Hello everyone,
I received correspondence from Michael Levine, Composer for Cold Case today. Here is a part of his email:
We are finally (!) going to put out a CC score album. It will be on Lakeshore records and will probably be out this fall.
I am writing to you because I'd like to get the fans' input on the content. It can be anything from seasons 1 - 5, but it has to be written by me. That means all pieces of underscore, the end title credit music (but not the main titles, of which only the first five seconds are mine), and the two songs from Beautiful Little Fool, 300 Flowers and One Dress Left Blues.
So now is your chance to have input for the underscore selections for this release.
Please list them here on this thread as many as you like from seasons 1-5 and then we will have a Poll Vote to narrow it down.
NOTE underscore is not the same as the music selections

This is quite cool.
I'd definitely have to vote for including any of the underscore from "Mind Hunters" and "The Woods." I'd also vote for pieces from the two James Hogan episodes - "Sherry Darlin'" and "Kensington."

I love the underscore from Blank Generation, especially the part where Scotty's at West. Music nerd that I am, I'm sure I will come up with more suggestions, now that I know what to listen for!

Hey, it's a good idea. I remember the piece from "Saving Patrick Bubley" when Lilly is on the balcony... just after she had talked with the Bubley's mother. It was a beautiful piece I find .

Great News! Being a fan of score music and Cold Case. And liking a lot what Michael Levine is doing for Cold Case . Thanks to Michael for being interested in our input! Now I have something to do this weekend. Not that there would be nothing else to do, but this is now more important. Can't wait to come back home after work to start looking for my faves.

Stalker: Before the end of music, when lilly says "He got me". Saving Sammy: Before the end of music when the boyfriend of Rubi kills the Sammy's parents. The woods: At the end, after that Lilly shoots Georges and Stillman enters the attic. Fly away: When lilly speaks with Rosie at the end of the episode.

Here are some of my favorites: -"300 Flowers" -The music that played whenever Lilly and Kite were together (Loved that!) -Fly away: When Lilly speaks with Rosie at the end of the episode -Best Friends: The end with Billie's poetry being read -Best Friends: Billie and Rose in the Rain -Family 8108: The ending montage with the letter being read -Sherry Darlin': James' old house in the basement with Lil talking him out of killing himself -Sherry Darlin': Lil and James at the tracks (a.k.a. the "I'm Your Girl Now" scene) I'll post more as I think of them.

Working myself through the seasons ... finished 1 and 2 so bet there are more suggestions to come. But here are my first ones:
+ Pilot: Lilly talking to Evelyn "You can't walk away from here" (don't give up on finding the murderer)
+ Pilot: Lilly talking to Todd in the park, "people shouldn't be forgotten" (or You're a crusader) (yeah, trying to find some titles for the pieces, lol)
+ 1x3 Useless Cats: Karl confesses the rape and murder, the last flashback
+ 1x8 Fly away: what I call Toya's theme, her mother tries to remember, with Lilly and Scotty in the apartement for example
+ 1x11 Hubris: The Kiss scene (short, but nice)
+ 1x11 Hubris: the professor's last flashback, his confession
+ 1x13 The Letter: Sadie's theme - when she decides to answer the letter and later the rape scene
+ 1x14 Boy in the Box: at the beginning, when the box is found (same theme coming later again, when the boy dies)
+ 2x09 Mind Hunters: The hunting, in the prolog, when they first show someone (George) hunting and killing a woman
+ 2x11 Blank Generation: (some great underscore in this episode) "Obey the First Generation" - Lilly finds the writing on the walls in her flat
+ 2x15 Wishing: Final flashback
+ 2x19 Strange Fruit: The kids biking in the street and finding the victim
+ 2x22 Best Friends: The chase and the car goes off the bridge (prolog - comes later again in the final flashback) - call it "The drowning" (and noticed it's first use in 1x19 in a similiar moment and again in 2x16)
+ 2x22 Best Friends: (somehwere in the middle of the ep) The poem - Billie tells Rose how much she loves her, while we see at the end how she's gotten beaten up
+ 2x23 The Woods: (again great score in this episode, hard to make a choice) Searching in the woods (Stillman and the others out in the woods)
+ 2x23 The Woods: The bad man/ The Past never goes away - Lilly and Georg in the Attic
Okay, some list already, well, hope gives an idea, what pieces I'm talking about. There are recurring little themes all over the episodes, marking similiar moments. For example this sort of jingle, when they show the outside of the office, return to office. Would be great to have that on the album too. And often you have a sort of theme for an episode, used in several scenes (something I like, for example Sadie's theme).
And skipping through the episodes to listen to the underscore again is really fun.

This is a great idea. I love the music from the show.
Off the top of my head, I would have to say The Boy in the Box, specifically the climactic scene and there's a 5-second piece of music that's been used several times, but I remember it especially in Factory Girls, when the audience is first introduced to modern-day Dottie.
I'll have to think about this.

Off the top of my head... There was a nice piece in "Churchgoing People" in the final scene that led up to the closing montage. It had a nice segue into Madonna's "Live to Tell". In "Lonely Hearts", there was a flashback where Martha reads the inscription on a watch and comes to grips with the reality of the crimes they're committing. They didn't use period music for that flashback, but instead some of Levine's music that I found very dramatic (especially with the bass and volume cranked up really loud).

I would like any of the underscores from Look Again, Fly Away, Who's your daddy, Mindhunters and The Woods, expecially the part with Lilly and George in the attic. Then there are some small scenes I love:
- Lilly and Kite from Hubris (the kiss scene), Late Returns, Greed ("You wanna see the girls?"), Lover's Lane (when they broke up)
- Lilly and Stillman from Glued (when she says "I get" and he answers "No you don't") and Saving Patrick Bubley (the balcony scene)
- The jail scene from Blank Generation, and the part with Lilly and Allyson at the end
- The "No drugs today" scene from Glued (so funny!)

- Sanctuary: the end when Sissy and her boyfriend kill Ana (as she "sees" herself in that office building). I think this may have been used at the end of "Hitchhiker" and/or "Resolutions" as well (during the murder scenes).

I think I might have already mentioned it, but this more specific. I would really love to hear the score that plays in episode 4x01 Rampage at the end when the guys are shooting up the mall.

-- The piano theme from "Bubley" -- The piano theme from "Love Conquers Al" which goes into a nice little orchestral piece -- Another vote for the end music to "Best Friends"
