I glanced through all 8 pages and couldn't find any poll like this one. If there was one already, please excuse and whoever finds it bump it up ;D. I really wanna know what you think... maybe we can influence the producers/writers in some way.
Thanks for your cooperation, everyone.

For me, it's the characters. If the episode is populated with characters that appeal to me, It has a greater resonance. Examples of my favorite characters and eps: Booker and Channery from "Who's Your Daddy" -- Rose and Billie from "Best Friends", "Daniela" from Daniela, The Girls from "Committed." I guess I could have voted for "A romantic scene", too -- since all of the episodes I mentioned have great romantic scenes -- Booker and Channery talking on the park bench -- Rose and Billie , well basically the whole ep -- Daniela and Chris dancing on the rooftop....

A really good episode would be for me a good mix of several elements. A strong case, fiitng music, interesting flashbacks, good guest stars and good main character development.
But considering what got me hooked to the show in the first place, that is the main character Lilly Rush, I voted for good main character development. Even though it's something more for the hole show than just one episode. But it is something that I miss dearly lately. It's not only about throwing bits and pieces of information about the main characters, it's about where they take the character at all.

There's a combination of things that have to happen for me. It's got to be an interesting well written case, engaging characters with good acting and then I expect to see Lilly involved heavily because this a show about Lilly. Those are the things I care about and what brought me to the show and that hasn't changed.
Good examples of eps (to me) are: The Sleepover, Daniela, Mindhunter, Best Friends, Sherry Darlin', Time To Hate, A Perfect Day, Strange Fruit, The Letter, Boy in the Box, The Woods.
I've never been big on the music. I'd be happy with an underscore because I feel it's very distracting at times. So overpowering at times that I can't hear the dialog. I've got a small tv. No surround sound. So maybe that's a big reason. The ending montage used to be about how things affected Lilly and now it's drifting even more from that this season. I want a show that fits like a glove. Something that I know I'm going to get each week. But that has become elusive in the last two seasons....
I couldn't make a choice from the selections because it's a coming together of the original concept of the series that I look for each week.

A good episode for me includes some character development, especially when it comes to Lilly (the main reason I watch the show). The best episodes combine that development with an awesome case, great guest stars, and fitting music. Some of my favs that combine all of this flawlessly are "Fly Away," "Sherry Darlin'," "Glued," "Mind Hunter," "The Woods," "Best Friends," "Saving Patrick Bubley," "Frank's Best" to name a few. I still maintain that most episodes of this show are leaps and bounds above a lot of the current crop of television shows. In fact, on my list of the best shows on television, I include CC along with Veronica Mars and Everwood, and all three are a virtual tie. Quality wise, you can't beat them IMO.

Ditto that TVFan!! I'll add to that "Maternal Instincts," " Lovers Lane," and "Wishing." For me the show is all about Lilly really. Not just personal stuff though [although I do crave that!] but also how she is involved with the case. There is nothing better than watching Lilly interogate some sexist guy who only sees her pretty face, then for Lilly to show them shes tough and won't be messed with; just like the the interogations of Booker, Henry and George.

I voted for "a really strong case", because I think that it's through the strong cases that we get to know the main characters better (does that make sense?). I mean, all the cases with good character development had strong cases as well. And the very few episodes with good character / personal storylines development but not such a strong case ("Yo, Adrian" and "A Time to Crime" are examples of that for me) seemed just like soap-opera episodes.

Good main character development - I like everything if I like the main characters...

Yup Tati, it makes sense. And I think we're quite close in our thinking. A good character development doesn't mean for me just getting personal information about the characters, even if that might make the characters stronger. I want the development in the context of the show. Simply think strong cases, good written, give the character so much more to act out than just some personal drama.
