I was looking at the character listing on Showfax and among the list of sides/characters they have roles for "young Lillian" and "old Lillian". I would imagine that it's a guest character and not "our Lilly."

"Debut" -- When a frazzled mother bursts into the Philadelphia Police Department claiming to know who might have killed her daughter at the 1968 debutante ball, Lilly re-opens the case on COLD CASE, Sunday, Jan. 29 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Tim Hunter directed the episode that was written by Karin Lewicki and Kate Purdy.
Lillian begs Lilly and the team to search for her daughter's killer when a newspaper story reports on a man pushing his wife down the stairs. The circumstances of that death seem eerily similar to her daughter's, and the same man was her escort to the 1968 debutante ball. Remorsefully, Lillian explains that back in 1968, her desire for social status led her to make her daughter a debutante and now she fears she may have started a chain of events that led to her daughter's murder.

It does sound interesting and maybe we will get some more personal info on Lilly after all in 'Look Again' Lilly told Evelyn she knows the difference between a soccer injury and a trip down the stairs. Will we find out if this actually happened to Lilly?  ? |

Maybe... after all, we just assumed this trip was provoked by an abusive someone else... but it could be just an accident. Maybe she just fell? Though to be truthful I always thought she was just BSing.

I think you're right I find it hard to believe that she would think someone abusive was her number one smile. She's a sensible girl and had put up with some guy beating on her when she was 10. She fought then and she would give as good as she got it any other guy tried something.
