Don't know if this has been posted anywhere yet - I don't think it has (and if it has. sorry! ) Alda to Resurrect the Champ Source: Variety April 27, 2006Alan Alda has joined Josh Hartnett, Samuel L. Jackson, Kathryn [/b] Morris and Rachel Nichols in Resurrecting the Champ, the Rod Lurie-directed drama that shoots in Canada in June. Variety says the Yari Film Group arranged financing on the film, produced by Bob Yari; Phoenix's Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer and Brad Fischer; and Marc Frydman. The fact-based story concerns an L.A. Times reporter who wrote about a homeless man who was once a famed fighter, then found the pugilist wasn't who he claimed to be. By then, the journo and his subject had formed a father-son bond.[/i]

Thanks Cutey. How ironic that Josh Hartnett is in it. Kathryn said something in an article once asking Jerry Bruckhiemer about him playing some hot young cop who has a crush on Lilly in CC!! Wonder if she said anything to him?? I agree TVFan Rod must sure love her!!

There's more news to day about Kathryn's role. According to The Calgary Sun, she will play Josh Hartnett's wife. Interestingly enough, she has been attached to this film for two years.

Ha, ha, that makes it even more funny then! What Kathryn said about Josh in that interview a while back He's 10 years younger than her too! Obviously proves she looks good for age if she is playing his husband.

I know! I wish I could remember what interview that was. I'm going on a mission to find it. I'll post it when I do.
EDIT: I found it! It's from the Entertainment Weekly article from back in September. Here's the quote:
All of which has Morris gunning for her all-work-and-no-play Det. Rush to let down her perennially pinned up hair. "I did ask Jerry Bruckheimer, 'Can't you get Josh Hartnett? He did Pearl Harbor for you. He can be, like, a beat cop who's got it for her!'" Bruckheimer hasn't gotten back to her on that one, after all, that's probably one cold case he doesn't want reopened.

Great find TVFan!! That's the exact bit I was talking about. What Jerry couldn't do for her Rod has! Wouldn't suprise me if she's been on board for 2 years that she didn't ask specifically for Josh?

Small amount of info on RTC:
Another well-known filmmaking figure that Hartnett has chosen to work with is Rod Lurie, who will direct him in the upcoming drama, "Resurrecting the Champ." In this adaptation of a series of articles by L.A. Times writer J.R. Moehringer, Hartnett will star as a sportswriter who believes he's re-discovered a forgotten boxing champ, to be played by Samuel L. Jackson.
"["Resurrecting the Champ"] has a mysterious quality to it because it's a true story, but this guy, this boxer, is kind of an unknown; he's living on the streets of L.A. This all happened in 1991, and it's a really interesting story," he promised.
His role in "Champ" is not only a marker of Hartnett's more interesting career choices; it's also another venture for the actor into the world of producing. As with "Lucky Number Slevin," Hartnett will act as executive producer on "Champ," giving him more artistic control over his performance. He also plans to produce an adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's "The Rum Diaries," a project that's been rumored to star Hartnett and fellow Thompson pals Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro, which he said might happen in the next few years.

According to this article, Teri Hatcher is also in the movie. This makes me not happy. Nothing against Teri Hatcher, but I'm just not a fan.
