CBS just released its fall schedule, and it seems that Sunday nights are achangin'! Here's the new Sunday night schedule (NT= new time): SUNDAY 7:00-8:00 PM 60 MINUTES 8:00-9:00 PM THE AMAZING RACE (NT) 9:00-10:00 PM COLD CASE (NT) 10:00-11:00 PM WITHOUT A TRACE (NT) Can you believe they put CC against Desperate Housewives??!! At least have WaT lead into CC or something! This is crazy. I can't believe they moved WaT too. Looks like Sunday nights are going to be spent on CBS for me because I watch all three of these shows.

That absolutely sucks because of sports. Also I read there is going to be Sunday Night Football on one of the other networks. Competition will be more difficult next season as well. Isn't there a Simon Cowell show too?
One thing the time change will allow is for them to go back to some of the dialog they used in season one which made the show more REAL.

I agree about the sports thing, Naj. This means we won't get CC until about 9:45 p.m. most Sundays. NBC will have Sunday Night Football and then the Simon Cowell show at the midseason. His American Inventor show didn't do much against CBS' Thursday night procedural, though, so who knows. I guess CBS really believes in CC if they're willing to put it up against DH.

This is good for me! Now I can stay out and be socialable on Sunday evenings without worrying about missing it!! As for sports, I'll live with the delay as long as they don't try to do any of that "already in progress" crap!

CC can beat out DH any time!! I've heard DH is winding down. How many combinations of infidelity can you have in one neighborhood?

CC can beat out DH any time!! I've heard DH is winding down. How many combinations of infidelity can you have in one neighborhood? I totally agree michelle. The first season of DH did well here in the UK. However the second season viewing figures had decreased by the week. I don't know anyone who watches it anymore. Like you said it's the same tired old story lines.

One thing's for sure. With WaT in after and the possible delays, a chat may not be possible on Sunday nights. At least not for me anyway.

I was thinking about that too, R2K. Especially when daylight saving time comes on (for me at least) I'll be 2 hours ahead of Eastern time. Maybe we should relay it to Monday evenings?? Weekdays are always complicated though.
I think it was a smart move on CBS's part. They MUST believe in the show if they're putting it against DH (gosh, sorry, I must be like the 10th person who's said that--but it's true!), and having WaT after it is a "plus"... lotsa people will tune in in preparation for WaT, end up watching the end of CC and get hooked... though it would have been better if WaT had come before. Anyway... 'cept for the chat, I think the move's ok.

Wow! I never expected that. I just hope that this change is for the better and not for worse.

Knowing CBS, the change may not be permanent. But I think 9pm is a better time slot for CC than 8pm although we won't know until football season starts how the over-runs will affect programming. I wonder if the 9pm slot also means CBS may do something radical, like actually hype the show?!

Wouldn't that be something though? CC getting some publicity for once. Though I honestly don't feel it needs it. CC is like those honest, hard-working people who are hired because they're well-qualified--not because of who their relatives are or how much money they have or who they're sleeping with. In a strange kinda way, I'm proud it's been able to make it this far in spite of being ignored.

I'm glad they're still keeping it on Sunday nights... but what happens when CBS is doing the Sunday Night movie thang? Or is that gone altogether? I can't see them pre-empting CC and WaT just so they could show one of those TV movies. Or what if instead of showing a rerun, they just decide to plug a movie in there. Then we'll never get to see reruns...

Perhaps CBS feels they can do such a powerful line-up on Sunday nights not only because interest in "Desperate Housewives" seems to be weakening, but also because this is very much certainly "The Sopranos" last season too?? It seems like a good bet to me for CBS to put these four shows on Sunday nights to grab audience shares from ABC and HBO.

CBS has eliminated the Sunday movie. In their press release, they stated that Sunday nights have changed over the years, and there is no longer a place for the movie. They also stated that DH is not the powerhouse it used to be, so they wanted to program an aggressive schedule against it. Even though it's not as strong, DH still averages around 20 million viewers an episode to CC's 14 million. But, the later time could draw more people in, and as someone else here stated (DF?), having WaT as a lead-out makes for a strong possibility that a lot of WaT's 20+ million viewers an episode will now find CC. It could end up being very positive. I'll say one thing, having three CBS shows on one night (when I only watch 4 total) makes things easier when fotball runs over. I'll just watch the entire night and not have to worry about catching other shows on other channels.

CBS did this by moving Close to Home to Fridays. Ghost Whisperer, Close to Home, and Numbers is quite a lineup. Maybe they're hoping the same for Sunday. Of course we have too many shows on our hands now.
