The June 4 "Entertainment Weekly" has a chronicle of the 2003-04 TV season. Overall "Cold Case" ranked 17th. A CBS exec says, "That was probably our biggest shot in the arm this year." (Like some colleagues here, I pray they won't do anything stupid trying to broaden its appeal.) There's also a nice shot of an intense Lilly at her desk.

Thanks for posting the info blankregus!
So, CBS is unhappy with CC's overall Nielsen ranking? Honestly, I feel it's the timeslot. Not as many people watch TV on Sunday as they do the middle of the week. Plus, there are so many reality shows during the course of the season that pull in huge numbers. I would think CBS would be happy with the fact that CC always wins it's timeslot, and it's the most watched new drama. Plus, it seems the Bruckheimer shows pick up more steam during their sophomore seasons. Just look at Without a Trace... from barely known last year to barely losing to ER this year (not to mention a Top 10 and a lot of times Top 5 show). Hopefully, the same sophomore success will befall CC without the network "tweaking" it for mass appeal.

I don't know that CBS is unhappy with the "Cold Case" numbers; it's a timeslot that hasn't worked for them since "Murder, She Wrote" went away in 1996. Still, CC did so well out of the gate that I continue to worry about the suits trying to normalize it, in the interest of higher share. Let's pray they don't. Lilly & Co. have many more stories to tell.

Well I can see why the timeslot is a problem with NFL Football and any awards show knocking it off it normal weekly slot. I kinda got peeved last year seeing it knocked off for weeks in a row because of some special or tv run over. I wish they'd change the time for it and make it's season more sequential. I didn't think 14 million was a bad share but then I don't know too much about those things.
If anything, that's what might "ruin" the show the second season. I should put this on your other thread, blankregus of things they could do to screw up the show.
