'Young and the Restless' Actor To Guest Star on 'Cold Case'

For nearly two decades, Jerry Douglas has established himself a niche in the fictional city of Genoa as patriarch John Abbott on the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless. On Sunday, December 9, however, the 75-year-old actor will be shifting his gears to primetime as he makes a guest appearance in an episode of Cold Case.
Marking the soap actor's primetime comeback is the episode "Family 8108" where he plays Eugene "Skip" Robertson on the police procedural drama starring Kathryn Morris (Lilly Rush), Danny Pino (Scotty Valens), John Finn (Lt. John Stillman), and Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera), Thom Barry (Will Jeffries), and Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller). Douglas will be part of a storyline in which the cold case detectives attempt to solve the 1945 murder of a man who moved his family to Philadelphia following their release from a Japanese-American internment camp in California during World War II.
Douglas' Cold Case episode will also feature other guest stars like Sean Davis, Ian Anthony Dale, Mary-Margaret Lewis, and Jonathan Terry, just to name a few.
On The Young and the Restless, Douglas was introduced as the founder of Genoa City conglomerate Jabot Cosmetics and an affluent pillar of the community. After 25 years on the long-running soap, he decided to exit The Young and the Restless in a storyline revolving around his character's involvement in the Tom Fisher (Roscoe Born) murder case, which eventually led to his death on the show. Though Douglas has officially left the show, he continues to make appearances once in a while in the form of a spirit.
Prior to landing a part on Cold Case, Douglas shifted his focus on the music industry with the release of his jazz collection album entitled “The Best Is Yet to Come.” At present, he continues to perform around the United States and Canada.
