I'm no expert on writing fan mail, I'm still trying to figure out what to write to Kathryn myself. But the advice I can give is: Don't over-gush on how much you like her. That would seem creepy and stalker-ish. ex) Don't do this: "Oh my gosh,oh my gosh, I looooove your work on Cold Case and I really watch the show all the time and I love all of your other stuff" See what I mean? The approach I'm taking is to let it be known that I am a big fan, but without sounding........I can't think of a word. And, don't write an epic. Keep it short and sweet, but not too short, or it might seem like you don't care. But it would be a little of an inconvenience if Kathryn had to sit down and read a letter that was three pages long, front and back. As for the typing/handwritten thing, I'm not sure which is best, but you might want to go for typed. It looks nicer, and is easier to read. I hope this helps.

Should i handwrite or type it? I'm no expert when it comes to fanmail, not by a long shot... but the general rule that I've heard is - if your handwriting is good, hand-written can add a nice personal touch; if your handwriting isn't great, it's best to stick with typeface.

I've been wrestling with that quandary myself. Handwritten would be better, making it more personal, but typed would make sure it was readable.

Thanks for all the advice. I think i am going to handwrite it-because handwriting is more personal. I don't want my letter to look ike a formal legal document, I am going to try to write very neat though. Also, i'm debating whether or not to include and envelope etc for the autographed picture for if i get a response. Do you think it would be rude to ask for an autograph in the letter? i don't think i would need to provide postage an envelope, as im sure they can afford a few cents, but maybe that's a requirement. what results did you guys have when you sent your letter? Thanks Sam

I sent a letter to Kathryn a few months ago and I received a photo of Kathryn (Lilly) with her autograph. I cannot scanner the photograph but I can reproduce for you the few words written. To Cecile Thank you for your sweet note and for the sincere support of my work. I love France and hope to enjoy it again soon ! Warmest wishes. How long you waited for letter? edit: Today I send my letter to Kathryn I hope she send me her autographs.

Awesome im writing mine tommorow maybe. I haven't had any time and plus i still dont know what to write. I struggled to know what to write. I tried to keep it simple and just congratulate her on her work so far, wish her the best for her future work, and, of course, say how much I liked to see the happier Lilly because it meant more smiles ;D It came across a bit dry so I embellished it a bit. I probably got a little gushy How could I not, I think she's amazing I followed irishkale's instructions HERE. Being in America probably means you need to that even less than I do. I didn't ask. If she/they chooses to respond then that will be great but I have not send the letter expecting anything, apart from a restraining order Of course I'm hoping for something

Kathryn's gonna get a sudden influx of fanmail from people on here. I already have a few other actors and actresses I'm sending mail to, I can now add her to the list.
