It's just not a Kevin Smith movie without a Ben Affleck cameo, and the J. Lo's ex-man-accessory knows it. The square-headed hunk reportedly he insisted on making an appearance in Clerks II after Smith pointed out it would have been the first flick he made in 10 years without an Affleck walk-through.
"He said, 'OK, I want to be involved, but I don't want to do any dialogue," Smith told Entertainment Tonight. "I just want to be, like, a background person.' Then he was like, 'I feel like I should say something...' so I gave him a line."
In other Clerks II news, star Rosario Dawson tells MTV that if her work as Becky in the off-kilter comedy doesn't help booster her to Affleck status, she’s already got two more projects in the works.
The Sin City beauty is set to star in a collaboration between Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, called Grind House, which will see the mega-directors each control one half of the flick.
"I'm in Quentin's part," Dawson told MTV. "We're going to start shooting that in August and September with [actress] Tracie Thoms from Rent. It's a double feature, old-school '70s grind-house kind of film ... It's a gear-head thing."
After that, Dawson will be back in Rodriguez’s hands for Sin City 2, a prequel to last year’s smash film. And she’s excited to be squeezing back into her skimpy leather outfits to play Gail in the graphic-novel flick.
"I'm very lucky — or not lucky, I guess — because Frank [Miller] really liked drawing that outfit on Gail," she said of her barely there attire. "I'm gonna squeeze back in. I might as well do it now, because I won't be able to do it in a couple years."
Dawson also revealed the new Sin City installment will feature a little more meat in the plot department.
"The one they're doing this time is 'A Dame to Kill For,' and [Gail's] in that one," she said. "It carries a much stronger story arc, and it'll be at the beginning of [explaining] why I'm so mad at [Clive Owen's] character and slapping him in the face."
