Review from IMDB: I found the show lengthy but interesting. The story is told in flashback sequence...a style I find particularly annoying. It also does not contain subtitles which add to viewing. Diane Lane is magnificent and Southerland does well also. One foible is that the boy Marsden shown in many of the Civil War battleground sequences has dark brown eyes while the adult Marsden (Southerland) clearly has light blue eyes. Tyson does a great job in her role as the housekeeper/former slave girl. The character of Marsden shows little or no love or care for his wife and children just doing whatever he pleases whenever he wants to...pretty accurate and indicative of a husband from the South at this time in history. Has anyone seen this film?

I think this role more closely mirrors Kathryn's (true) personality than anything other I've seen her in so far. She's happy, she's perky, she's energentic, and silly . . . and all in hyperdrive and over the top. She's got small scenes throughout the entire movie and an array of wacky hairdo's, none of which attract from the fact that she is just adorable. Oh yeah, and there's the nose ring. And the gum chomping and thick southern accent. She Will make you laugh. She does very well as a somewhat dingy nursing home attendent. Most notable (as being unusual for her) is her wardrobe. Frequently seen in short shorts and midriff baring shirts. I'm not a big fan of historical dramas but it is good for the genre. Those who like historical will probably enjoy it very much.

Thanks for the review Michelle. I had always wondered how large her role was in this movie. The way you described her character does sound a lot like the Kathryn we're used to seeing on the talk show circuit.

Good review, Michelle! She's kinda looney and fun in this one.... Her wardrobe though is terrible.... I don't know what look they're going for there... Punk? Goth? A weird mixture of the two?

I didn't mind the clothes too much as she actually showed her legs and (gasp!) belly. Now the hair--that's another issue. Now I've finally gone and jumped on the bandwagon of discussing Kathryn's hair. I'm beginning to think she does it on purpose. :-)

Thanks Michelle! I just turned it on, but it's in commercial at the moment. I'm curious to see Kathryn in this role.

Oh man! Hi Michelle and TVFan! How are you girls tonight? Thank you so much for this notification, Michelle - I had no idea that this movie was even going to be on! Of course, I did not see this notification until there was just over an hour left of this movie. So I have probably missed KM's part in it. Also, the TiVo told me that it will not be on again over the next two weeks either. I was wondering what you girls thought of this movie, and how you liked it as well.

I randomly caught this movie over the weekend - didn't even know it was airing until I was flipping the channels, saw the name of the film in the DVR program guide and thought, "Wait. Isn't KM in this?" LOL! Her role was cute. Too. Darn. Funny to go back and watch her as punk-goth-Southern girl. Reminds me of that photo irishkale posted a while back: "Kathy Morris". For whatever reason, I thought about this photo as I was watching the film ... how young she was ... how she was just starting out as an actress ... how she would take small jobs just so she could learn something from the process. And even in a small role such as this, you see the groundwork for what we all have come to know and appreciate about her talents today. I actually think that can sometimes be the best part of going back to watch early work of actors. I am a huge history buff, so the whole film was of interest to me. Diane Lane was awesome. And I always loved Anne Bancroft. You have to kind of "catch" KM in this film - she's in the beginning, then sprinkled throughout some of the present day scenes at the nursing home, then featured for a couple of minutes at the end when Lucy is being honored at the ceremony. Recommended for a glimpse of young "Kathy" Morris.

I think I missed the bulk of her scenes coming into it late like that. I did catch her at the end. It's funny because she looks the exact same (obviously, the infamous hair is different).

How long is she in the movie for? Do you reckon it is worth buying? Of course it is, it's got Kathryn in it. And did you not look at the screencaps KF linked to? I've not seen this movie but it sounds like KM has got some small but fun appearances peppered throughout. I've gone ahead and ordered a copy, but it is coming from the US of A so it might take a little while. I'll see if I can work some of my "Maximum Morris" magic on it. Watch this space.

How long is she in the movie for? Do you reckon it is worth buying? I think the film is boring, really boring. Kathryn is only 5 minutes in the movie altogether - and the film runs over 2 hours. Of course Kathys scenes are great - Sure! But the rest... I couldnĀ“t bring myself to watch the film twice.

I would definitely take a pass on getting this one on DVD. Kathryn's part is really very small. I'm sure RichE will eventually track it down and be able to make a Maximum Morris version (given he's really quite good at that ), and that version will be all you'll need to see!
