Good evening everyone, Hello, this is the Byrdman coming at you today. I hope that everyone is doing well, and that the week is winding down smoothly for all as well. Yes, Naj actually suggested that I start this thread, and I am obliged to help her. So, let's begin discussion on this! First of all, this discussion will have SPOILERS! So, anyone who has not seen this movie, please stay away. Trust me, you will be better off not having spoiled yourself here! I was so impressed by this movie, it surprised me throughout the length of it. I was always wondering who the real killer was. At first, I had random ideas. But at first I thought it was Harris (Val Kilmer), then LL's character, and then Johnny Lee Miller! Plus, our poor girl KM got put through a lot in this movie. It was awful the way that other girl (I'm sorry, I don't know her name offhand - Maria in the movie), LL and Johnny Lee Miller were smacking her around and all. However, our girl KM came through like the tough girl she is! Rock on, KM (or Sara, for the movie ). So, what was everyone's favorite part of the movie? Favorite star (probably a silly question! )? My favorite part was when the team was in the bar before the whole training exercise, and they were just sitting, laughing and talking about the upcoming mission. They played a Maroon 5 song: "Is There Anyone Out There?" I think it is. Plus, my favorite star is KM, of course! I'm just anxious to hear everyone else's thoughts on this movie. Please bring up any new thought you have for conversation, Naj and everyone else who has seen it. Take care, and have a rocking night, everyone!

Oooo, I have two fave parts. The first is when Johnny Lee Miller pulls Kathryn up from the water after the boat explodes and the second is when Kathryn [Sara] realises that Johnny [Lukas] is the killer and he is holding her right on the edge of the stairs then whispers in her ear before loosing his grip and letting her fall. Ooooo I also love the bit when they are waking up after being drugged by the coffee and Kathryn says "I just had the worst dream ever." Awesome movie, just love it and fave character of course is Sara.

Hi byrdman,
Thanks for beginning this. I was delightfully surprised that Kathryn was in this from the opening scene to the very end. Wow! I like her in this kind of movie. She's feminine but can go with the guys when she has to. I could see a lot of Lilly in her with her observations and profiling of what was happening. I also like the tie in of Detective Gab Jenson (LL Cool J) being from the Philly PD.
It took me a bit to get everyone's names in this movie. What I don't understand is when or if Harris ever killed anyone? Did he kill the very first profiler (JD) played by Christian Slater in the very first crime scene?
And how can one just die from liquid nitrate like that. Is that realistic?
I have much more to ask on this movie....

No it's not realistic. If you look at the movie on IMDB you can read about all the mistakes in the movie and that was one of the big ones. I doesn't bother me though, the movie is great.
BTW Naj- Harris didn't kill JD that was Lukas too.

I liked the original script* better. It had more Sara in it. Regardless though, I still loved the movie and Kathryn's parts.
*BTW: The link to the original script is somewhere in this Board.

That's interesting about KM having even more time than what was in the movie being that it was an ensemble - she had a lot of time I thought.
So Harris was only there watching? He never got to see anything because Lucas killed him first even before the first crime scene find?
I have a question. Whose gun did Vince finally get from the already dead. The gun that backfired and killed him in the elevator?

I think Vince only traded his magazine for the dead persons, cause he said he'd "never go anywhere without my gun"..

My fave part is after they all pass out from the drugged coffee. Someone says "Where's Sara?" Jonny Lee Miller then flips her over and she is staring straight up like she is dead. She snaps out of it and says "I just had the worst dream ever."

She snaps out of it and says "I just had the worst dream ever." That was scary because I thought they were all dead and then what? It wasn't that far into the movie. I also have a question about the blood draining. So it appears they were asleep about, what, eight hours. How can a body harden like Raife's did that his head got knocked off.

I think Raife's head was mostly cut off, so when they pulled him back, it really did come off.

I think Raife's head was mostly cut off, so when they pulled him back, it really did come off. That's what I thought! Even though it's just a movie, I don't see how Lucas could have set all that stuff up without being on the island before everyone else. And the underwater shooting scene...Would a gun even fire underwater? Anyway, I thought it was a great movie!

I remember Lucas talking about how he used technology to set everything up. As far as the gun firing under water...I listened to the audio commentary with Renny Harlin and yes a gun can fire under water but the bullet moves very slowly (not sure how on target the bullet would be though).

Thanks, Naj! I haven't listened to the audio commentary yet. That would have answered my question. :smile66:

My fav scene was when they saw Sara's name on the screen and all... yeah, poor Sara... She was the best I was surprised that Kathryn played a main role, but she did it great! And the movie is one of the best I have ever seen, too. I couldn't focus on anything next couple of days when I saw this, because I was thinking of this all the time, gosh... :>
