I know CC hasn't been around much and I see there was a request for a November Poll. So I know it's late, but I'll try to do my best. So here it goes ;D It seems alot of programs are adding hosts/guests on their show, so that's what this question will be on.

I feel since this show started and like other shows, the tptb try to do something to liven up the shows? I think they should mostly divert their energy in finding more good storylines. Having known popular stars would be good to have once in awhile for an episode, but that's it. why change something that has been working with the characters we have already?

Good morning everyone, Hello, it's the Byrdman coming at you today. I hop that everyone is doing well, and that you are all still rocking and rolling through your Thanksiving Breaks, just like me. Well, I answered that it is a great idea. If I understand the question correctly, it is just asking whether guset stars are good on television series or not. Cold Case has to have guest stars, I think, with every case that they go into. Plus, a few familiar faces from the past aren't bad, either. Well, we've already seen Anna Mayes this season, Lilly's buddy from high school (that girl from "Maternal Instincts"). I am anxiously awaiting to see what became of Christina too. I know that certain guest stars have flopped (Justin Chambers and SJB), but I think that they are great for the storylines, and they are an added way to delve deeper into our favorite characters too. Plus, thanks to Eurache for coming up with this poll as well. Better late than never, right?

I think it's a great idea as long as the person fits into the case they are studying. They have had guests in the past on the show and that's how they do it. Now if they begin to have stories that give the guest lots of screen time - well then they need to have a great case.
For the most part I think they need to work on making really interesting cases first and foremost. If they do that then they don't need all this extra stuff they do and it can be a small group of detectives. That's just my two cents.

Not sure I understood the question correctly when I voted. Anyway... I think guest stars are good. Adding a new main character is not so good, but wth, I'm resigned by now. Now, I don't want it to be ALL ABOUT bringing a famous guest star in, just for the sake of it. If it adds to the story, great. Otherwise it's just a way of manipulating viewers and not really that good.
EDITED TO ADD: Yeah, what Naj said :smile81:

I was sooooo close going with the turkey, but I went for "good idea". After all, what had Cold Case been without.. saay.. a victim?! Or a doer?!.. lol, you get my point..

I voted that I think it's a great idea because the guest stars are the core to shows like Cold Case because the stories rely so heavily on them. I've never been a fan of "stunt casting," so I wouldn't want to see that trend begin (although I'm not worried because it doesn't seem to be a JB trend). I'm also not a huge fan of adding characters, but I do like seeing the recurring guest characters like Lindsay, Anna Mayes, etc because it lends some continuity to a show that is all about "stand alone" episodes. I also completely agree with Naj in that the guest stars can take away from the leads, but it works as long as the case is good (like last night's "A Perfect Day").

TVFan, what exactly is "stunt casting"?

disasterfreak - it's when shows cast some big name star to guest star in an episode. A classic example is Will & Grace, which has had everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Patti Lapone guest star. I'm not a fan of it because it's done just to get ratings and I feel like it affects the integrity of a show. Now, casting a big name in an episode when it makes sense is fine (e.g. Barry Boswick in Creatures of the Night).

Ahhh, thanks. I kinda thought it might be that, but I wasn't sure. Appropriate name. Yeah, I'm not fond of stunt casting either, unless the character fits. But not just for the sake of it. What's fun on The Nanny or Will & Grace isn't suitable for procedurals.
