It's the same issue that posted the awesome Cold Case spoilers with Matt Fox on the cover, page 20.
I'll copy the article....
CBS bulks up on woman power this fall....
Amatuer Detectives, solve this mystery. You're a network exec with multiple crime procedurals and you crave Desperate Housewives' lucrative female demo. What do you do? Get a shot of estrogen. This fall, five CBS crime dramas will introduce female characters played by Rescue Me's Diane Farr (on Numb3rs), Rush Hour 2's Roselyn Sanchez (on Without A Trace), All My Children's Eva LaRue (on CSI: Miami), General Hospital's the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective (on Cold Case), and Picket Fences' Lauren Holly and The $treet Cote de Pablo (on NCIS).
"I left [acting] for a while because of my [three preschool-age sons], and I've had so many opportunities all of a sudden, especially in TV, because my age is perfect," says Holly, who'll play Mark Harmon's ex-flame/new boss. CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler claims the network has always featured strong women. "Female audiences respond to shows that involve case-driven stories. That's been consistent over the years." Fair enough, but we still think the answer to this mystery lies over Wisteria Lane.- Tim Stack
The article has a snapshot of Holly on the set of NCIS with Mark Harmon. and inset a photo of Farr and Larue.
Not bad company for our girl to be mentioned in. Cold Case premiers on the 25th! EEEEE!

Cool! Thanks for typing this up Shawn.
I'm sure DH success definitely sparked an interest in women driven shows and characters! :smile74:

Thanks for finding and posting this luvthe one who's name we shall not saybrown! I haven't had a chance to even read through that entire issue yet. There's so much good info in it! I sure am glad that CC doesn't go up against those Desperate Housewives! Although during football season, it gets delayed a lot and winds up airing against it anyway.

Hmmm...this is an interesting theory. While aggreeably it will bring fans of the new actresses into their viewerbase will it really be enough to compete with DH? And woman driven dramas are not exactly new.Not that I'm knocking seeing the one who's name we shall not say once a week. Especially with KM. I loved her on Xena & I'm sure I'll love her on CC. She is one of those actresses that is just easy to love. She pulls it off & is beautiful to watch.. IMHO. I also find it interesting that WAT hired Sanchez...they were the ones who recommended the one who's name we shall not say to CC peeps.

Well, it's not the one who's name we shall not say's fault the Cold Case writers decided to write in a new female detective. She just got hired for a job, a job I am sure she will do fantastic in. :smile43:

You are right it is not the one who's name we shall not say's fault, she is thinking of her career and who could blame her taking up the opportunity of a lifetime! I'm still not happy about her character addition but I'm ready to eat my words if she turns out to be great. Mind you IMO no-one could ever top Kathryn and I'm sure you guys think the same about the one who's name we shall not say.

Okay...I can't help but ask. And if this is in the wrong forum, please post it into the right one. (This site is so big with so many threads half the time I'm not sure what to post where). If CC has been pushed as the "lone woman detective" why do you think they've added another female? Aside from the hokey reason given above. Which I think is kind of stupid. CC has had steady ratings & obviously earned it's place. Has a dedicated fan base. So why add another female?

Top rated shows make changes all the time. Some pay off, some don't. I have confidence in the one who's name we shall not say's acting ability. So I'm glad she's being given a chance to show off her stuff. She and Kathryn may turn out to be the best two female actresses on primetime. Or not. I choose to look at the positive. Harping on the negative never gets you far in life. I do have a problem with tv not having enough women in prominent roles. To see any female make her mark in this man's world makes me proud to be a woman And how can anyone hate the one who's name we shall not say for getting a job. Jobs are so hard to come by. She has a child and other responsibilites to take care of. Living in a competitive world, you do what you got to do. As a the one who's name we shall not say fan I expect many to be weary, but at least give her a chance before the backlash comes. I so hope I don't have to go through on Cold Case what I did with the ATWT fans. I like this board so far

Okay, I read the article. ;D I am really trying to stay spoiler free this season. rudaxf is going thru what some of us were going thru when we heard the news that Lilly wasn't going to be the single female in an all male department. Allow her to go thru her pain just as many of us did. ruda, you didn't mean you hate the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective, did you? Because that is against the rules of our board. You can display dislike of a character but not the actor. Okay? ~Naj

No luvthe one who's name we shall not saybrown, I don't watch CC. Not because I don't want to but because I simply have not had tv in 2 1/2 years. I caught one episode at my dads last season and really liked it. Right now I'm extremly frustrated, the cable co. has been here twice & both times unable to get to the box to hook me up because my neighbors keep locking their gate & they can't get to the pole!
In any case you've voiced my worst fears. That this will turn into a repeat of ATWT. I really want to be able to enjoy the show & the one who's name we shall not say.

Gotcha. Break the fence down, NDGD! LOL! I'd go crazy without cable. Sad, huh?
I'm sure there'll be dislike for "Josie chippy", as there's some across the net for Lily and her hair! LOL! I know many of us are territorial when it comes to our fav show and actors. I'll try not to get too upset! But ATWT was another subject. I couldn't even enjoy the show toward the end of the one who's name we shall not say's stint! LOL!

Don't get upset, luvthe one who's name we shall not saybrown. Doesn't really matter what others have to say about our faves--as long as WE like 'em. I was very wary of this new character at first but now I really want to see her. She'll probably get trashed at first (poor thing is coming in with such a complicated sidestory--this love affair with her superior rumor) but she'll find her way. I was a bit upset at the "lone woman in homicide" thing being lost, but... oh well. If she's a good addition, who cares, right?

I was worried at first as well, but having all the the one who's name we shall not say fans here has eliminated my worries. I wanted the show to remain the "lone female detective," but I trust Meredith Stiehm and Co. to do right by the show. I'm excited to see the one who's name we shall not say in action (I do watch WaT, but don't remember her on there). The show has been moving more toward an ensemble set-up anyway, so adding "Josie chippy" is not going to change anything IMO. I'm much more worried about the prospect of Scotty getting a more prominent role because I want the show to stay focused on the women ("Josie chippy" included) who solve the crimes. Like luvthe one who's name we shall not saybrown said, there just aren't enough great roles for women out there, and it will be wonderful if CC turns "Josie chippy"'s into another one! And don't worry the one who's name we shall not say fans, I promise that I will never bash the one who's name we shall not say or her character. CC is good at giving even seemingly bad characters (murderers) redeeming qualities because they write them with such complexity. I don't think "Josie chippy" will be a "bad" character, but even if she is, she'll still have redeeming qualities.

Thanks, TvFan! Your post just gave me this ray of hope for the show and the one who's name we shall not say's role on it! You're great with words! And females, we need more roles that show that we're just as smart and strong as males
