDIT: I've read all of your posts. I need to add... - The ep didn't remind me of George one bit, though maybe it should have. There were distinct similarities, but, dunno... it just FELT different. - I agree--excellent acting in this ep. I can't commend it enough. Everyone was top form. And some scenes (like the Lilly maternal scene at the end) were unexpected (it actually had me going "whut???") but convincing. - I'm with LillyKat (think that's who it was) in thinking Lil was a bit mental when she started going on and on about dying alone. I admit I rolled my eyes a bit. It was like--Rush, this isn't the time to pour your guts out!

Wow, just saw this one and I think it's hands down the best of the season, maybe one of the best of the series.

An episode that it did make my hair stand up... Hard (On the version aired here they had cut the scenes with the bodies and the close-ups at the beginning... And the show is always signaled for 15+ viewers...) and stressfull... That means really one of the best!!
However, this thing with the Thesseus had problems, in fact they had made it too general. According to greek mythology, ancient Athens was beaten by the king Minoan and they had to send 7 girls and 7 boys to Crete for Minotaur to eat them, every year. Thesseus was sent to kill Minotaur and put a stop to all this. He did it with the help of Ariadne. The story says, also, that Thesseus was told by his father, Aegeus, to put white sails, instead of the black ones, on the way back, if they came winners. But they forgot to do it. Aegeus saw the black sails on the ship and thinking that his son was dead fell from the rock to kill himself. That's how the Aegean Sea was named.
This dying alone thing, now... Just correct me but: When Lil called to Ed to shoot it wasn't for Ed but for Scotty to know that the area was clear. She was scared to death but I don't think that she had the time to philosophe about "dying alone" (Yes, in George's case she had the time...). After that she wasn't alone. Just remember... If she had died, it would be either in Scotty hands or while Jeffries held her hand. OK in the operating room or in the ambulance everyone in this condition would be alone! But six people were caring for her, one just out of the operating room... Maybe that's why Scotty seemed confused when he heard her comment. He wasn't unnerved but maybe he tried to get what was going on. Maybe a comment from him would have been useful but the others cut them off and we left one more time with thoughts... Anyway, Lil's problem wasn't the "dying alone" was the "living alone" and finally that what she got to see in the Road: "Once hope is gone dying is just a formality". It doesn't matter dying alone, if you have left yourself to live alone without effort or hope to change.

It also was so that Scotty could shoot Ed, but Ed got her first. Scotty was once again probably not as caring, due to the fact IAD and ADA Thomas. He really doesn't seem to care unless she's being hurt or harmed. I do agree that Lilly understood what her dreams were telling her with both from her social worker, and John Smith in " The Road". I don't think it was about dying alone or being alone, I think Lilly was also grieve over the loss of her mother and the combination of her bad childhood. Lilly can't show emotions too well..

You are right about the mother. Maybe she referred to her mother, too... In fact her loss left her without anyone close enough... For Scotty, I wouldn't be surprised either if he finally cared to death or if he was completely careless. Nothing it's clear about him in general... I don't know where the writers try to get to.

This was one of the best episodes. Loved Vera's hair cut though and like everyone said, I liked the detectives' reactions to finding the bodies.
I wasn't sure if the killer was a kid but it sure sounded like one though.
