Just found this on the TV Guide website: ON THE CASE: Tracie Thoms, who can be seen in the upcoming film version of Broadway's Rent, has been added as a series regular on CBS' Cold Case, where she has been recurring as Kat Miller. The former narcotics detective is going to be joining the homicide team in the Nov. 20 episode. Link: www.tvguide.com/News/Entertainment/

:smile6: :smile6: :smile6: :smile6: :smile6: :smile6: :smile6: I've seen this before and wasn't pretty... ANOTHER FEMALE DETECTIVE??? What's wrong with CBS? I cannot believe they've already forgotten about SJB... Nothing against Trace Thoms though. ;D

This really makes *things* seem extremely unorganized for the showing of Season Three. "Whatever". Talk about Vera screwing the pooch! ;D :smile21:

Oh, wait, that was the girl from The Woods, right???
Actually--she might work. For starters, she already has chemistry with the other characters (got along well investigating with Lilly and Scotty). Second of all, I know it shouldn't make a difference, but the fact she's african american is a plus IMO. Also, she seems more adult that Chippy, so there's no relationship risk regarding her (I hope). And she might be normal and baggage-less!
I agree it's dumb to shove another girl in our faces so soon after the Chippy fiasco (I'm beginning to think it was personal against SJB now) but this girl might be acceptable...

I just hope they don't put her in the team, but keep her in another unit...

Oh, wait, that was the girl from The Woods, right??? I don't think she's the girl from The Woods... Sonya Leslie is the actress who played Det. Desalle.

Oh... in that case I don't see any point to her. What was that about being a recurrent guest star then?
I don't get these folks. They're really screwing things up. I thought they were smart.

She looks like that one detective from Ravaged, however she hasn't been a recurring guest star. I really hope they're not trying to add her on the Cold Case. Cold Case is not their experimental guinea pig.

WARNING RANT AHEAD!! I've about had it with this back and forth stuff. I have absolutely nothing agaist the actess, but this is ridiculous! The show faltered so much with a sixth cast member, and it has been excelelnt these last couple of weeks without one, and now they want to go and mess with it again!!??!! I just don't understand the thinking behind this move. I was more than patient with the whole the un-utterable one/un-utterable fiasco, but this is inexcusable in my opinion. According to TV Guide, she's joining the cast as a series regualr and her former narcotics cop will join the homicide department. Why are they so hell-bent on ruining an excellent show? Even if I enjoy this character, I will not enjoy the addition because, as we've already discussed at length, six is too many! ETA: I heard this rumor awhile back and decided to dismiss it as such thinking that they wouldn't add another after the whole fiasco. I'm honestly shocked that it turned out to be true.

It does say joining the homicide department though NOT the Cold Case team which is a little reassuring, I mean Gil is in the homicide department and we see him regularly but not in overdose. I'm trying to be positive!!! We'll have to wait and see I guess. Oooo and another point is that we have a lot of the cast listings for future episodes and she doesn't show on all of them does she. Don't get too down about this yet folks!!

I want to be optimisitc about this, I do, but the cast list thing doesn't give me much hope because it usually failed it list the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective as well.

i'm tiffed. We don't need a new cast member. I like the fact that Lilly is the sole girl among the big, tough guys. Apparently the the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective fiasco tought them nothing. I am so disappointed right now.

I'll join the others in expressing my unhappiness with the news. While I mean no offense to the actress, I don't see why the powers that be insist on having another female lead when the last one they had was let go.

Welcome, soccer07!! I know what you're talking about, but sometimes detectives move in between units/squads. I hope this experiment doesn't last.

It is odd to say the least!! And it shed's more light onto the dismissal of the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective. I mean if they want another female in the team and replaced the one who's name we shall not say straight away then maybe it was a problem with the one who's name we shall not say herself and not because they changed their minds about adding another girl which is what some intially thought. The overcrowing of character obviously wasn't the issue.

This is an excellent point sonny. Tracie Thoms' hiring definitely lends more credence to the one who's name we shall not say's claim that Les Moonves doesn't like her. At first, I thought she was just grasping at straws, but it certainly doesn't look that way now. That whole thing was very odd. Of course, this worries me because it leads me to believe that they're going to do the same exact thing to Thoms' character as they did with "Josie chippy". No matter how you slice it, another detective takes away from the wonderful five that we already have on the show.
