I don't really know if this will be the season 5 premiere seeing as how the episodes sometimes get rearranged, but this is the first episode in shooting order.

It's about the 1994 murder of three ten year old boys, found beaten to death with their eyes taped shut. Yikes! Two Fishtown teenage boys were initially convicted for the crime but the case is reopened when new evidence resurfaces indicating the wrong people might have been convicted. I don't want to get people's hopes up, but it also looks like they might have worked out the rights issue with Nirvana-all the music I've seen listed for the episode is Nirvana. Oh, and for people who are concerned, Lilly is back on the job and she is definitely not over her shooting, though of course, being Lil she is trying to pretend that she is.

Well, I was about to post about this but it looks like you guys beat me to it! Very interesting references to this year's finale, both from Lilly's POV and some of her co-workers. Definitely looking forward to seeing how they deal with it. It also looks like not much time has passed since the shooting, the window at the office is still taped with cardboard.

Wow! Thanks morwenna16 and orison! I'm glad that the premiere is going to deal with last season's finale. It'll definitely be interesting to watch. ;D

Are they going to show Ellen Funeral or not; just wondering.
Thanks Morwenna and Orison

That puts my mind at ease that they aren't just going to gloss over the finale's events, awesome!

Woah! I am already very very very excited for this season, that I'm about to burst with glee. Reading this synopsis this almost sounds like it's based off of the real life case referred to as the West Memphis Three. www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/famous/memphis/index_1.htmlAnyways I hope this isn't a Nirvana centric episode. If any episode was suited for heavy metal, this would be the episode. Oh here's to hoping, and here's to me counting down the days. *le sigh*

The Reverend Bizarre- thanks for that summary. This episode looks definitely like it's inspired by the West Memphis 3. There are only two accused killers in this case, but one of them looks to be similar to Damien Echols and the other to Jessie Misskelley.
I can't imagine that they'll change the music if they can get the rights to Nirvana. That would be a major feat for the show. But it is always possible that the music will change-8:04 AM wasn't originally an all U2 episode.

Is there any reference to Lilly being in the hospital after the shooting?

Yes there is, we see Lilly's first day back on the job after getting out of the hospital. Scotty is also being investigated for killing Romeo, but that looks to be merely a formality.
I never look at more than the first few pages, I don't want more than a teaser for each episode. So there's a lot about the episode I don't know.

I'm stoked; I love Nirvana!
Ep sounds fantastic as well; at least they haven't done what they did last season and do away with all the in-between stuff. So angst! Although I'm wondering how they'll deal with Ellen's death; it'll probably be mentioned once and that's it.
Thanks for the info.

Sounds great! I didn't wanna spoil myself, but this is all fairly harmless. Only problem is, we have long to wait. But it'll be worth it in the end.

Hehe, I love grunge. I was Thrash back then--or at least I thought I was. My heart soared with Nirvana and Guns'n Roses and Metallica. Now I like Power Metal better (clean vocals rock). Still looking forward to this episode though. Brings back good days.
