Well, it was a good episode and a good interesting chat. It was in 1965, mother with two children living with an abusive husband. A cop that was abusive to her and her kids. Back in those days, they had no agencies to protect abusive mothers and kids. There were good hearted ppl who opened their house to them. This abusive father was a cop and his fellow officers turned the other cheek b/c he was a hero to them. Some hero, I was glad when all was solved, Stillman had this "hero" picture taken down in the station.
What we discussed that night!

What we discussed that night!
- We discussed the songs - "I got Sunshine" "Will You still love me tomorrow" - "My Girl" - " Mr Tamberine Man" and the ending "Trying to Catch the Wind." All songs fit the scenes in the show. No Beatles tho
- we discussed about a new character. Stillman approached Ms Miller outside the station and asked her to come on his homicide team. Hubby just read that Ms Miller will be a regular character on the show.
- we discussed the discovery of a 4 year old child at the river - what happened to that girl, happened decades ago.
- scenes of a mother and child enjoying the ocean - it was determined that this was not the Jersey shore, but filmed at a beach in California..
- The dead child was found with multiple fractures, spinal fractures etc.
- Scenes of a child left at a church and the mother leaves her there...
- Find out the mother was a waitress and the now owner who was a waitress, is able to remember something about this woman 40 yrs ago
- we discuss Art, who was a rookie cop went to the house to investigate a disturbance at this family's house. He sees that the Mom was hit and we see twins. He gives the mom a phone # to call for help and his medallion which has his badge number on it. It's a St. Michael's medallion for protection
- They find the other twin, Laura, who had no memory of her bad past and thought she had an invisible friend which was really her sister "Vivian".
- It was discussed by Mrs. B, Naj and others of many gaps in the show. How did the mother get away from the husband? what happened in between? How did she get where she was now? Why didn't she call the cops when her other daughter was dropped off the bridge? Why didn't the other cops question where his family was?
- Thanks for Byrdman and others for mentioning the songs played into the episode.
- this abusive husband put so much fear in his wife that she did what she could. she saved her one child and brought her to the church,so the church can find a home for her daughter and keep her safe. The mother changed her name and lived in hiding somewhere near a beach and taught piano lessons. She never tried or attempted to find out if her husband was still alive.
- Her husband died in the line of duty...but we find out from the rookie cop, Art, who wanted take the mother and kids away from there home .. he wanted to marry her.... Art and some buddies went to teach this abusive cop a lesson, but it didn't work, Roger was waiting and took the kids and the mother...and did the unthinkable..
- We find out that Art had possibly caused the death of Roger, the abusive cop and Stillman do not question him further...they let it drop
- I believe R2k and others pointed out it was like another episode "Boy in the box" ?
