Well. There is a poll for favorite finale and I decided to open a new one for favorite premiere... I have never been a fan of premieres/finales... but I am going to describe what I think of every premiere
Look Again: It was the first episode... And I Loved it. I loved when the characters were flashbacked... and so on. But now as an episode... I Consider it a good only... We knew who the killer was
The Badlands: The worse premiere IMHO but Ok as an episode. Case was extremely recent. the good things were the discussion between Vera and Jeffries.
Family: It was flat. I considered it OK but this episode had one of the most likable victims of all the time(I Cant remember his name). He was a very good person and I liked the way he said he was gonna take care of his 2 girls... That was the only thing I liked about this episode...
Rampage: The wonderful season 4 began with an excellent episode. Formula was a little bit changed. Stillman agressive with a witness. This has been one of the very few episodes centered around the murderers than the victims....Excellent
Thrill Kill: Rampage and this one based on real life cases. this one was an excellent episode for me. The best scene was when Lilly confronted the guy in prison and he said he had killed the boys but we knew he wasnt, all he was was desperate. He lost so much of his life and his buddy lost his life...And It's sad to think this happens in real life. We had Lilly issues too and everything... Excellent episode.
Glory Days: I consider this one a Good. We have had 2 seasons premiere full of emotion. This one was a very good case and what I liked was that I just did not guess who the doer was until the very end...Good music...
so my vote for best premiere is for: Rampage Thrill Kill was almost there but Rampage had better character developement
I hope you can vote and If you can, explain, your vote. Note that what I've written is my opinion, so this is a forum and several people have diff ideas from me, so let's mix our ideas =]

To be honest and knowing I'm in the minority, I love Badlands. But Look Again is my personal second place.

I voted for Rampage, but it was an hard choice with Thrill Kill... I loved this episode: the montage, the musics, the characters and, first of all, the theme.

I liked Glory Days a lot. I thought it was a great open to this current season and I liked the fact that while the victim was your stereotypical jock, in a lot of ways he bucked that stereotype. Look at the paper on Beowolf he got a B+ on by himself, without the aid of the person writing his papers for him. That, and he had a sense of duty not just to his friends but to the sport he played. He lobbied to get his friend reinstated on the team and went to quit playing altogether when they wouldn't. He was also against the steroids the players were being injected with, unbeknownst to them.
All in all, it was a really great episode.

Yes, Rampage was a wonderful way to start the season 4. There was an excellent Character developement... But Thrill Kill was excellent too I liked Glory Days a lot. All in all, it was a really great episode. Glory Days had a so likeable victim... Rampage focused on the murderers and Thrill Kill showed more of the suspects than the victim... so Glory Days showed us an excellent character developement for the victim. It had few characters and I did not guess the victim. Excellent episode too... After all... the 3 last premieres have been better than the first 3 premieres

My favorite is definitely look again. It was the first episode I saw and I can rewatch it anytime without getting ever bored! I know I might be quite alone in this...
Lilly had an energy and a commitment that I really enjoyed and that I miss now. The parking lot scene is one of my all time favorites. I don't mind that there was no twist and that we practically knew from the start who the doer was, on the contrary. The interesting thing was the reopening: how the case had more chance to be solved now and how Lilly approached the different persons to make them talk. And I just love the closing montage where Lilly has her moment and we witness how her vocation with the cold cases truly awakened. We never get to see why Scotty suddenly changed his mind about it (first episode he thinks it's a B assignment and the next one he's all in...) and why Vera and Jeffries finally became full time.
All the other season premieres feel like regular episodes to me (not that I don't like them, there is just nothing special to them). They never resolve what they build in the finales anyway...

Well zoe, you are right in that part I can remember in the beginning Lil was not really in about cold cases but later when she said that the victims have waited too much for justice...
They never resolve what they build in finales? how so?

They never resolve what they build in finales? how so? The finales of The Woods, Joseph and Stalker could have brought many changes but there was only a short reference in the following premiere and then everything goes back to normal. Aftermaths are swept under the rug...

They never produced a real cliffhanger. Even with season 4 it was sort of clear already, that Lilly was going to survive. Wouldn't say though, they never picked up something from the season before in the following season premiere. Yes, they didn't resolved anything, but there was not much to be resolved. Cases were closed and done. What I missed eventually, that what had happened with the detectives (mainly Lilly) sometimes didn't seem to have effects, but that's something I missed not just considering the premiere, or even less so with the premieres. CC is still a procedural, starting the season with too much background stuff might not work so well, repell new viewers even, when they get the feeling, oh, should have watched the season before to understand what's going on, no time for that, so why watch the show now - when they've seen a few more eps already, the might be more interested to track back the personal background of the main characters.
My favorite premiers are Look Again and Rampage.
Look Again very simply because it was at least as good as I'd expected, interesting set-up, single female detective, interesting case, flash-backs - enough to make me watch the next episodes and pretty soon fall in love with the show. Yes, I've been a viewer from the first episode on.
Rampage: it was well done, and I liked the story, unravel a case, that more or less was closed, though they had been wondering, if a third doer had been involved.
Badlands was a nice premiere, picking up a case from the very first episode, I liked that. Not enough though to make it a fave.
Of Family I mostly remember the haunting piano, had to look up, what the episode was about.
Thrill Kill and Glory Days are the season premieres I remember the least, good episodes maybe, but they didn't manage to catch much of my attention.

I have always liked cold case because they focus mainly the cases and not too much on personal lives... I hate when they cover only personal issues...

Today I was thinking about why I like "Badlands" that much.
And I came to this: I really like "Badlands" being a premiere because the Detectives have to reopen a case that's connected with their past. Some of them were trying to solve it a few years ago, but they didn't succeed.
And I think that's remarkable in the whole second season. The Detectives have to deal with very personal, "old" things they experienced or people of their past suddenly showing up again. Like Christina returning, a person of Lilly's past, Elissa writing Scotty a letter about the time they had together and even George making Lilly tell about the night she went to that store.
So there are many things in this season that the Detectives have to handle, things that happened in their personal past just like they have to solve the cruel murder case in "Badlands", because that's a piece of their past, too.
And that's why I love "Badlands" being the premiere of the second season.

It's a cross between Look Again and Glory Days (but then again I haven't seen Badlands or Rampage yet, so I guess I'm a little biased), although I'd probably choose Look Again for my overall favourite season opener.

It's extremely good btw, I dont know why Thrill Kill has not even got a single vote. Family was not bad but was not as exciting as others; The guy was such a nice person

Over Christmas they had season three on, too, but it seems they never show seasons four or five.

Yeah, we're not too far behind America, although I've missed a few and had to watch online, so I can't actually say which the last episode shown here was.
